  1. I'm trying to help my boss find dining options in Hot Springs, VA.  He'll be staying at The Homestead and obviously there are several on-property options, but are there other places worth checking out?

Come on.  Help me maintain my status in his eyes (he calls me his Concierge, little does he know...).

My impressions of my last (and only) visit to the Homestead was like being either on the Titantic or the real version of the Shining. Or, "The Dining Room that time forgot."

My impression was that it was a one-horse town, without many options if any.

  2. I shouldn't even grace this thread with my oh-so-gracious presence now that some of you have been revealed to be the enemy, but I will just say that Perd(id)o will always be how I think of Sr. Martinez from now on.

Topic: repeat from last week; where's a good red blooded American (i.e. Yankees fan) to go to watch the game?

Go to Nectar with a Wankers hat on. Good times.

  3. Looks like the beginning of next week now.

    Son of a Motherless Goat!

My brother in law is getting married that weekend! Sounds like a fun event.

By the way John. Site looks nice. A vast improvement over that thing that you had before.

If I'm not mistaken, that's the summer menu. When's the fall menu rolling out/going to be put on the site?

  4. It's like Jaws or somefink, me old mucker.

"Just when you thought it was safe to go back and fry lemons." Three words: Stuffed pig. Unbelievable.

(Edited to add: Try a Bronx or two -- it's the 19th Century Gin and Juice.)

Stuffed young pig most certainly turned me into a stuffed mid-to-late thirties pig.

Just another chapter in the book of Palena beatdown issuances.

  5. Sometimes getting schooled is a good thing.

Went last week, was one of those 4 hour jaunts that feels like 15 minutes.

Jamison cooked for us and Jarad poured for us. Top notch, all.

One example of how this place kicks ass...Todd the bartender saw the reservation and held the last bottle of Becherelle. He knows I'm a chenin addict and did not want to have me go without.

This thread should never be on the 7th page again.

  6. I really like ordering armloads of food from the store in Arlington. Couple of chickens, garlic sauce (whatever the hell it's called) by the pint, fattoush, etc. (Minister, help me out here).

Not much is better than spending a Sunday eating this stuff when you're into your cups and don't feel like cooking, perhaps with the exception of the much sought after and heralded RTS.

  7. Every single word I've read here about Firefly and about/from John W would make that my first choice, instantly and without hesitation.

I am completely impressed. If it's not the real deal, I don't know what is.

The only web site for Firefly that I could find: doesn't the Kimpton Group believe in having a full-fledged site for a full-fledged restaurant? It should stand on its own, shouldn't it?

</"web site designer who wants better online representation for good entities" mode>

We are working on it as we speak. It's almost finished.
