will not take much of an arm twisting

I am very partial to Abbraci...it is one of my favorite restaurants in NJ and has been for years...depending on the size of the party however, the room may be a little tight for you where LouCa's may be a bit more comfortable...

The Star Ledger would give the Bloomfield Parkway McDonalds three stars!!! Be careful dude. I got 2 1/2 from Cody about 9 weeks after I opened in 94/95. I opened 11/26/94 for those of you who wonder why I lapped 94/95. Gotta be honest, for what I was doing and being 28 at the time in retrospect she might have been right. If I could get 3 stars I'd open a Mickey D's. Just hate that fried food smell. Ehhh!!! Lou - your review years ago not withstanding - it just seems to me that the Ledger very rarely gives a sub-three star rating...even when their write-ups of places don't particulairly seem to be all that favorable!

Just took a look at my schedule and realized that I am in the City all day on the 6th...don't know if that date had been definitely set...if so - have a great time, if not - hopefuly I will be back in

F Zagat...I tend to agree with Lou...I have swayed towards using it as more of a directory for adresses/areas/phone numbers then anything...

what reputations we have established

Wyckoffs was exactly the place that I was thinking of and it is now gone and I believe a Blockbuster Video...thanks for ending my agony in trying to recall the name though(guess driving by wouldn't have helped me figure it out huh )

I really want you to go to that Westfield place just to tell me what the damned name of it is - come on no one knows??? Westfield - North Ave. - big white building at the center of town...
-
I think we are shooting for the 6th, correct?
-
Could you mean the Jolley Trolley? Not Jolly Trolly which is an office/Charlie Browns type place...this is a step or two above that...still searching for the name - damn this is frustrating
-
There is a steakhouse right in the center of Westfield on North Ave. that I can't recall the name of...seems to be just what you are looking for from what I gather about the place...I'll post back when I remember the name or I am sure someone else will be of help with it...

Had dinner here a few months ago...I recall my entree was a battered monkfish dish that had an Asian flare to it - a special I believe. Very different although I think it may have been better seared rather than battered and lightly fried. Overall I was impressed with the place and the food but I enjoyed their sister restaurant 3 West in Basking Ridge more. Have not yet tried the also related Trap Rock Brewery or Ciao. Huntley also seems to be very loud and bar-heavy particulairly from Thurs-Sat.

Thursday Nov 6??? I'm bringing sake

since this didn't pan out a few weeks back - anyone interested in next Thurs.(10/23) ???

first and only time here was about 3-4 years ago...I concur for the most part with the prior posts...average to slightly above average but nothing in particulair to make me want to rush back especially with places like Franklin Steak House, Terrazza and some top of the line pizza joints right in town...

just forwarded this to a gay friend of mine...she gave me the following: * The Den in Somerset on each first Saturday of the month only * Connexions in Boonton * The Colliseum in Sayreville hope this is some help...

did the strip of stores include the Chinese restaurant/buffet as well? which coincidentally began as a small takeout place where the Little Saigon took over...I will try to get more of the story from my parents who live in town as well as a few friends that I have that work for the town...

I met a friend/client of mine for dinner a week or so ago at 3 West in Basking Ridge. The overall experience was very good. We were both very impressed with the decor of the place...commenting that while it is located at the end of a strip mall, once you step inside that aspect is completely forgotten. We were there on a Thursday and the bar was quite crowded and a bit noisy. We were seated at a booth table in the back dining area which was also full. Service was very attentive and professional. I started with a tuna tar tar which was very fresh although not bursting with any added flavor. I think I would have preferred it with some infused flavor in the dish itself rather than as it was served as it was almost bland with sushi style soy and wasabi on the side (which in my opinion is becoming a very overdone trend at a lot of places). My entree was a duck breast served with a simple jus over a medley of vegetables...the dish was prepared very well with just the right amount of flavor to compliment the meat without being to overwhelming. Skipped dessert that night but the choices seemed to be rather standard. A quite impressive wine list of choices both by the glass and bottle as well. I had a 2001 Castle Rock Pinot Noir which was excellent. I would reccommend giving this place a try as the area has many Italian eateries but not much in terms of anything with variety which this certainly is. I look forward to giving Ciao the sister Italian restaurant next door a try in the near future as well.

sounds as if you have had enough sangria already being a lifelong red sox fan ( i even saw yaz play his senior year in high school - basketball as well as baseball) as most east enders tend to be i can only quote our motto we live in hope and die in despair but cubs and sox - wouldn't that be a great series to watch? so unless you are in your 90's you don't recall watching their last World Series celebration...

Kim - I agree that the place you visited are not trend-setters...I have been to several places that offer some variation of battered/lightly-fried rolls...I suppose each place looks to just add a new touch and be imaginitive...I for one prefer to stick with the "uncooked" stuff...

Let me chime in with reiterating what a great all around event it was. Much thanks to Curdnerd and Nina for providing the use of a perfect loacation and for the tour of the dairy...I for one now know a lot more about the milk/cheese process then I did the day before. Cudos as well to the Perlow's and Kim for the organization - often overlooked at these type events - certainly much appreciated and as expected - well done!!! Fink - quite simply put - the best pulled pork I have ever had - bar none!!! Great to spend time with those of you I have met before and a pleasure to meet all thad I hadn't. My only regret was that this was not a two day affair so that I could have made the rounds to try everything that I didn't get to. I honestly will say that each and every thing I tried was outstanding. A few standouts I can recall...Dumpling's dumplings, =Mark's amazing grilled portabellas(kick ass marinade!), and the best piece of pecan pie I have ever tasted(and generally I am not a fan). I'm already looking forward to the second one! Damn, how did I miss that cider - Tommy did you hide it on me???

i was wondering that myself. i've got the following: 500 plastic forks 500 plastic knives 500 plastic spoons 260 plastic plates 140 plastic bowls 360 16 oz plastic cups 120 or so 9 oz plastic cups for wine 2 cases of soda (pepsi/diet pepsi) 1000 napkins several rolls of paper towels a bottle of 409, because a clean pig pickin is a happy pig pickin, and enough plastic bags to tie up all the garbage and all of the guests if need be. also, a few folding or plastic chairs 1 or 2 3x3 plastic tables a cooler with ice one of those big round tubs for cans/bottles/etc with ice that's assuming i can fit it all. i may have to leave the big round tub thing behind. Could you please be more exact with the count on the 9 oz cups
