  1. Great! Thanks for all the replies.
  2. Am planning a 50th birthday party for a friend & want to get her a really special birthday cake - no Costco sheet cakes! Thanks for your recommendations.
  3. I wonder if it is part of the Maggiano's chain that I visited in Denver last yr. It actually was pretty good (for a chain). A check of their web site says they have a location in Bridgewater, but nothing about Paramus.
  4. We were there about two months ago. It was very good. Everything was very good, but I really thought the chicken was outstanding.
  5. I heartily second Acacia. Always wonderful, make a res for sure ← Thanks! These are the two restaurants we are deciding on - Acacia & Mediterra. We had been to Mediterra a few years ago & it was very good. Just thought we'd try to avoid that whole Princeton-traffic-parking thing...
  6. Hi Terry! Did you ever make it here? Anyone ever go here? I would welcome a new Portuguese or Spanish restaurant to try near or in Bergen Co! Rosie do you know if they got their liquor license yet... not that it matters too much to me, also what would you recommend other than the seafood? Thanks again. ← Hi, Stacey. No, we haven't gotten here yet - it's still on our list!
  7. Meeting some friends in Princeton next wk for dinner. Last time we met at Blue Point Grill. Any suggestions for places in the area? Thanks.
  8. Hi, there. If you can get a table in the front room that would be nice. It's not an overly noisy restaurant, however, we ate last yr at the bar because we couldn't get a reservation & the upstairs was a little noisy. Downstairs is much nicer. Melissa's husband (& pastry chef), Price Kushner, is usually doing front of house duties & he is very charming. Try the Zeppole for dessert - they are fabulous! I hope you enjoy it. We have been there twice now & love it each time. We have a house near Belfast & try to go to Primo at least once a year. Please let me know how you like it!
  9. We finally made it to Front Street a couple of wks ago on a Friday night. The place was empty other than a couple of people at the bar. had a great conversation with one of the owners who was packing up his smoker en route to Memphis in May. We loved the ribs - great smoky taste, delicious sauce on the side, terrific slaw. But the winner in my mind was the Smoked Chicken Drumsticks with Raspberry Jalapeno Sauce. We had this as an appetizer & it was outstanding. When we go back, I'm having that as my main! BTW: the "Pigtini" was wonderful, too!
  10. I would have to agree with Montclairite - the food & service at ShuBox were just ok. I hope something interesting opens up in that spot!
  11. Wow, I haven't been to Sammy's in years - I loved it there. It's a little bit of a trek from the Little Falls/Wayne area, but on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, it's a really nice ride (especially in the Fall). The ordering process is a little bit weird, but once you order & go to the bar, you sort of don't mind. Great steaks, chops, & lobsters.
  12. Thanks - looking forward to Front Street when it opens.
  13. hi, Daniel. yes, they had shakers on the table & i did add salt, but i always think fries & chips taste better when you salt them immediately after frying. don't get me wrong, the fries were great, just needed a tad more salt for me...
  14. there is a great Sangiovese that we get at Jerry's in Englewood - 2001 Feudo d'Elimi. It's $5.99 at Jerry's.
  15. just ret'd from lunch at Amazing Hot Dog. Had a Classic dog with fries - they were really good. the dog was nicely done. For my taste, the fries could have used a little more salt, but that's me...My husband had the Amazing (wrapped in bacon) which he enjoyed. It was nice to meet some of the other eGulleteers there, too. Good luck to Eric & the rest of the Amazing crew.
  16. My husband is craving barbeque for dnr tonight - Southern or mid-West (KC-type) BBQ (I really want to go back to Silver Oak Bistro, but I've been out-voted for tonight!) We've been to Hot Rod's & Indigo Smoke. Any other suggestions? Does anyone know if Front Street Smoke House in Elizabeth is open yet? Their web site still says the kitchen is a work in progress... thanks.
  17. Hi, Anonymouze - sorry, we didn't make it last night - the snow & roads were pretty bad around our area. we felt awful about canceling as we were really looking forward to the meal there (especially the duck which i had once before). we will definitely get there soon! glad you enjoyed it - it is a wonderful restaurant experience.
  18. we'll be there for the 8pm seating on New Year's Eve - menu sounds great.
  19. Hi, Rosie. Happy Holidays to you, too! We are having a combo holiday dinner on Sunday to celebrate Christmas & Hannukah, but thinking of going out for Christmas Eve (we better decide soon!). Our holiday dinner will combine Italian Christmas traditions and Hannakuah foods (latkes!). Enjoy! Terry
  20. i was up in that area yesterday about 4pm & they had the "closed - mechanical problems" sign on the door.
  21. i took a friend here sunday night for her birthday. service & food were very good. loved the potato chips w/the BBQ & Green Goddess sauces. my friend had the white cannelini bean soup which was great; i had the shrimp & grits, also great. for main courses, she had the duck - outstanding. i had the short ribs, which were good, but not as good as i had hoped. they were very tender, but i wasn't crazy about the flavoring. we shared the Dutch apple pie for dessert, which was very good. i would definitely go back, especially for the duck.
  22. we actually ended up going to Regina Margherita instead of Barca Velha.
  23. has anyone been here yet? we might try it tonight.
  24. yes, we were really happy with our dining choices in the Raleigh area. Anytime I travel, my first stop is to the appropriate regional eGullet board for food recommendations!
