  1. Apologies for my awful spelling / typo in the subject heading!!
  2. Some of you may have read about my 100 club challenge at work which I have now hit and am going to RHR in May if it can be booked However one of my colleagues is due to hit her 100 Club soon and is looking for advice on Fish or Vegetarian restaurants in the UK, probably London as it helps make a weekend of things! Rick Stein has been discounted as just been a little too far to travel! Any advice please?
  3. Back to Manchester now after a long weekend in Yorkshire which culminated in Sunday Lunch at the Blacksmiths Sentiments above are echoed by myself, very nice pub, also like the way there was a decent amount of room between each table, even if an elderly lady on the table next to us had rather a loud voice! The welcome note on the blackboard for all people who had booked in was a nice touch Starters was the Black Pudding Hash Brown for myself, possibly lacked in actual Black Pudding flavour but very tasty nonetheless when combined with the rest of the ingredients. My Dad had the Seared Salmon on Potato Pancake (can't remember the exact dish) but it was lovely! Both of us had the beef for mains which was excellent and had flavour - so many pub sunday lunches serve rubbish beef. I think it would be the best Sunday Lunch beef I've had outside of my own home and to be honest would rival that. Roast Potatoes were crispy just as I like and the vegetables were good! Dessert wise I had the White Chocolate Panna Cotta with Spiced Pears which was excellent, the perfect way for me to end the meal - if only I could have brought some back to Manchester with me! My Dad had the Apple and Pear Turnover which was by all accounts delicious and was certainly a large portion! Thanks for the hospitality Gary and good luck with it all, sure you won't need it though
  4. Certainly shall do ;-) Kirkpatrick is the booking.
  5. Whilst Christmas shopping this evening I decided to get my father a bottle of Cognac and after a little while of choosing I plumped for the Delamain XO Pale and Dry. Will he be happy with my choice do you think?
  6. Congratulations on the purchase Gary! Even though I live in Manchester now I was brought up in a pub in North Yorkshire (Gilling East) until I was 17 so can definitely agree that the produce around there is great. My Dad lives in Pocklington so think I may take him along for a meal sometime in late Dec / early Jan assuming you'll be open then of course! Good luck with it all though
  7. Thanks for the reply everyone and for the welcome Some good points are raised, especially about the wine list! Will definitely be doing that! I do like the idea of he Waterside and then staying over, maybe I could get my boss to cover lunch at the Fat Duck as well! That may be od'ing in too much good food almost! Whereever I choose though I will make sure I report back on here!! Thom, am hopefully going to Juniper in the near future, girlfriend has said she will take me for my Xmas present! Not sure it's totally her thing but nevermind If I do choose RHR I better hurry up and do my 100 deals if it's going to be closed in March!!!
  8. Hi, I'm a new poster to the site, have been reading it avidly for the past couple of months and thought I ought to take the plunge and subscribe so I could post! A little bit about me, I'm 24 and work in recruitment in Manchester and love my food! However the problem I face is that nearly all of my friends would prefer to spend their money on things other than restaurants! However there is a main reason to this thread! In approx February / March 2006 I will be joining the 100 Club at my company (where you have done 100 deals) and for this you get to visit any restaurant in the whole of the UK, fully expensed of course! 200 is anywhere in Europe and 300 is worldwide! Anyways I'm looking at some advice as to where to choose in the UK. I'll confess to been a bit of a novice to actual top top drawer restaurants (i.e starred) having only eaten at The Star Inn and The Yorke Arms (went to school in North Yorkshire and family still live there). So where would people suggest? I'm pretty set on RHR but am always open to suggestion! Thanks in advance
