i don't know if this counts as salty, but...
white bread
mayo
ripe tomatoes
dash of sea salt and fresh ground pepper
assemble sandwich-style. it's making me hungry just thinking about it.

man, i love filipino food. i ate so much when i was there. the breads, the fruit...the lechon.

I just HAVE to mention that I stood slack jawed in amazement outside a Starbucks in the middle of the Forbidden City in Beijing recently....Jesus, Mary and Joseph what were they thinking????????
Unfortunately I think I know the answer
You have to admit, it IS rather inconspicuous. There's no exterior denotation for it, and it's just a counter and a refrigerated case after you do walk in.
On the other hand, in China, at McDonalds, they have this spicy chicken sandwich, made with thigh meat. The KFC there has something similar. I ate so many of those while I was there.

a thick layer of peanut butter, maybe a little honey with it. though, i prefer this untoasted.
sunny side up egg, with the gooey yolk oozing into the bread at the first puncture, with a dash of tony chachere's. drool.

I was invited to a birthday party and brought these along:
Mushroom, roasted red pepper and feta tart
Barbequed duck and shitake mushroom rolls
Strawberry cake
this is my kind of birthday party!

Fortunately for me, neither of these gentlemen would consider eating at a Taco Bell, but I can assure you I know of some of the most amazing late-night dining establishments throughout California.
really...care to share? in so cal?

i don't know why i think this stuff is so good. i pretty much have substituted water with this.
and with 0 calories and at 99 cents for a big green bottle, it's hard to stop!
anyone else tried it?

to this day, diet coke and coke zero seem exactly the same to me. am i just missing something?

mangos from south philippines. i can't even describe them with words.
in fact, all the fruit there is amazing.

thanks to this thread, i have to stock up on tater tots every time i'm at the store.
those chili cheese tater tots look soooo delicious. all it needs is a dab of sour cream and some diced green onions.

3 words:
country fried steak.

So a friend's looking for somewhere romantic to take someone special sometime soon, and I thought I'd suggest Canoe. Any thoughts?

now those are some ideas! divalasvegas - oozy egg yolk on toast may be one of the greatest foods ever. i wish all this stuff took less prep! maybe i should just allocate myself more than 45 seconds to make lunch in the morning.
i'm not proud of my lazy sandwiches. i try to make up for them with nice dinners and weekend cooking splurges.

So today, I wanted to make a sandwich. As I was about to start, I lost all culinary inspiration, and stood there wondering what to put in it. I always seem to make the "same ol same ol" deli meat and cheese or tuna/egg salad or grilled cheese.
What's your favorite sandwich?

that's a pretty hard-fast rule with me: never go shopping on an empty stomach. keeps the credit cards happy and full of credit.

the other day, i was digging through my fridge to make a sandwich. somehow, i wound up with creamy honey roasted peanut butter and cream cheese. pretty weird, but not bad. i DID have some heart pains afterwards though. ouch.

As much as I like sweets, I can't stand sweetened milk. I used to dump my sweet milk in my sister's bowl when she wasn't looking. Now, I just eat my cereal plain.
Wow, that's quite interesting. I'm definitely not a big sweets kind of person, but there's just something about Cinnamon Toast Crunch milk that just makes my day. Granted, I haven't had it since I was a kid, so who knows? Maybe tastes have changed.

there is no other for real butter. mmm. stupid lower cholesterol country crock. it really is a crock!

ted's bison burgers are quite good. and it always amazes me how little fat it has and yet still be so so tender and juicy and delicious.
i know it's not very culinarily chic, but it's hard to go wrong with a waffle house. triple hash browns, scattered, smothered, covered, and topped, with a dash of tabasco and heinz 57 really makes my day.

I re-discovered my love for Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I just stand there at the kitchen counter with one of those Costco-sized boxes, munching away.
i heart cinnamon toast crunch. i'm appalled it took to pg 3 before i saw anyone mention it! cinnamon toast crunch flavored milk is soooooo delicious.

i wanted to try to make creme brulee sometime this week, so i went out to find some creme brulee ramekins. unfortunately, they're all so expensive! cheapest i found was around $15 for 4. is that about right? how much did you guys get yours for?

between this thread and the tater tot thread, i had to go satiate my cravings and have some tater tots with sriracha.

little bowls = more to wash.
i try to minimize the amount of stuff that needs to be washed when i cook. my mise (when it does happen) usually comes in the form of a whole bunch of ingredients in one big bowl that gets dumped in all at once. if it's just small stuff, i just leave them in little piles on the cutting board, since the cutting board is already in use. man, i'm really lazy.
One good knife, recommendations?

i really like my global 10" chef's knife. granted, it's a little more on the lower end side, but i think it balances great and i love using it. and, it's really really sharp. ask my left thumb. it lost a chunk last thanksgiving.
