There something about being able to say, "Let's drink some Sex, baby."
Of course, we could play around with this for quite a while.
Wouldn't it be better to say, Let's have some Sex, baby? Of course, you could inquire about Sex at the Beach, or a Fuzzy Naval, or a Slow Screw Against the Wall, etc. But if you are serious about drinking something bubbly, I think you can get a better bang for your buck.

come down to long beach and go to taco loco: magnolia between PCH and anaheim. freshly made corn tortilla wrapped around tripas, al pastor, and asada. oh my.
You've got my mouth watering.

The last meal quest is a little tricky. I have eaten at four 3 star Paris restaurants: Taillevent, Guy Savoy, Plaza Athenee (but with a prior chef) and Grand Vefour. On the basis of those places and solely for the food, I'd go with Guy Savoy. If I were wanting a selection of really fine wine, I'd go with Taillevent. Just my opinion. Frankly, all in all, I'd probably run out to Rheims to Boyer/Les Crayeres for my last meal, etc.

Hollywood -- Grand Central Market is the best, easiest place for you and I to pick them up at lunch.
Sounds right, JF. I thought Russ might have some secret place where we could buy them freshly hand made.

You can get whole fish reasonably at Bangkok Market on Melrose.

You can scroll down to Ms. Wells' special occasion picks here. http://www.patriciawells.com/paris/ptables02.htm
And there's always L'Astrance.

Russ, I assume you've seen this thread. http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?act=ST...=0entry348516
Yeah, you must have since you contributed to it.

It would not seem that there is one greatest meal in the abstract. Rather it would appear that the greatest meal for any person would relate to that individual's tastes and desires. So, perhaps you need to reveal your preferences and something about yourselves.

Brooklyn bagel is good -- if I happen to be in the area or my brother is coming over but, on a Sunday morning it's a bit out of the way from my westside digs.
Who else.
I like Brooklyn Bagel. Some like the big doughy bagels from Goldsteins. They are good for supporting a meaningful sandwich.

Second the rec on Marmottan--even if you have been there.

John, this is not new. It's kind of like how A-listers do TV commercials in Japan.
Louisa, the Gap is now running a Madonna & Missy Elliott ad endorsing a new line of jeans. Plus ca change....

OK, let's start with the Aaron Burr Beer and go alphabetically.
What's next? Anchor?

Whoops. I guess it's 100 bottles of beer on the wall now.

So I'll admit that this is a silly Friday afternoon topic. Isn't that what Friday afternoons are for? Beer: there's lots of it. But how much really? Would it be reasonably possible to consume at least one of every commercial beer worldwide in the course of a lifetime? Or, are there enough new brews coming online that it would be like the proverbial Chinese marching 6 abreast into the ocean forever? Obviously, there are travel logistics involved here.

Wow! What an education. Of course, I never touch the stuff. Now, if you could just do the same thing for port.....

If you want truly haute Santa Cruz, you've got to get to the top of the roller coaster.

Malcom,
Reading this will provide a bit of background.
Too bad we can't see the entire article--for free.

Holiday House on Airport is still around. I have only had their bbq and have not tried their hamburgers…yet.
G.M. Steakhouse on Lamar is still alive and kicking, although they are undergoing some kind of transformation. I think after lunch the menu changes to an ethnic menu? Hopefully others can provide additional details. I have only been there for breakfast and they do a very good breakfast.
I have not heard of Moore Burgers.
Thanks for the update. As I now dimly recall, the best meat I could get on a student budget was at Nighthawk. They seemed impressed that theirs was cornfed.

Years ago, when I was a student in Austin I consumed 100s of burgers from Holiday House and Moore Burger as well as steaks at G.M. Steak House. Are those spots--mediocre though they may be--still around?

BTW, have you popped it yet?
