Black Sheep Bistro is very good and they have excellent fries (or so my wife tells me - I don't like fries at all). Also in Vergennes is Christophe's which is excellent but a little pricey (for Vermont, cheap for NYC). But correctly Vergennes is 45 minutes from Brandon and north about 10 minutes more is Rolands. Middlebury had a good restaurant, Swift House but it has degraded alot over the last decade. Over the Brandon Gap and up Rt 100 would be Warren (probably a good 45 minutes) and I would recommend the Pitcher Inn. But the thread was for restaurants in Brandon.

Ther's a new restaurant in Brandon called Cafe Provence. Owned by Chef Barral, one of the founders of the New England Culinary Institute. I haven't been there yet but I trust Barral.

    Gorgonzola ice cream

I made this recipe with goat cheese ice cream http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/re...6_15374,00.html It was delicious, I guess you could substitute gorgonzola for the goat cheese
  4. On your way from Glasgow to Oban stop at Loch Fyne oysters for the freshest and tastiest seafodd. http://www.lochfyne.com/. A worthwhile lunch stop plus the drive throught he Argyll Forest is more than worth it.
  5. Cycled through Puglia this past October. Started in Trani and ended in Lecce. Without a doubt a restaurant not to be missed is U.P.E.P.I.D.E. in Ruvo. There is another outside of Alberobello that has an excellent reputation, we didn't stop but friends did and were impressed.
  6. I concur on the Maytag. We now have a holiday tradition where we send my sister in law Vermont maple syrup and she send the Maytag
  7. Pine Ridge gave a nice tour and tasting. Their caves are worth the stop. One of the nicer tasting rooms was Duckhorn. More relaxed than others in Napa. Our favorite for Sparkiling wine tasting was Iron Horse but they are in Sonoma
  8. Ditto on 'Gusto we went there for lunch in October. We also went to one called Clemente near the Plazza Colonna. Cheap is going to be hard since we loose with the euro conversion, but everything is relative.
  9. For east european food my favorites are Three Brothers (2414 South St. 414-481-7530 - checks no plastic) and Old Town (522 West Lincoln 414-672-0206). I concur with Sanfords as a destination restaurant (same owners for Coquettes Cafe). Beans & Barley for lunch and a great selection of other ethnicities Don Quixote for Spanish and now a variety of japanese restaurants.
