  1. The tomatoes from our garden are so sublime right now that I've been eating a tomato sandwich for breakfast each morning--no impulse control re: waiting for lunch. Whole wheat pita half, tomato slices, thick slices of bacon and a few basil leaves. Plenty of maldon salt and black bepper.
  2. I have an set of Nigella Lawson's over-sized measuring spoons that hangs from my pot holder and I love it.
  3. I found some wonderful ridged Armenian cukes at the Palo Alto farmer's market and used them to make nigella lawson's fattoush salad (from "Forever Summer"): cukes, really ripe tomatoes, scallions, parsley, mint and minced garlic tossed with olive oil and lemon juice, then tossed with pieces of lightly toasted pita bread and sumac. wonderful with her za'atar chicken and wonderful on its own.
  4. How have I missed hearing about this book? I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy.
  5. My ode to Voltaco's hoagies is at http://caseyellis.blogspot.com. I'm home after two weeks in Ocean City and YEARNING for a hot Italian. That's a hoagie with hot peppers, you understand.
