😀 Thank You ... to be fair I'd rather not admit to exactly how long those poor survivors remained.

    Dinner 2018

I made a big batch of sausage rolls for my kids Lunch Boxes this afternoon and toddled off to other housework whilst they cooled. Something was lost in communication and a Free For All ensued. Lunches became Dinner. All that Remained.

Welsh Rarebit. Red Leicester, Aged Cheddar, Yolks, Mustard & Woster Sauce - served on Bread. AKA The Hyacinth Bouquet. Yup. It's Cheese on Toast.
  4. Technically the Hawaii Fruit Pizza at least is spot on. In our rural Queensland locale there are two cafes that make pizza, about 25 km apart from each other and some distance again from us. One offers A Hawaiian Pizza (Ham Cheese and Pineapple) and One offers a Capricciosa Pizza (Ham Cheese & Olives). At neither am I allowed to order just a Ham and Cheese Pizza. It has to be a Hawaiian without Pineapple or a Capricciosa without Olives. Woe betide you if you try and order Ham and Cheese - You will be told very bluntly that that option is not on the menu! And what really really makes my eye twitch, is that fact they're all (toppings at least) made to order soooo... Some offerings from a nation wide chain ( Pizza Capers)

While I gather your 'hatred' is caused by your current glut, I'm the unfortunate soul that actually does. Canned tomatos fine, puree fine, on a pizza fine. Fresh and Raw straight from the garden, the Holy Grail of so very many people on this forums Summer? Even the thought turns my stomach. It saddens me. But not enough to try and change my tastes!
  6. Lunch a delivered by my Beau and I decided to go for my Biennial 'Lets Give a Steak Sanga Another Chance'. This was NOT the game changer. Chippys were quite good though. 'Prime' Rump Steak, Onion, Lettuce, Cheese, Carrot, Beetroot - Tomato and Cucumber (discarded) No Sauce.
  7. Jc's Bacon & Ham flavoured Stripes. They taste of neither. I limit myself to maybe a bag a year. Australias version of Frazzles I guess (If you ever ate crisps in the UK in the 90s). Glorious. Painfully salty. Complete garbage. Delicious.
  8. Yes sorry, I wasn't very clear. Australian Slaw is much the same - cabbage, carrot, onion, lots of mayo, occasional sneaked addition of capsicum. In the case of my fish and chips it is simply hidden UNDER the last bit of fish and the salad - along with a whole pickled beetroot! I recently ate another sample of my bland curry in my mission to declutter the freezer. As I was tucking in my husband asked 'why are YOU eating that?' I shrugged and blamed the ton of food I'd managed to store and his not so subtle suggestion I deal with it. He said 'Yeah but that's the child safe curry you made to freeze for 'small dude' dinner emergencies in case you get slammed at work?' Mystery solved. Label... Label.... must Label.
  9. Pancakes for the lad. Bacon wrapped in a Crepe, Eggs & Beans (ruined with BBQ sauce as is the Australian way 😪 😀) for the Man. Fresh Orange Juice (and leftover pancakes) for Moi.

@rotuts Thanks so Much! Although I am afraid I will disappoint you, the lamb had three hours and was not in the slightest rare. I find the fattier lamb shoulder works better low and slow for my tastes but I am definitely with you on the pinkness preferred for most other lamby cuts.

Slow Roast Lamb Shoulder, Gravy with Pan juices and Red Wine, Roasties, Yorkies plus unpictured Veg. Not bad for a Tuesday work night... even if dinner was far too late and the child had to be made emergency frozen Pizza when the complaining got too much! 😏

    Dinner 2018

Garlic & Cheese Pizza Bread, Chicken Tenders, Breaded Camembert. For health, and to ensure this meal was balanced, a Margarita & a Lychee Martini.
  13. All shared three ways. Apart from the sweet potato fries. My son is in the same camp as me it would seem - sweet potato is out. Prawn Crackers, Beef Pho, " Pork Bahn Mi ", Fries.
  14. I was delivered lunch to the office today. My husband grabbed (Australian) fish and chips from the pub in an attempt to spend some time together before I got sucked back in. It was really good (and huge) for $12. I managed one bit of fish and some coleslaw before life took over, but my son had the rest for his Tea.
  15. Oh I can Please note the qualifier 'Expected' - this clearly was not a Thai Curry or anything close! It merely looked that way when I pulled the unlabelled container from the depths of the chest freezer. I freely admit I have no idea what this was meant to be - only that it was not great! (I made it. It sucked. Froze it so as not to be wasteful. Picked it for lunch. Still sh×t).
  16. Freezer find Al Desko. I can identify chicken, kale, capsicum and the sort lack of any real taste that has me coming to the conclusion these were meals stashed in the freezer in the hope we would loose power for days! I had expected it to be a Thai style curry in its frozen state. Noone to blame but myself. 🙃

Yorkie with Gravy. Lacked the inclination to do any of the other components of the traditional Sunday Roast. But the Yorkie itch had to be scratched. And while I'm admitting my laziness, I may as well admit I'm a sometime member of the Bisto club.

Potato Bake for dinner. I know one traditionally serves Potato Bake with ... well something. I am not a traditionalist, and Potato = Life.

When I was younger, I was petrified of the Tube. So whenever I had to do anything in London, my Dad would meet me at Waterloo and take me to where I needed to be. I was always early and always bought a baguette from one of the vendors, they cost £a kidney, for either egg mayo and Bacon or Pork Sausage. I didn't have the Cress to really take me back.

Hirekatsu & Tonkatsu Sauce. As with all of my forays into food of other cultures I've never tried authentic versions of - If I've really cocked it up, refer to my working title: Panko Pork Snitz, Naked Slaw & Bbq + Sauce 😁. I realise it would look all the more authentic if I had sliced the pork and drizzled the sauce. However every time I do that, I listen to the monologue about how my husbands not a child and still has all his teeth and can cut his own meat .... 🙄
  22. So my husband told me 'You have to get a handle on the freezer situtation'. I have refilled them all since our January storm. Attempting a shopping ban. My kid is sick and wanted pizza. So while I was looking for the Pork Tenderloin I know I have (it's still lost) for my husbands meal, I grabbed some frozen dough, bacon and pizza sauce for the little ones tea. Made Pizza. Long story short. The dough was actually from a really bad batch of Na'an failure and the Pizza sauce was actually a really spicy Marinara for my husbands meals. The bacon, fortunately, was bacon. But it was not good. And I really need to label things.

I suffer from seasonal confusion. Quite often my husband will come home in Australian mid summer ( he works outside in conditions that would cook me alive ) to a steaming plate of casserole, stew, a hearty roast, soup ( bowl for that one ) and just looks at me in despair... Then he leaves it and eats it cold 🙃

Delicious! I adore Kiev. Can't make it. I always ended up with an oversized if well seasoned chicken nugget and an oven tray filled with wasted garlic butter... which is a sin. If the 70s gave us Kiev and Schwartzwälder Kirschtorte then it's a winning decade for me.
  25. I think the Becorked Avocado was linked to one of the stalls, but I am struggling to remember which one, I think every produce stall had the soapy buggers though so perhaps he was more a mascot. Hobby Beekeeping is massive here, and honey is a premium product. There are all sorts of campaigns about getting behind the bees. Pretty sure I'm supposed to buy every Bee I come across a sugary drink, make it a sandwich and ask if it might not prefer I carry it back to its hive. The glass things seem to be standard, there was another one at the stingless bee honey stand. I wish I didn't have the embarassment factor and took a decent picture, the fish stall was 4 metres long, had whole fish, fillets, and the other end was liberally pilled with cooked prawns, crabs and bugs. It really was beautiful - and I don't even eat the stuff! I really didn't do it justice. There were some 41 produce stalls and about 20 food stands. Plus all the demos. Perhaps next year I'll make myself a badge that says 'Press' or something & carry a note pad. 😂
