  1. Deleted after I extracted my head from another extremity.
  2. Hardee's has come up out of the ashes (or back into the ashes?) by char broiling their burgers. They have slashed their menu to get back to the basics that gave them their start. No more chicken, no more roast beef. Their breakfasts IMO have always been the best and now the burgers just might be. Hardee's Six Dollar Burger Hardee's Thick Burgers Hardee's Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit Arby's Hot Ham and Swiss Sub
  3. Ms Mabelline....Consider me lightened up. I apologize.
  4. Ms Mabelline....... I am not here to comfort you. Which food do you think will terrify you next, and which food industries would you like to see in trouble?
  5. Mr. Whiting.... It appears that you are satisfied to rely on your anecdotal examples to slam Atkins without delving into it. Not very admirable.
  6. For Bourdain and Lagasse I would suggest gollic or possley. BAM!
  7. Mr. Whiting....The treatise on Banting is very interesting and noteworthy. I would suggest now that you familiarize yourself with the Atkins Diet: its theory, execution, and studies that have been made on the decrease in cholesterol and blood pressure; and generally better health of those doing Atkins. The diet can easily be done without purchasing anything from Atkins.
  8. I've been on the Atkins diet for over a week now. Everyone should invest in Immodium!
  9. Chef Sakai is cool. He's my favorite, especially with his presentations.
  10. Why is this over-dramatic Japanese show semi-addictive?
  11. Brushy creek is the best I've had. Huge servings. Off the beaten path, but well worth the drive.
  12. Salad Shooter.......gift........used it one time in a row.
  13. Americans don't eat lamb.
  14. "Free range" poultry is a joke. They don't run free and eat natural foods to be gathered up later in a turkey roundup. They are kept in the same digs as all the other birds with a small opening so that they can go outside in a small fenced area if they choose. They almost never choose to. Their price is a ripoff and the differences are negligible.
  15. The best soup I ever ate was Tortilla Soup in Hermosillo, Mexico. Chicken in a rich broth with slices of avocado, chunks of tomato, and floating on top were sliced scallions, jalapenos, and strips of fried tortillas. Also a small dollop of sour cream. I managed to have this all seven days of my stay. I wax nostalgic.

Southern dish polenta? You must mean grits.

    Greens

In my area of South Carolina, we prep them pretty much the way stevea suggests in the "southern" part of his post. A requirement for making it soulfood is to sautee a piece or two of country(salt cured) ham in the pot before adding collards and water, or adding a smoked ham hock as you start to boil them. Simmer covered for at least an hour until they are very soft. Pickled hot peppers and their vinegar are added to taste at the table. Other standard accompaniements are chow chow and/or pickled beets. Forget Emirel's molasses and beer. He only comes South occasionally to pick up a bag or two of American currency.

You folks seem to have a serious problem finding American food ingredients and recipes. Maybe you should try Wal-Mart and Epicurious.com.

    Can My Butt be Saved?

Mrs. Thecat, I am sorry. I didn't mean to put a pentagram into your thread. Has anyone tried your butt yet? You remind me of Lana, an old girlfriend of mine. rj

    Can My Butt be Saved?

Mrs. Thecat, Your butt should be alright. If you put a thermometer into it and it has enough Farenheit degrees in there you may rest easy. However, if you are in the UK, it has to have BTUs. I hope this clears up any concerns.
  24. I-85 goes right through G'ville. A 5-6 minute drive to Wade Hampton Blvd. Don't know why previous poster told you differently.
