  1. Lots of great places! A few of our favorites include Paley's Place, Wildwood, Park Kitchen, Carlyle, Fenouil, Higgins, Olea, Ten 01, clarklewis and the Portland City Grill. Lovely Hula Hands over on N. Mississippi is also great, housed in a restored Victorian home with great service. Enjoy!
  2. George's at the Cove is great, it is now called George's California Modern. There is a a very nice restaurant at the Hotel Del Coronado called 1500 Ocean where we enjoyed a very nice dinner last December when we stayed at the Del for 3 nights during an anniversary trip.
  3. Carolyn, I just made reservations for Sapphire for next month, can't wait! Have you heard anything about Ristorante Rumari, an Italian place there?
  4. Last week we went to the Bridgewater Bistro, twice. Our first time was for appetizers which we loved. This is a new, upscale eatery located right on the Columbia River with gorgeous views of the bridge and water. The dining room is visually stunning, there is an upstairs Mezzanine Level with a fireplace as well as a spacious dining room downstairs with a bar and fireplace and comfy, cushy leather booths. Many glass windows adorn the restaurants with panoramic views, there is also an outdoor eatery area right over the water for when the weather is nice. The owners also own the Shoalwater in Seaview, WA, a fine dining venue on the WA coast which has been in business for a long, long time. The night we went back for dinner, the restaurant was completely full with a large medical convention on the entire Mezzanine level. We had about a 20 mintue wait and shared a Smoked Salmon appetizer while we waited. Our table was in the main dining area. We had already had our appetizer so I ordered an entree which was the Sea Scallops, served in a small casserole dish with yummy sides of fresh, steamed veggies. My husband enjoyed the Moroccan Chicken which he said was perfectly prepared. I love the way they do desserts here, small portions for about $3/piece, you can also order a "trio" which we did. The Chocolate Silk Pie is amazing as was the Hazelnut Cheesecake with Caramel Sauce. The chocolate Lava cake with fresh Raspberry sauce was also a hit. The bistro has something for everyone, offering food and wine pairings, children's menus, small plates and a very nice wine last, also offering wine flights. I do believe this is now my favorite eatery on the Oregon Coast, we will be regulars here this summer when we plan to stay a 2-3 month period of time in the area.
  5. Well, we finally made it to Oregon in the Fall for the first time and I have been so enjoying the beautiful Fall colors here. We came on a grape picking trip and have acquired over 800 lbs. of beautiful Pinot Noir grapes to make our own wine. Yesterday we lunched at the Dundee Bistro, by the fire, it was raining and we enjoyed the Squash Soup, I had the Salmon which was really good and prepared with a great sauce, spinach and Tortilinni pasta. We shared an Endive Salad with Poached Duck Egg which was interesting and very good. My husband enjoyed the Fish and Chips, a very nice lunch after spending time in a vineyard by Archery Summit picking grapes. We also enjoyed wine tasting at Domaine Drouhin and Archery Summit before heading over to the Oregon Coast to do our "crush." Cheers!
  6. Hi, check out Bentley's Market over on Friant and Fort Washington. They have a cool deli there and a great restaurant next door. If you're looking for a great meal, don't miss Rhema on Cedar and Shepherd, it is fairly new and we were VERY impressed when we dined there several weeks ago.
  7. Has anyone dined here lately and was it good? We are pretty set on celebrating our anniversary dinner here the end of this year. After a day in DL, dinner here sounds nice before heading over to Laguna Beach for 3 nights. Would love recs for a couple of nice dinners here also and some casual places (Mexican food) for a couple of lunches in the area. Our Bed & Breakfast sounds like it serves some good, substantial food for breakfast in the morning, there are no restaurants at the place we will be staying. Thanks for all the help, we fell in love with Laguna when we stayed at the Montage last year and can't wait to spend some quality time here on our trip.
  8. Painted Lady is #1 on our list of places to try next visit to the wine country.
  9. Sounds very nice. We loved the Heathman, also and Portland City Grill. Are you referring to the Painted Lady in Newburg? We also love Wildwood, you gotta get to Paley's Place next visit.
  10. Yeah, T. Paul's is pretty good in Astoria. We also like the Cannery Cafe where you will have excellent views of the Columbia River from the upscale little dining room there. If you like Bosnian food, Drina Daisy is really cool.
  11. The Nehalem River Inn is very nice for dinner, in Garabaldi there's a place called Pirate's Cove that has beautiful views of the water and has some pretty good seafood, the clam chowder here is also really yummy.
  12. Ashland is really a foodie's heaven, we had an excellent meal at Amuse this summer and have enjoyed several great meals at Chateaulin, also. Peerless is fantastic, outdoor dining, innovative menu and friendly staff. We were not so impressed with Lark's at the Ashland Springs Hotel, the ambiance is nice here, we love the hotel but the food is not on the same level as Peerless or Amuse. We still have to make it over to Sammy's sometime. If you're around Cenral Point, stop by the Rogue Creamery there, amazing Blue cheese, here. The Crater Lake Blue and Oregonzola have won numerous awards. We have dined all over the northern coast, let me know if you would like recs. Two of my favorites are the Nehalem River Inn and the Stephanie Inn in Cannon Beach, both fine dining venues featuring excellent food, ambiance and service. Stephanie Inn is a Fixed Price venue, so call ahead to see if they are serving something you would like. For $45/pp you are served 4 courses, including dessert, corkage fee is only $10/bottle, ours was waived when we shared some of our 2005 Willamette Valley Estate Pinot Noir with the staff. Reservations are mandatory and you must secure with a credit card here.
  13. Lots of good eats in Portland, not too far away from the Portland Art Museum is the Heathman Hotel where we had a very good dinner and brunch last summer. In the Portland Pearl District, Olea is fantastic, we had dinner there this summer. Fenouil is another place to check out in the Pearl District, Park Kitchen in this same area is great as is Ten 01. Bluehour is a trendy, buzzy sorta place with very good Gnocchi with Black Truffles. If you venture over to Mississippi Ave, there is Lovely Hula Hands which is housed in a saltbox-style home with very good food. Cozy ambiance, very good service and food here. Over in the Nob Hill District you will find Wildwood and Paley's Place, right across the street from one another. These places offer a very good example of fresh Pacific Northwest cuisine. If you want some great views with your meal, head over to the Portland City Grill, we had a very good lunch there this summer, excellent Sushi, salads and the Mahi Mahi was excellent as were the fresh homebaked cookies and Haagan Daz ice cream for dessert. I have photos of most of these places on my photo gallery here if you're interested. Have a great trip!
  14. Rogue Creamery is heaven on earth! We stopped there twice this summer and picked up some Crater Lake Blue, Smokey Blue and Oregonzola. Good stuff!
  15. Lots of good info in that thread, La Boheme has since closed and I just received an e-mail for Sierra Mar @ the Post Ranch Inn that they have recently remodeled and have made lots of nice improvements to Sierra Mar!
  16. Casanova is very nice as previously stated, we like to dine out on their back patio. I know PortaBella in downtown Carmel allows dogs, they have really good food, there is an outdoor patio there in the back for your pet. Forge in the Forest is another pet-friendly place, we have only had lunch here, it was nice. You may want to see if the Mission Ranch allows pets, they have a very spacious outdoor area there overlooking the pastures and ocean, we enjoyed the Sunday Jazz Brunch here. Have fun!
  17. You may want to consider the Nehalem River Inn for dinner, a short drive with beautiful scenery. Also, in Cannon Beach, this past Sat. night we had a very good dinner Newman's @ 988. Crab cakes, Caprese Salad, Lamb Shank and a rich chocolate cake for dessert, very good service. The dining room is small, so make reservations in advance as they book up quick on weekends. We took a day trip from Seaside last week over the Astoria-Megler bridge up the WA peninsula. Had a great lunch at 42 Street Cafe in Seaview, love the oysters here! We went all the way up to Oysterville which is such a quiet and serene place, well-known for their oysters. They have a little osyter shack there that sells oysters and all kinds of other goodies.
  18. Great report, you made it to some of my favorite places. We love Archery Summit, their wines are liquid heaven! Thanks for the report on Painted Lady, also, sounds very nice.
  19. We had a very good lunch at Portland City Grill last week, the 3 kids met us there for lunch and we had a great time together. Our oldest son loves this place for dinner and took a group of his friends here last month when they were in Seaside at our beach cottage. We had a couple of orders of Suishi, the Dragon Roll and the Spicy Tuna rolls were excellent, I had the Strawberry and Pink Grapefruit salad that was perfectly prepared and the Mahi Mahi was very good, also. We all shared the Homemade Cookies and Haagan Daz ice cream, other orders were the Crab and Mango salad, and a couple of orders of burgers. Loved everything about this place, the views were stunning, we spent over two hours there for lunch taking it all in. I can only imagine how gorgeous the views must be at night with all of the lights in Portland. Hope to try Toro Bravo and Clyde Common when we are in Portland, possibly next week.
  20. We had a very nice dinner at Bluehour this past Tues evening. It was as wonderful as I remembered it to be and the Gnocchi with Black Truffles were as good as ever.
  21. After an amazing lunch at King Estate Winery, we ended up at Bluehour for dinner. I started with the Tomato & Fennell soup which was very good with chunks of tomato in it. Our server was very friendly, I had an OpenTable dining cheque that I used here, $20 off of our bill which was nice. My husband had the Endive and Apricot Salad which was very unique in presentation and very good, I have photos of our dinner in my gallery here. I had the Gnocchi with Black Truffles, just as good as I remembered it to be a couple of years ago. Yummy! We shared a Black Currant and Chocolate Mousse pudding for dessert which was rich and very, very good. Love Bluehour, it was a great dinner before heading over to the beach cottage in Seaside where are spending a few weeks.
  22. Excellent would be a good word for our lunch at King Estate last week! The views from the outside terrace are gorgeous, we dined outside and took in the stunning views. I started with the Grilled Fresh Water Prawn Appetizer with green beans, walnuts and Creme Fraiche. This was a beautifully presented appetizer, I have some photos of our lunch on my photo gallery here. Next we shared the Warm Duck Confit Salad with Freisee greens, dried onions and roquefort vineagrette dressing. Very good! My husband preferred this to the Prawn appetizer. Our server suggest the King Estate Chardonnay to go with our lunch which was very good, clean and crisp, the perfect accompaniement to our meal. My husband had the Roasted Chicken with wild mushrooms, baby Yukon potatoes, sauteed greens which he enjoyed very much. I had the appetizer portion of the Seared Sea Scallops with sauce Aromatique, summer corn relish, spring onions and bacon lardens. This was an entree portion, very good and I loved the sweetness that the corn relish gave to the dish. We shared a Creme Brulee for dessert which was great, our server was very informative and professional. We hope to go back again in a couple of weeks, there was a Sole entree that would like to try with a glass of their Pinot Gris. Two thumbs up to this place! I'm assuiming dinner here would also be amazing.
  23. Thanks for that great info, my son just spent a couple of weeks in Spain, one in Barcelona and one in Madrid before spending two weeks in France (Paris and Nice.) We had a very nice dinner at Olea last month, one of our favorites in Portland now. We'll have 3 weeks on the Oregon Coast, so we will be in Portland quite frequently to try new places and old favorites.
  24. Thanks for the positive feedback, Cole! We are so looking forward to our time there, I will report back here with our experiences after our visit. Can't wait!
  25. I just found out that King Estate winery has a restaurant! Their online menu sounds excellent, has anyone had a meal here, especially lunch. We want to wine taste here and at Chateau Lorane (Marechal Foch) before heading up to Portland for dinner. Thanks!
