  1. Citrus? Lime? Are there two similar cocktails with the same name?
  2. Hear hear! Nice double entendre.
  3. An oldie that was new to me. I used my homemade Amer Boudreau made with 50/50 sweet to bitter orange peel, infused the full time Jamie recommends (which is much longer than Fred Yarm suggests). The result is piercingly bitter by itself. I loved this drink. Also, since I made my Amer close to 80 proof by diluting with spirits rather than water, it benefits from a long stir or service on the rocks. Nirvana by Jamie Boudreau, Vessel, Seattle, WA 2 oz Rye, Rittenhouse 100 1 oz Amer Picon, Amer Boudreau 1/4 oz Bénédictine 1/4 oz Maraschino Liqueur 1 twst Orange peel (as garnish, optional) Stir, strain, straight up, cocktail. Garnish if desired
  4. Not being negative. Tiki is tacky. That's the fun, right? I don't see Jeff Lewis doing his houses with thatched-roof bars and faux tiki gods. And an in-line six never harshes anyone's mellow.
  5. Tiki = Tacky. Admit it and move on.
  6. bostonapothecary -- how much pressure is in the gas lines? The working pressure of regular vinyl tubing is alarmingly low -- maybe 50-70 psi. Braid-reinforced tubing is quite a bit stronger, but it is stiffer. From the car world, the difference in cost for fuel injection hose (working pressure around 100 psi, burst strength around 600 psi) versus "regular" fuel hose is probably 4x. Submersible fuel hose cost is, well, don't ask. My motto: Drive, then Drink.
  7. Wait. What? You're contributing cocktails that you haven't tried. We're watching you, bud.
  8. Careful. Those are probably metric fist bumps, which are 2.2 times bigger than imperial fist bumps.
  9. Okay, stupidity ensued. My first "Professional" was 1:1:1 Smith & Cross, Cocchi Vermouth, and Campari. VERY tasty, but not professional or a Professional. My second attempt was the correct Bourbon, Smith & Cross, and Campari. Also very nice, but maybe not quite as the other. I'm not sure at what point I got the Cocchi.... I think my third attempt with be a Cocci / Smith & Cross Perfect Negroni variation. That sounds very promising. Was a Red Lantern discussed??? http://stirandstrain.com/tag/smith-and-cross-jamaican-rum/
  10. My wife loved the Professional. I made it 1:1:1. I'll try the correct ratio next. The REALLY funny part is that I found the recipe here: http://www.kindredcocktails.com/cocktail/professional
  11. Delicious. Enjoying it now. Any references. Ratio. Bar name, year, etc? It's a tough name to google for.
  12. Oh, so that's where you get all of your recipes from...He uses this:
  13. So, what did you wife think about it? Don't leave us hanging. Has she recovered? Looks like they are no longer on speaking terms.Aphrodisiac. No speaking needed.
  14. The Man Comes Around is brilliant, although I used cognac as I had no Spanish brandy.
  15. Trifecta of spousal abhorrence: Mezcal, Spanish brandy, Fernet Branca. We're having it tonight....
  16. I liked the Last Caress, but it is rather sweet. Next time I'd split the Benedictine 50/50 with dry vermouth, I think.
  17. Blah blah lopez blah colada blah pineapple blah blah stout S&C bl... Wait, what? I'd drink that!
  18. From the YouTube comments:
  19. Frog -- try this, maybe? I find Aperol to have an orange soda pop flavor by itself, but that seems to disappear when it's mixed. Aperol + Campari + Lime = bitter grapefruit. Cuatro Naranjas by Dan Chadwick 1 oz Añejo tequila 2/3 oz Aperol 1/3 oz Campari 1/3 oz Orange liqueur, Clément Créole Shrubb 2/3 oz Lime juice 1 ds Orange bitters, Angostura orange 1 Orange peel (expressed) 1 Lime peel (expressed) Shake, strain, rocks, lowball, express peels.
  20. Hmmm... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fiddy
  21. Re health risk: http://www.kindredcocktails.com/ingredient/whole-egg
  22. If that's got 1 ounce of lime (and that's about what I would put in it; I like sour), it would be sort of in the Last Word template. For example, a Final Ward is equal parts rye, green Chartreuse, Maraschino, and lemon. Doesn't sound like yuck to me.
  23. Kerry -- You've played with dominoes as a kid, right?
  24. So what did you use in your Perfect Redhook? 2 oz rye 1/2 oz Punt e Mes 1/2 oz Maraschino 1/2 oz Dolin Dry 1 homemade cherry, vastly inferior to Luxardo. I've also used 1/4 oz each of the vermouths. That works too. I bet you could do 1/3 oz of all three too. It seems to be an indestructible recipe, like the Negroni or the Manhattan.
