There is also Chumley's in Florida NY. A bit back roads to get there - north of Warwick, south of Goshen (off the NY Thruway). Should be a nice bike ride for you , Tracey. I have not been yet, but all my friends who have say its great. Now that I'm back in Bergen county, its a bit of a ride, but I still want to check it out. Dana

I thought it was Monday too, but I guess Beth would know best. What time are you opening? Schools closed and I am off so I will be there with the kids and their appetites. Can't wait! Dana

What about Triangle Hofbrau on Route 23 in Pequannock (I think)? I've never been but had heard good things about it a number of years ago and everytime I drive by I think we should try it. Dana

"Looks great, Eric, best of luck! I can't wait to try those fries you posted about. Now I have a real timetable to figure out how to get to Verona. It will be worth travelling to, I'm sure." TongoRad, we'll have to get a caravan going from Northern Bergen County- I know the way. Eric, Looks great! All the ideas you were talking about when we visited the space last month are coming to life. Can't wait til January. Dana

I agree with whitetrufflechick. Northern Bergen County would welcome you with open arms! (An ice cream place would be a bonus) Good luck where ever you end up, Glenn. Dana

Yes, I forgot about that one. The one in Preakness used to be a Bottle King or something. I think the owner's name is Matthew and he is pretty knowledgeable.

Haven't been in a while, but Beekman Wine and Liquor in Glen Rock used to be great, with a knowledgable staff. I see they have a huge website now(beekmanwine.com) including restaurant recommendations. Dana

I have not stopped telling people about Cuban Pete's all day! Rosie and Ev have told you all about the food (everything was great and the notes I took say that the dates wrapped in bacon and the pork belly blew me away!) What was also special about Cuban Pete's was the atmosphere. I have never been to Cuba, but I sure felt like I could have been there last night. Tony Ortiz did a FABULOUS job of transforming the space. It was cozy and upbeat at the same time. This is a place that is great for everyone! My teenage boys would LOVE the food and the look and the waiters with their fedoras. Cool! And I could bring my in-laws who love good food and a lively atmosphere. It was perfect for a big table with 12 of us eating a fun and leisurely meal with the back ground of Latin music, and the Sangria Bar would be perfect for several couple to spend the evening ordering appies, drinking sangria and playing dominos. Plus. I can't wait until the patio is open in the warm weather! Carl and Dominic were the perfect hosts. Good food, good vibes... Wow! I will be back again and again. Dana

If you are willing to travel slightly off of Kinderkamack in Hillsdale...there is a great authentic little Mexican diner called Cinco de Mayo on Broadway. Seating is very limited but a great place...try the tongue taco or the head meat taco!! ← My 14 yr old raved about this place and when I took him there I thought it was just alot of bland greasy cheese. Maybe I ordered wrong. I may have to give it another chance Dana

WHen I was a kid this was my parents favorite place and it was all homey and taverny and the sliced steak was great! I was back a couple of years ago and there had been a "modern" redecoration and the steak was tough and whatever the grease was on the toast points was NOT butter. SHouldn't have gone back, it ruined some great memories. Dana

Check the thread for DIm Sum Palace in RIdgewood. I think 2 people have already said they were they have the best bao they ever had! I was planning a trip there just to pick some up. Dana

Last, but not least, I'm putting in my two cents about Friday's meal.....Awesome. Certainly a wonderful first experience dining with other eGulleters. The service was friendly and attentive, the meal was well paced and everything (I guess the best part of eating with other foodies is all the sharing!) ordered was superb! The vegetable risotto that cushioned my crabello and lobster was in a class by itself. The fried lemon with the excellent frito misto was just one of the details that raised this meal to another level. And the zeppole with butterscotch dipping sauce......yum. I will definitely be going back. And hopefully dining again with my new eGullet friends. Dana

In this day and age, when death need not be quite so permanent, there are videos and internet and recordings .. In short (forgive me 'cause I just had to!), Bobby will always be with us in a manner of speaking ... ← I can't even remember the name anymore, but in the 70's there was a restaurant in NYC , rumored to be an old speakeasy, that to my young impressionable heart was sooooooo romantic. Dark, private booths, and you had to push a buzzer to summon the waiter (in case you didn't want to be disturbed!) I have NO memory of the food, but I know I was head over heels just because the young man in question thought to take me to this incredibly romantic, sexy place! Dana

Based on what I read here, I took my (adventurous) 16 year old there for lunch a couple of months ago. He still talks about the chicken curry with roti! We also had the Ginger Chicken, Buddha's Delight and a beef dish. Everything was great, large portions (enough to feed a 6 foot adolescent with leftovers). I would love to go with a large group so I could sample more dishes.

Secor Farms in Mahwah. Besides the caramel, chocolate and other fancy variations, they have the the good old fashion bright red candy apples of my youth. My teeth hurt just looking at them! Dana PS and that's ABMA'S farm in Wyckoff. Also the one place I know where you can get double yolk eggs by the dozen!

Try Secor Farms in Mahwah, I'm pretty sure I saw WInesaps there the other day. They also have candy apples..I forget who was looking for those. Dana

Is there anyone who knows (or is) a chef who would be interested in doing a hands-on class/dinner for 20 adults in northern Bergen County? Preferably with a kitchen. If so , contact me and we'll see if we can work something out.
