    Chili Dogs

I usually eat my chili dogs with sour cream, cheddar cheese, and diced onions. And, naturally, mustard. But, the mustard should go on between the dog and the chilil, elsewise the vinegar acidity in the mustard overpowers other flavors. You really ought to branch out in your eating, Jinmyo. When GWB takes over the world, there won't be cuisine... but Heinz Ketchup won't be available, either. So, it won't be all bad.

    Cooking w/white wine

Silly question. But, uhh, why aren't you running with that, then? If you like red and understand red, sally forth!
  4. Craig Camp of eGullet wrote a spectacular piece on this. Intemperate Consumption Peruse, please.

    Hot chocolate

Wow, I'd love to make a general remark about that. But, I really have a nagging suspicion that even those laws change from state to state. It OUGHT not cause heartburn with the local constabulary if it is cooked off, but you really ought to check (gently) with your local city council if you're going to advertise as such.
  6. Wow, that is so wrong to think about the amount of Fisher esterifications that'll be going on in your gut...
  7. The bubbles were great, but completely trumped by your normal meals. But, I can totally see Pringles with champagne. Especially a big yeasty beasty... the salt and slight heartiness of them is kind of like (yeah, someone will flame me for this) caviar, only less over the top with either. The next time I'm in Paris, I'll have to try the Pringles thing... or maybe when I'm reading eG in front my my PC.
  8. For some comments, it's important to remind people that roughly 1/3 of physiologically active drugs, prescription or not, tend to dry mucous secretions (think of benadryl). Another third tend to increase them (like milk). The final third doesn't really do a lot with them. Also, following along with docsconz's advice, if you're on narcotics, or having digestive upsets due to acute illnesses, light foods such as clear broths and crackers are really going to be your friends. Once your gut flora get upset, you need to treat them gently until they get unriled. As well as the BRAT diet, there are several liquid to light diets that one might familiarize oneself with. One should always keep in mind whilst ill that calories are our friends, and if you cannot take them in, you can get into dire straits. More than triply so for fluids.
  9. If you ever need an escort, my escort service is free to eGers! You have such lovely meals every day. I don't know how you do it, but each one is at least as exciting as the last. Beyond that, they're beautiful, too. Your blog continually reminds me why I love food. Keep it up!
  10. I LOVE this place! Now if only I could find people like you in Lincoln....

    Cooking w/white wine

I've had great luck cooking with low-cost German white wines. They have a wonderful crisp character and pair well with many things, especially when cooking. For an example, a Riesling Qualitatswein I can usually pick up for $4-$5/bottle. Take 1/2 of it, 1/2 medium onion sliced, salt, and pepper, and you have a really good liquid to poach some fish in. Best of luck!
  13. Starbucks does brew its coffee stronger than most people here on eG would recommend for reasons I do not understand. IMO, they still over-roast their coffees.
  14. Jason, as always, your sensibilities take my breath away with their directness. I must try that. Soon.

    Sparkling Wine

So, I got up at 5 a.m. today. Went to work. I got off work. I ran 6 miles with a friend. I loaded 1500 pounds of rocks into my pickup. I built a pantry into a friend's wall (all after work, mind you). Now, I'm home. The wine said "forget her; she just used you for your body." Who am I to argue with wine? Piper Sonoma is officially declared, "yummy." Edit to add: Mabelline, you're being toasted by me. To surprises and surprising acquaintances! Thanks for the good words!
  16. Just letting you know that I've decided it's time. I'm toasting your anniversary and your blog tonight. The bottle shall be drained Your blog is lovely stuff! Keep it coming!
  17. The Starbucks I worked in was actually IN a student Union at a major University (20,000+ students). I worked the night shift, alone. Those fucking ditzy-assed "I read Cosmo 'cos it's TRUE!" sorority girls fresh from getting their manicures would come in and order that shit IN WINTER! I couldn't stand that machine, and cleaned it an hour before close every night. That ice crusher can burn in hell. And so can the sumbitch who came up with those drinks. Nothing with crushed ice should come VIRGIN. It's a SIN, I tell you. SINNERS!
  18. Is there an eGullet discount? My mother would love a saucier for X-mas
  19. Starbucks, the Samuel Adams of coffee?
  20. I suppose I do have to add one thing that puts me in the ashamed list for continued support of starbucks. Every morning, I drink my morning cuppa from a Starbucks mug because I like drinking out of glass coffee mugs, and they used to sell one that was perfect. So I bought it. Overnight companions know she's special when I make her coffee in my starbucks mug and give it to her.
  21. Starbucks gets a modest amount of support from me because they did hire me when I was pretty dern close to destitute my second-to-last year of college and paid me enough that I didn't have to eat the grounds to get by. Beyond that, they're pretty industro-edible like McDonald's salads. I'm firmly ambivalent at worst because I can't hold a grudge for people who've helped me out.

    Sparkling Wine

Actually, I'll probably end up staying in Nebraska for medical school. A number of reasons why, but mainly I don't feel like moving out of my home state yet. But, I'm also looking into taking the military route for paying for medical school. That being said, I'll be living in plenty of places after medical school with lots of entertainment. Once I either end up out of medical school, or in the military going, I'll have much better resources to have bubbly more often
