i ain't ready to hand my crown over just yet young lady...
-
i looked rachel. i swear i did. i'll edit.
-
i stand corrected. there is in fact a maywood marketplace. but i stand by my other observation until proven wrong.
-
This is where I first learned about your Beau. LOL! oh, sorry for the confusion. i meant, The Beau. i think nina said that her and her Beau (The Beau) would come early, but she couldn't get there any earlier than 7, so i was was actually referring to The Beau and not my beau. clearly i am shift-key-less, and beau-less.
-
you're a strange dude, dude.
-
i was merely supporting rachel's and others' rights to make a suggestion. personally i don't want a table for wine, so i'm not filling anyone's plate.
-
and others see a positive in it.
-
i think it's a great idea if there is enough of each type that everyone, or most, get to try each.
-
chardonnay will be the only left on the table. my wine stays with me.
-
maywood is kinda btwn paramus and hackensack. on the east side of 17, south of 4, north of 80.
-
it depends on the day and my mood. but i enjoy tabla, march, bereket, pam's thai, and numerous others.
-
either menton's humor is far more advanced than my own, or he is cdma2001, in which case, he's blatantly breaking the User Agreement.
-
there is little doubt in my mind that this is going to be the case. with the exception of the beer drinkers, assuming they'll be drinking only beer. i'm changing from a red to a rielsing or gewurtz, as i probably won't want to drink red.

there are several fine dining destinations in bergen that are byo. you'd be hard-pressed to drop 2-300 bucks there. as for the others (saddle river inn, ho-ho-kus inn, the dining room), they're all so "old-school" in my mind that i wouldn't bother setting foot in them to begin with. i am lucky in that i do most of my fine dining in NYC as i spend a lot of time there, and most of my casual "neighborhood" type dining in NJ. rarely to i feel the need to go to NYC to eat when i'm in jersey. and when calculating the cost of going to NYC for dinner, please don't forget tolls and parking, which can easily add 30 dollars.

suvir, we should probably forget about the 6.30 idea. perhaps a little before 7.30 would be preferable. anyone wanting to meet for a drink beforehand should make that thought known here and we'll arrange a meeting place outside of the restaurant. clearly i'll be *somewhere*.
-
there's a clear problem with one bottle of anything. therefore, i'll bring red. curious palates will no doubt have to exhibit some self-control and not even bother wanting to "try some red" with these numbers.

you're a smart effer. i can suggest the bar at heartbeat, which is 2 blocks up. there's also "an american place," which is on lex at about 50 in some hotel restaurant. or the W bar (horrible meat market, horrible wine), connected to heartbeat, on 51st and lex or so. lots of options actually.
-
not gunna happen. sorry, but at the end of the day, there are people who feel strongly about sitting with like-minded people. complete randomness is not an option. however, these things have a way of working themselves out.
-
suvir da man.
-
not anymore you smug bastard.
-
rachel, that's he idea we're hoping for i think. we just need clarification from suvir that we can get there earlier (that is, start occupying the room), if they're be any nibbles or something (not necessary), and if anyone besides me and the beau will actually *be* there at 7.
-
if we are really getting that entire room (which is lovely), perhas some can show up earlier for a "cocktail" hour. i think those are the best settings to meet people by far. i already know about 18 people who will be there, but there are 18 that i don't know, and i'd like to meet them rather than not. a show of hands will be difficult, but, you know, what says you all?
