  1. The vietnames suggestion is good. My Italian heritage prevents myself to order a Dunkin' Donuts "coolata" although I've heard they're ok. (culata is not a word to be used in polite company)
  2. A month ago I finally ordered something besides a RPI there. I already ate 3 that week. I got their meatball sandwich. I was not disappointed. Same rolls, generous quantity of meatballs and gravy (I got extra gravy on the side but didn't really need it). The meatballs aren't rubbery and tasted great. They get my highest rating. I only mention this because sometimes you get in a rut at some places. For me it was their RPI - which is not a complaint - but sometimes it's good to try something else on the menu.
  3. Roast Pork Italian beats that. And you get the fumes coming off the WW bridge as a bonus.
  4. What is a watery burger? Except for that - whatever it means - the rest of your description sound like a place to visit for sure.
  5. Right. whiz wit. Not a number 7. Or even worse a "steak and cheese". In general if the place has a menu item named a "philly cheese steak" it's probably not.
  6. If the food is good enough I'll use the technique employed by Ralphie's little brother Randy. Goes over well at 5 star restaurants.
  7. Agree 100% on Tony's Margarita pizza.
  8. There used to be a sandwich joint on Arena Drive in Trenton named Tony Goes. A few years ago Tony Went. Is this the same family?
  9. Hey I've been down there recently, a good friend just moved from Montclair to Mt. Laurel (from the sublime to the ridiculous if you ask me) and I don't see what you've got to be snobby about. Moorestown may have won that silly Money magazine poll but they've written glowing things in the past about cities like Duluth, Mn. and you aren't going to move there any time soon and neither am I. Moorestown scored highly because of its proximity to Philadelphia hospitals, colleges, culture, history etc. but otherwise its just another upscale NJ suburb and we've got lots of those up here. Now I'm not going to tell you that everything is wonderful here above that bridge on the GSP but its better than down there. There, I said it. ← I just looked up Hubris in the dictionary and saw your name in the defintion.
  10. The one on Route 70 West is called Taco House, it's just after the Goodwill Store and before the Benihana's. ← The Taco House serves authentic tacos so don't be disappointed that they're not Tex Mex. Nice choices of meats too. On the weekends their Tamales are wonderful. I don't think they make them during the week. They make different kinds. Ask what they have that day.
  11. The only problem with your post is that Marlton is 30 miles south of the Southern New Jersey/Joizey border -- which everyone knows is I-195.
  12. Well, sir, most of Cumberland county IS south of the Mason Dixon line. Take a look at a map.
  13. I'd love to find a place where I can get a decent espresso. It doesn't have to be a god shot everytime but at least I'd like to hear a grinder buzzing right after I order. And a barista who knows what they're trying to accomplish. Anyone know such a place in the DV?
  14. Me thinks you just did. OK what categories are missing from the Best of Philly food compilation and which places should win in the categories you would add? ← Well, there is the eternal "best cheesesteak" extravaganza. Why not a best roast pork sandwich category?
  15. I had a tough time finding it using all the URLs posted. The state parameter for the PHP script got hosed in the posts. But since it was about John I kept trying. So, here is a shorter URL that you might have better luck with. And John, keep up the good work!
  16. Wawa hoagies are OK. I wouldn't go out of my way for one because of the bread but I'd eat one. They do not follow the insulting naming practices of places like planet hoagie. A turkey is a turkey, a roast beef is a roast beef and an italian is an italian. My brother in law is in charge of their ad campaigns. I suggested "Wawa hoagies: they don't suck" but for some reason they didn't go for that. :) BTW the roast pork isn't what you'd get from Tony Luke's. It's more chunky/stringy than sliced. And sharp provolove/greens are nowhere in sight. But the roasted peppers aren't bad on it.
  17. Pardon me but that was in Cherry Hill which is 40 miles south of the Joizey (AKA baja new york)/Southern New Jersey border.
  18. If I know about allergies beforehand I never tell people that I put anchovies in anything from my caesar style salad (the original had none but mine does hence the "style" qualifier) to a puttanesca sauce. Most merkins would never eat anything with anchovies. Sort of like the irrational aversion to opera. I've actually had this conversation: I hate Opera. Oh, which one? All of them. Wow. I've been listenting to Opera for 30 years and I haven't gotten around to all of them yet!

    Ethnic Pop

I'm not sure what "ethnic" means in this context. If it mean non American... Back in the 80s when I was living in London I drank a ton of a soda named Lilt. I remember liking it a lot. Through the fog of time I think it was like a grapefruit flavor. I've never seen it stateside anywhere. Is it still made in the UK?
  20. There is a place on the south side of Sansom just west of city hall. Can't remember the name. South Jersey Soft Pretzels in Somerdale and The Philly Soft Pretzel Factory in Moorestown also; but dont get a water ice at the Moorestown shop.
  21. http://hollyeats.com/UncleDeweys.htm ← I like the kingfish better. Higher bacteria count. Same road same side. ← I though I heard somewhere that one of them closed (Kingfish, I think). It's been a few years since I've taken that route to the shore. ← The Kingfish died but his sons took over. Have they folded too? I'll have to check on my next trip and I'll let you know. It would be too bad. But there are lots of Q places in that area.
  22. I am still laughing my "culata" off over that one -thanks rh ← You're welcome. BTW you were lauging your culo off. Interesting word. If you win the lottery e.g. they would say "che culo!" meaning what luck. A culata is something done with it, or to it (two word phrase in english that start with a and f) - not that I'm an expert.
  23. I just came across a distributor of Chilean beer on the web a Rockhopper Beer Has anyone heard of this beer or Chilean beer in general? I can't see myself not trying it
  24. http://hollyeats.com/UncleDeweys.htm ← I like the kingfish better. Higher bacteria count. Same road same side.
  25. I did a double take with Dunkin Donuts product named "Coolata". Go into a cafe in Italy and ask for a Culata and see what you get
