I'm confirming for myself and Rossimania. See you then!
-
Sorry Pan, "Eh" is about all I would give this place. Food sucked = Eh!
-
I'm going tonight with a crowd from the Quarter so I'll let you know my impressions afterwards.
-
I agree that Uglies should be taken for what it is. But the last time I waited 60 min. seated inside for a softshell crab po'boy & Anthony didn't take kindly to some constructive criticism. I like the food but I'd rather not wait so freaking long for something so simple. There are just too many other choices.

Lou: great seeing you at lunch today. It was delicious as always. Please add my sales rep, Rossimania, to the list. He was with me at lunch today.

The Ridgewood Butcher on Godwin ave. is a pretty good spot and they're open on Sunday.
-
It was called the "Forest Tavern". I grew up in Paramus and drank many beers at its bar.

I saw this show last night and agree it was one of the better ones. Although I do think that Uglies has gone down hill.

I'm all for meeting at the fairgrounds for some fun. My usual routine afterwards is to go home, shower, take a serious nap, get up and see some more music. Sat night of the first weekend I'll be at a party in the Quarter at my friend's house then more music after that. But I do have to eat at some point! So let us know.

I've made my plane resv. and am going 4/23-5/1 & can't wait. JazzFest rules!! Food takes a back seat to music at this time of year. It's strictly an endurance test to see how much music you can see in as many days as you're there. Love it!!

Well...its nearly 10:15pm Friday night and I've still clouds in my coffee from last nights festivities. It was great to put faces to all of the names I've been reading about these last few years. The food & the wine was yummy! My favorite dish was the rabbit raviolis. Serve up a big bowl next time and I'm a happy man. I brought a bottle of '99 Salus cab sav, which is produced by the Staglin Family & the Franciscan Sauvage 2000 chardonnay. On the way home I broke out a Poncho Sanza Cuban torpedo (if there are any cigar smokers amongst us please let me know) which helped me make it home. Needless to say I woke up on the couch at 3am with the TV blasting! Ouch! See y'all soon on 4/21 at An American Grill. Lou: I'm coming this Monday or Tues for lunch. Thanks to all for such a great night and a special thank you to our hosts.

Count me in. I've only been for lunch, which is always a treat. So I can't wait for this one.

just the regular gas ovens. But the sicilian pans are well seasoned, the dough is coated with olive oil, which results in a delicious, browned crust. I started making pizzas when I was 14 & trust me. This is the real deal.

Rose's Pizza in Garfield has by and far the best slices, neopolitan & sicilian, all day long. And there are not too many places that can make that claim. The crust on the sicilian is delicious.

Good Luck Rosie. Arthur has a great show and I'm sure you'll be a welcome addition to his restaurant day. I'll be listening.

A friend of mine opened a restaurant in Atlantic Beach called "Park Street" that is about 10 min from JFK just over the Atlantic Beach Bridge. They are on a winter scehdule right now due to the nature of the summer resort community but will be open 7 days/week come this April 15th.

I highly suggest you do Liuzza's at the track for lunch and get their unbelievable shrimp po'boy. Its a hollowed out Po'Boy roll stoffed with the most delicious shrimp in a creole mustard sauce! Get a cold beer in a frosted mug or a bloody mary. Forget Uglies its overrated. Do the oysters on the 1/2 shell at Casamentos or the fried crab fingers. Do go to Mandich's for lunch and get the fish filet topped with lump crabmeat and bather in butter & garlic (I declined the hollandaise!) Port o'Call makes the best burgers. Lilet in very good. A drink on the 7th floor bar at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel is a must (check out the observation deck) and you have to check out the Rib Room. Big rotisserie. Maximos has a great Italian wine list and great lamb chops. Irenes is a treat for Italian food & she's a doll and my friends mother-in-law. And speaking of mother-in-laws be sure to check out the late Ernie K Does Mother-In-Law lounge! CC's is great for coffee. Frankie & Johnny's. Tipitinas for music. Pick upo a copy of Gambit & Where ya'at. Have fun! Zeman

Thanks for reminding me about the Eros Cafe. I went there once for lunch when it first opened & will have to go back for dinner And thank you too Rosie for the scoop on Greek Delights. I'll try that too! But I think one thing is clear so far: that NNJ clearly lacks for a wide variety of Greek restaurants & if you must go, NYC is still the clear choice.

I've been to It's Greek to Me in Englewood & Ridgewood but only for lunch. Benny's is great & I think the make a great Falafel sandwich & their mezze is also very good but sometimes they've got the fridge too cold & it doesn't do the food justice. However, I can't shake this (IGTM) lunch place, catch a quick bite feel about the place. I know I should try it for dinner to really push the envelope a little bit. Thanks for mentioning those other place since i have a soft spot for that kind of food. I'll have to check them out. I even asked a Greek friend of mine who lives in Paramus & he said he just goes to Manhattan or Astoria. Which is where I've been to plenty of places but I'm on the hunt for good Greek in NJ. Where are the Greek communities in the area? I always see the ads for the festivals put on by the local churches.

Where do you love to go to eat great, authentic, Greek food in Northern NJ?
-
Try La Cambusa on Maple Ave just off RT 208 in Fairlawn. The food is excellent.
-
you people have Park & Orchard all wrong. And not one of you mention the wine list, fresh fish, t-bone steak, etc. Glop you!

My favorite is S & S Cheesecake in da Bronx!
