I have one of these, and I find myself falling in and out of love with it. Apart from there sheer convenience factor, I really like the mellowness and lack of bitterness that it produces. The relative longevity of the brewed concentrate, stored cold in the 'fridge, is also a big + with me. If you're into the "ritual" aspects of coffeemaking, it's pretty unsatisfying, but I still like it for what it produces. As to replicating it at home, yes, I'm sure it can be done. I'm not sure how you'd easily rep the filter pad, though. Or the carafe.
