I've always enjoyed Tim Schafer's also. Especially love his jambalaya.

They redecorated the whole restaurant and the decor and ambiance are lovely. Beautiful dishes with unusual shapes are used to serve the food--not what you would find in your neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Also, the owners gutted the kitchen and brought in all new stoves, refrigeration etc. Lots of stainless steel. And it is BYO with a boutique wine store one step away if you forget to bring wine.
  3. Great Dishes from New Jersey's Favorite Restaurants by Vicki J Caparulo, CCP and photography by Steve Caparulo, CCP. Our very own Lou Reda from An American Grill in Randolph has a recipe for veal chop in Jack Daniel's sauce with wild musrhoom ravioli in the book. Looks delicious. Fifty NJ restaurants are in the book with recipes. Beautiful gift for the holidays.
  4. Franky2Times--Where are you cooking now? I heard that one of the line chefs from Blue Sky was cooking at Liberte but I haven't been there.

What was it about my post that turned you off? I listed the more unusual dishes but the other dishes are what you find in Chinese restaurants. Don't know for sure but I assume they have specials also. I expect to get there eventually and will post more info when I do.

... Oh yeah, and Scalini Fedeli in Chatham is like dining in an Italian heaven. PS: they don't have an official website and they're byo (sort of). Scalini Fedeli has a liquor license. If you are going to BYo there ask what the corkage fee is. Sammy's in Mendham is known for their steaks and lobsters. One of my favorite places.

Other Morristown restaurants are Asahi Sushi; Frank and Claudios; Moghul; Sirin Thai and in Whippany Cinque Figlie. In Madison there is Il Mondo Vecchio--BYO and in Chatham A Taste of Asia which serves Mayasian food (BYO). Be sure to give us a report when you go out.

Thanks for your report Tommy. I was down the street Tues. night at Fascino. Shared a butternut squash risotto which I thought was too sweet. Perfer their pasta dishes. Entree was bronzini with escarole (excellent) and the fabulous pork chop they serve with the cherry sauce (no I wasn't with Lowell). Service as always was very attentive. We were too full for dessert.

I was there for a birthday party and everything was pre-ordered. However, I liked all of the dishes we tried except one which was a shrimp in a very sweet coconut milk tasting sauce. It may have been the Grand Marnier shrimp. The menu has some interesting items such as mini octopus or squid with salt and chili pepper; fish ball soup; seafood soup which I thought was great; pickle cabbage and shredded pork noodle soup;orange flavor tofu; sha cha beef or shrimp (anyone know what this is?); shredded chicken Szechuan style; Singapore Mai Fun ; salmon filet with scallions and ginger or with a black bean sauce; chicken with fresh mango; three cups chicken; Peking duck dinner ($42.95) which includes soup for two, duck lo mein, and fried rice; and crab meat with sauteed spinach. This is just a sample of the more unusual dishes. Haven't been back on my own yet and await your report.

Chefreit--Can you tell us about some of the entrees that you have put on the menu? Does the restaurant still allow smoking?
  12. Kim--Could you start a list? Thanks.

  14. You can also get Legal Seafood white clam chowder at Costco.

Never been. Send address. Will ask around. Are they BYO?
  16. Eureka!!!!
  17. Jason--Any idea who would be a good candidate to pick the menu? Someone who has been to this restaurant a trillion times and is very friendly with the chef? Someone who knows Chinese food? Any suggestions?
  18. Jan 25th is a Sunday. How does that sound?

  20. May I come, too? Everyone is invited. But who is in charge of this? Date? Menu? Price?
  21. We had kangaroo on the barbie in Alice Springs and in an upscale restaurant in Ayers Rock. Both times it was excellent.
  22. That sounds good.
  23. Not at all. Whoever is planning this needs to pick a date and follow through.
  24. Haven't been and would like to give it a try. But it's your assignment so please go and give us a report!!!
  25. Andyabramo--Sounds wonderful. Why didn't you invite us to join you!!
