  1. We may be gong for lunch in March, I'll let you know how we like it.
  2. We dined at Artisan in October while in Paso for the weekend and were very impressed with the quality of food and service here. We also had a nice meal at the Gardens of Avila at the Sycamore Spring Resort. Also in SLO is Bueno Tavola for Italian food, they also have a location in Paso there. We are spending a nice, long weekend in the Pismo area the end of the month and would love recs for this area. Is Hoppes still a good choice in this area?
  3. Sounds perfect, thanks for the info! I have added this place to our wine country list for this coming Spring.
  4. Nepenthe is on our list for an upcoming visit to the area in a couple of weeks, can't wait!
  5. Yes, everything came from one vineyard. Next year we would love to either acquire some Zin grapes from Paso or Chardonnay grapes from the Monterey area, we have not made white wine yet but I think it would age nicely in our French oak barrel. Our Pinot Noir is turning out very well from grapes picked last October in the Dundee and North Plains area of Oregon. Cheers!
  6. Hi, we really enjoyed everywhere we tasted, I loved the Zin at Turley,, we purchased a bottle here, the Syrah at Villacana got me with the Black Pepper I could taste in this wine and we loved the ambiance and friendly staff at Villa Robles. I loved La Quinta, after dinner at Artisan I was scrambling to find lodging since we wanted to stay to get the grapes, everywhere was booked, even in Cambria. The place is very clean, our room was comfortable with a flat screen TV, very nice bathrooms with granite on the countertops and in the shower, lovely pool area and the breakfast in the morning was fantastic with eggs, sausage, lots of fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, juices, coffee, teas and we made hot waffles. They have a beautiful gift shop where you can buy drinks, wines and assorted cheeses. I highly recommend it!
  7. We had a wonderful weekend, we ended up going to Artisan and loved it! We had the fondue and a green salad, my entree was the Bourbon Braised Pork Shoulder Ribs served with a side of Sweet Potato Gratin, loved this! We had the Bittersweet Chocolate cake with gelato and Salted Caramel for dessert. It was perfect! We tasted all over Paso and ended up spontaneously spending the night La Quinta by Martin & Weyrich, I was lucky to get a room there, we decided to stay and pick grapes the next day and came home with 500 lbs. of Cabernet Sauvignon,Petite Syrah, Petite Verdot and Cabernet Franc. We found a place called Vintner's Vault in Paso that let us use their crusher, we pressed our grapes this weekend and they are now aging in glass jugs. We have made Syrah, Alicante Bouschet and Pinot Noir and want to try a blend this time. We visited Grey Wolf, Turley, Lone Madrone, Villacanna, Wild Coyote, MItchella, Firestone, Vina Robles, Eagle Castle, Castoro Cellars, lots of cool places.
  8. George's California Modern and the Crab Catcher in La Jolla are both nice places to dine, there is a small outdoor patio area at Crab Catcher with pretty views, both of these places are on Prospect St. in La Jolla.
  9. Boulevard is very nice, we also love Farallon in Union Square.
  10. We had a very good dinner and brunch the next morning when we stayed at The Heathman, next time try to get over to Andina for some Peruvian food in a fun ambiance!
  11. We love the Summerwood Merlot, also Wild Coyote does some nice ones. The Merlot we tasted at Bianchi was also very good.
  12. Yes, we need to stock up on some Zin to go with our Venison my husband and son got when they were hunting in Oregon a couple of weeks ago. My husband made a Venison Spinach Linguine with an Alfredo sauce last week that was really good. We are also interested in picking up some great Merlot in the area for the cooler months ahead.
  13. The fondue sounded good and the meatballs for appetizers. The Lamb sounds yummy with a glass of their Syrah. I'll report back if we go!
  14. Seaside Inn is now called Maggie's on the Prom, oggi where did you end up?

  16. We did a Pinot Noir flight at Gary Farrell, don't miss this place!
  17. Estate is now open nightly for dinner in the space where the General's Daughter previously was. I just received an e-mail from them. Sounds like a great place featuring Regional Italian food. The owners of girl and the fig have this place now, also. Menus look great, we're anxious to give it a try next visit to the area. www.estate-sonoma.com

  19. If you like Italian food, Buona Tavola is good. This past October we enjoyed a very nice meal at The Gardens of Avila at the Sycamore Springs Resort.
  20. Hi, keep Andina on your list, we dined there a couple of weeks ago, it was excellent! You may want to add the Bijou Cafe to your breakfast list, it is in downtown Portland. I had the Oyster Hash there that was really yummy. If you want an over-the-top dining experience in Portland, go to Lucier down by the waterfront. We loved our experience here, enjoy your dining in Portland!
  21. Hi, I am in Seaside, welcome! I would not miss Yummy Wine Bar on Broadway. This is a fantastic addition to the Seaside dining scene. We have been several times, our meal a few days ago was again, wonderful. Check out their website. They are now offering some great Fall items, I had the Crab & Mushroom Risotto a few nights ago, it was fantastic. My son and husband both had the Duck Breast which they loved, I like to do wine flights here, your server will make suggestions for you according to what you want to order. Don't miss desserts here! For Italian food go to Taste of Tuscany. If you want some great comfort food in a more casual ambiance, go to the Bigfoot Pub & Grub (weird name) for perfectly prepared steaks, ribs (Sun. night) prime rib etc. We have dined here twice in the past week. In nearby Gearhart, get thee to the Pacific Way Bakery & Cafe. We dined here last night and I loved the Parmesan Encrusted Halibut, dinners are served wity homemade bread and a your choice of a green or caesar salad. Don't miss the Marionberry cobblers here. About 20 minutes away in Astoria is the new Bridgewater Bistro where we have had several great meals. Drina Daisy for Bosnian food, Ship Inn for fish and chips and Fulio's for Italian here. Clemente's is also a great choice, they are in a new space now, beautiful building and great Salmon here. Another good place in Seaside is the Seaside Ocean Inn, a new place on the prom housed at a Bed and Breakfast. Very good food and nice ocean views here. Any further questions feel free to ask!
  22. Our meal at Andina this past Thus. night was fantastic! We ordered two small plates, the Stuffed Peppers and the Seafood Potato Cakes, both were full of interesting and unique flavors. My entree was the Tenderloin with Ravioli and Sliced Apples, very good. For dessert, I had the Lemon Cake and my husband had the Chocolate cake with Basil ice cream. Loved the food and vibe at Andina and will definitley return again.
