  1. "Rosie - the NJ eglutton czaress " LOL Thanks for the entertaining weekly installments. Wishing you #1 on a best seller list.
  2. Village Green has "tasting" menus" which by definition mean small plates but alot of them!! Prices seem reasonable for the quality/quantity of the food. 4 courses $40 5 courses $48 7 courses $65
  3. Had no problem with the portion sizes. We had the 5 course tasting menu recently and no one left hungry.
  4. Try this link although their isn't much info. http://www.ardore.com/listing.asp?r=gazell...ergen&m=c&u=all
  5. The Petite Cafe is NOT for sale. If you haven't dined at this charming restaurant put it on your "must try" list. BYO
  6. I doubt it. The Petite Cafe is a great little restauant. Was there last week and had a most enjoyable meal. Even ran into "Nutley Resident." I assume that this is a nasty rumor by a disgruntled employee or a competitor. I am merging this topic with the original postings on The Petite Cafe.
  7. For lots of food at a reasonable price I would recommend any of the buffets in the hotels. I have heard that locals go to Angelo's Fairmount Tavern but have never been.
  8. zhelder--WELCOME to egullet. Rachel--The farmer's market in Livingston is in the shopping center parking lot behind Walgreens on South Livingston Ave. I believe it is from Noon to 5 PM.

  11. Had a great dinner last night at Girasole, which means sunflower in Italian, located at 502 Union Avenue, Bound Brook. Rob and Chef Alfonso Russo run an excellent establishment that serves consistently first-class food. Service was exemplary. When seated warm Italian bread, addictive herbed olive oil and crispy bruschetta topped with chopped tomatoes were brought to the table. We started off with mozzarella with house-roasted peppers and prosciutto drizzled with extra virgin olive oil; grilled sweet sausage accompanied by a cannellini bean salad; a fabulous “don’t miss” seafood crepe; and a portobello mushroom with a zucchini stuffing. A very generous mixed green, tomato and cucumber salad with a light balsamic dressing came with dinner. Entrees were a special of pasta with filet tips, sundried tomatoes and mushrooms; potato encrusted breast of chicken with porcini mushrooms and roasted peppers in a port wine sauce; a juicy, tender pork loin; and a perfectly cooked grilled wild salmon with a mushroom risotto. My salmon came with a champagne sauce which I told them to leave off. A mixture of zucchini, carrots and broccoli added color and texture to the entrees. After our plates were licked clean we shared for dessert sorbet and a creamy caramelized banana concoction that was served in a martini glass. Cappuccino and coffee were good. Girasole was awarded "Best Undiscovered Restaurant in Central Jersey" by New Jersey Monthly in August 2000. The restaurant is open for lunch Monday to Friday 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM; dinner Monday through Saturday 5 to 10 PM; Sunday 5 to 9 PM; BYO. This restaurant gets very busy and you should make reservations a few weeks in advance for a Saturday night. Call 732-469-1080 for reservations.

  13. Here's another one
  14. Wanted to add that Evan the eagle eyed manager kept things rolling along. He anticipated our needs, kept the new wine glasses coming and he and his well trained staff provided great service. Some of us didn't finish our entrees and I loved how everything was taken away and we were given a # to retrieve our food before we left. This eliminated the problem of doggie bags cluttering the table. The Tuscan Skirt Steak was so tender and the crisp potato manicotti was addictive. I think the chef stuffs mashed potatoes into manicotti, breads it and then deep fries the cylinder???
  15. An apology for the quality of the pictures. I found that the pixels were too big and had to crop them. Is there anyway to take a picture with a digital camera so that they upload onto the computer as 640 pixels? Or should I read the instruction manual??
  16. Amy and Curlz Stacey and Scott Frank One of the four pizzas Dessert Anthony The very talented Chefs Richard and Paul
  17. A tremendous evening. I was still so full this AM I couldn't take my vitamins. THANK YOU to Anthony and Amy for planning this event and a delcious THANK-YOU to the very talented Chefs Paul and Richard and manager Evan for the outstanding meal and service. If you have never dined at Trattoria Fresca put this restaurant on your "must try" ASAP list. Be sure to make a reservation. The heirloom tomatoes, salad and calamari/shrimp were served family style. Also, we all took our silverware, napkins and wine glasses and moved two seats to the left a few times during the evening allowing everyone to talk to each other. Frank--what a great job. Appreciate your thoroughness and giving up a few drinks so you could take notes. I think the salad also had some dabs of goat cheese. I'm working on the pictures and will try to get them on here soon. We just got a digital camera and I need to crop them to upload.
