  2. Stay away Marshall, we're keeping him 'ere down Sarf! I won't go into any details but nobody should ever complain about food prices in London until they know how much rent some of these premises are paying. The figures are quite staggering.
  3. I think that is pretty much guranteed - a shame as it is one of the best locations in London. I think it is safe to say that Anthony's new venture will be a smaller more less formal affair but still with the emphasis on good cooking. I know that he was particularly impressed with the set up at WD50 restaurant in New York.
  4. It is with great sadness that I have to announce the forthcoming closure of Putney Bridge restaurant. It is estimated that the restaurant will be closing in early April so I can only encourage people to go before then to experience great food in a great location. Anthony Demetre has plans for the future in London which he will announce at a later date. He is currently offering a shortened menu with a choice of 4 dishes at each stage of the menu. I for one will be very sad to see it go.
  5. Has anybody done a search on Le Gavroche in Google? It appears,impossible as it might seem, to have delusions of grandeur Le Gavroche with mystery 3rd Michelin star!

  7. I need to have a dig around but I'm pretty sure you can find some Gastro-Indian pubs in Southall. There was also an article on this in Restaurant magazine (I think) a few weeks ago.

  11. Has anybody seen Perigord Truffles for sale in London. Booths only had Italian truffles last week and I'm guessing the Caviar places that are selling them are probably charging over the odds. Anybody any idea what market value is at the moment?
  12. There are so called tapas restaurants everywhere now - even in Croydon! I may be mistaken but I think you might be surprised at how many Spanish restaurants there are, it seems to me that it simply isn't as popular as other cuisines and subsequently we don't pay much attention to the Spanish restaurants.

    I've not made it myself but I don know that you have to be very quick making it and need very fresh pigs blood as it congeals very quickly. This is possibly the reason for a lack of recipes.

  15. I was just going to make a similar post, I would also be interested in the average age of the inspectors.

Derek, I'm not some kookie individual that wants to pick Michelin apart, I place a fair bit of trust in your decisions but I am increasingly baffled at what a restaurant is required to do to earn a star. I can think of numerous examples of restaurants with stars that are not in the same league as restaurants without or that have the same rating but are leagues ahead. How do these discrepancies occur? Do you think that a different rating system, maybe a 5 tier system, needs to be adopted to address these discrepancies? Would it be possible to accompany an inspector on an anonymous visit to see the processes they adopt? My discretion/professionalism fully assured.
  17. There's too much discrepancy at the lower end. Maybe they need to introduce a 5 star rating system. Incidentally, I only ate at Morgan M's once shortly after it opened, service was poor but the food was good and was definitely heading towards Michelin stars. More recent reports have been more positive so I wonder what is holding it back. I'm finding the guide more and more baffling. I would love to go on an inspection to see what they require.

  20. THe results are available on the website. Notable at first glance is Rhodes@24, Yauatcha and Sketch all with one star. Midsummer House with 2. No new 3 stars.
