  1. I will add two dishes that have been missed. Curry Beef Brisket at Malaysia in the Bowery arcade. This dish used to be even better, with more rempeh and fattier beef, but it is still one of the best things in the City. I also think that their Ayam Goreng and Hainanese Chicken Rice are best of class. The Satay used to be brilliant, but they changed the recipe for some reason, and is now average. Fish Head Curry at Malaysia/Indonesia Restaurant on Doyers and Pell. Better here than in most places in Singapore. Roti Canai/Paratha, Satay (w/ketupat), and Malay sweets are also excellent.
  2. Thanks for the advice on the Isomac. I will check it out. My one misgiving about the La Spaziale is that the group is not E61, and seems a bit smaller than standard. Is it?
  3. Moving to a place with a larger kitchen, with room for a proper espresso machine. I have had an ECM Giotto for several years, that I am getting tired of constantly servicing, and figure that this is a good opportunity to step up to something better and more robust. I am currently considering three machines, and would like to know if anybody has any thoughts on the comparative merits of any of them, or other machines in the same class that I should be considering. These are the single group versions of: ECM Veneziano Nuovo Simonelli Mac 2000 La Spaziale Vivaldi S1. Thanks in advance.
  4. You can find all of these things (though all are not necessarily available year round) at G&M Foods on Essex Street, just south of Grand St. It is take-out only.
  5. Roast Goose is available in New York at Bo Ky on Bayard Street.
