  1. Unfortunately, I hadn't known about this place before reading this thread last week, but fortunately, I read the thread, and made it to the Kolachy Shop on Saturday. It was late in the day, but we had a Western breakfast kolachy, a spinach and feta, and a poppyseed. They were all very good, and I just wish there was a place in Seattle to get these--I'd be there regularly!
  2. Wow, from the pictures on their site it does look like real okonomiyaki. Can't wait to try this place out. Thanks for making my day . ← Went on Saturday and had the okonomiyaki at Modern Club, thanks to the suggestion here. It was the first time we've had this since being in Japan a couple of years ago. We had the "mixed" and it was pretty good. We also had onigiri, potato salad, and gyoza, so by the time we got to the Richmond Market, we were already pretty full. We didn't really know what to expect, as it was our first time there. However, we still managed to pack in between the two of us: 1 bubble waffle (I really liked this--I grew up on sweet rice cakes, so I'm a sucker for sweet rice desserts) 1 car wheel cake with custard 1 red bean fishy waffle 1 skewer candied strawberries 1 order shanghai pork buns (disappointing and soggy) 3 cinnamon sugar pancakes (started with one, but man are these addicting, went to get another one but hubby said he wouldn't share, so we ended up with two more) 1 coconut bubble tea Really wanted to try the takoyaki, but just couldn't fit it in. Next time.
  3. Finally had the opportunity the beginning of last month to go to NY and have NY pizza. And I have to say, that while we had a good white pizza at Grimaldi's in Brooklyn, it made me want the white pizza at #1 NY Pizza in Snohomish. A little off the beaten path, but definitely worth the trip.
  4. We stayed at the The Inn at Blackberry Creek. It's a B&B, if you like that kind of thing. We enjoyed our stay there, and the owner was quite nice. She doesn't live in the home where the rooms are rented, so it is just the guests. And she keeps the freezer stocked with pints of ice cream and choc chip cookies on the table for late night munching. She also told us the name of a taco wagon that everybody goes to (sorry don't remember the name).
  5. Oh, this is too bad... After reading all the posts about this place, I have been meaning to go there for a while, and had finally scheduled with a friend to go up there this week...looks like that will have to wait! (glad I lurk around here and found out, though, rather than getting up there and being disappointed)
  6. Oh my! I didn't know that. We stop by his place almost every time we're in Vancouver. I'll have to check that out!
  7. There's the Lumiere (Vancouver) cookbook from Rob Feenie. I don't have it, but I like his food.
  8. Greg Atkinson's (former executive chef at Canlis) books are nice, with easy recipes. I think it's his book "In Season" that has the to die for strawberry shortcake recipe that my husband requests every year during strawberry season. (and raspberry season... and peach season...)
  9. Watched this last night. Wondering if that was a eGulleter face I saw at the Gypsy dinner....
  10. I must preface this with the fact that I haven't actually had pizza in NY. However, I tried this place out after seeing this post, and have been there several times since. The pizza is good, the white pizza is fantastic. And the cannoli is good--Tony doesn't assemble it until you order it, and the ricotta is perfectly sweetened (meaning not too sweet). I'm sure this will be a regular stop for us. ←
