  1. As far Hama and Izumi's go, I'd have to vote Izumi's the better place purely for sushi, but Hama definately has some interesting fusion-y stuff going on. Another couple of places to look at if you're considering something higher end is Dream Dance, located in Potowatomi Casino. Emphasis on game, steak, etc. Or there's the fairly new Bionda (sp?) in the village of 'Tosa...I believe it's where Jolly's on Harwood used to be. If you're looking for foie, caviar, and truffles, it's probably the place to go.
  2. Someone who's name escapes me at the moment (and it's beginning to tick me off) actually looked into human breast milk cheese - the expert he/she consulted said it would be possible, but not very tasty. Anyone care to experiment?
  3. Chicken-pinenut salad from Beans and Barley in Milwaukee on thick slabs of whole-grain bread. 'Tho there's something to be said for (rarely) the old childhood fave of Oscar Meyer bologna, individually wrapped slices of American cheese, Miracle Whip, and Wonder Bread. This one makes me shudder when i'm sober :)
  4. Ok, so the SO and i were out to dinner for sushi one night (Takara in Madison, WI to be exact), and they included a really nifty little dish - crab (real) surrounded by what i can only guess was thinly sliced rolled cucumber - ended up being a nice cylinder of 'cuke with the crab in the middle, cut on the bias. So of course, i'm now expected to duplicate this for dinner tomorrow :P. Having now gone through 4 'cukes, i can't for the life of me figure out how they did the outside. It wasn't one single piece hollowed out. i've tried slicing it almost paper-thin, and it still cracks when i try to form it. Anyone got any ideas before i go nuts? :)
  5. All these posts, and noone has mentioned the uber-mouth-killing Cap'n Crunch?! For shame. And for the best description of said cereal, and the optimum way to eat it, check out Stephenson's _Cryptonomicon_.
