Thanks for this challenge. I have a huge tree that’s full of baby avocados. No idea when they’ll ripen, but I’m hoping for a glut. Smashed avocado (basically avo on toast) is blamed for the inability of millennials to get into the housing market here. Love the idea of cubes in dal.

A couple nights ago I made these Indian veggie fritters, so easy and tasty. Here they are plated with eggplant bharta, green chutney and yoghurt rice. Last night was a Thai green curry with chicken, zucchini and peas. Looks boring, wasn’t.

I made an old favourite dal parippu (arguably Sri Lankan or South Indian, they both claim it), seen here with scrambled paneer, a hybrid raita/green chutney, rice and paratha. Followed this up with our first ever home grown pineapple. Several months ago planted the top of a store bought one, a bit of water and voila. This was the best pineapple I’ve had in years, so sweet and juicy.

Nah, left it out, but I chucked in a couple of Indian bay leaves (don’t tell the purists).

Last nights dinner was Hainanese chicken rice. Served with the usual accompaniments, spring onion and ginger oil, plus fiery chilli sauce and a bowl of broth.

I made some curried lentil pies for a friend, and two extra for us. Seen here with Kylie Kwongs green salad of iceberg, spinach and mint, plus homemade kimchi and a little fresh tomato chutney.

Much cooler weather last night, so I was happy to turn the oven on. From 12 o’clock - spiced rice, mango pickle, paneer tikka, green beans with coconut, dal and paratha.

How do you make your pizza dough Jo ? It looks delicious and edible.

It was so damn hot here last night, we had a mixed salad with grilled haloumi. The night before was pizza fail...old yeast I think. Topping was fresh tomato sauce, mushrooms, white anchovies, basil and mozzarella. It looks okay, but was tough enough to break teeth.

Down at the country place, I made chickpea flour pancakes. Served simply with a runny dal and pickle.

Thank you so much for sharing. We’re off to Japan for the first time in April. It shouldn’t be so cold as your trip, but will hopefully be as delicious.

Dinner last night was comfort food (I have a summer cold, the worst kind). Paneer cooked like scrambled eggs from Madhur Jaffrey, cucumber and mint raita, rice, paratha, mango pickle and a bowl of dal trevini from Meena Pathak.

No, no Hellmann’s. I used the oil from the tuna can (tuna with chilli) and apple cider vinegar to dress it.

Crab cakes are about my favourite food in the world. Yours look sooo good. Despite ideologically wanting to, I'll never be vegan.

Lovely meals everyone, you’re giving me inspiration. So hot here, couldn’t face the stove. So, the night before last we had salad. One is potato with egg, one like an ensalata mixta. It had tuna, white asparagus, spring onions, homegrown black olives, gem lettuce and an apple cider vinaigrette. Served with a slice of olive sourdough for the vinaigrette. Last night, reverting to form, was thali # 312. Cauliflower with peas from a favourite, Meena Pathak, tomato curry from Meera Sodha, dal, rice, paratha, and finely chopped potato salad, with a plop of mango pickle.

Does it count if I served some Pork belly, with Pal (canned dog food), to Patch ? He said it was very tasty.
