That much is agreed, basildog. I have never in my life seen so much bowing and scraping as when I dine with Andy, or for that matter, walk down the street with him. Although I'm well aware that he is the most famour international food writer currently living in Brighton, England, it all seems a bit much. Why, at Bibendum, they even tried to influence his opinion by offering us double the regular number of olives. ← having worked at bibendum. i know their penchant for generosity. if you can afford it .

evening all i was thinking today ( i don`t normally do that on thursdays ) , about this corner door thing . not restaurants per se , but i know of two starbucks locations with corner doors , one down the road from adesso at cornwall , and one of the robson/ thurlow sites . i cant imagine anything stopping the flow of money in that company. i `m a straight-a-head kinda guy , and feng shui don`t normally enter in my thoughts or vocabulary. me , cynical yes very. but butter thanks for making me think today i wish the guys at adesso well, door positioning or otherwise.me and Pretzels( yeah the new chic is my wife ) will pop in for some eats soon as we live round the corner .

hi lee i`m glad you went to the ordinary and had a good time . could i ask you a few questions ? if you had not read about the ordinary on egullet , and you just popped in by chance one evening , what would be your perseption of the place ? and would your post have been different ? and do you think that by comments suggesting that the ordinary is under rated, have by default made it over rated ? disclaimer ..... please forgive me if my tone is over protective of the ordinary , it`s not. more a questioning of how we react to opinions that we read on here. and if they ( or to what degree ) influence your subsqent dinner / lunch ,and ensueing post . etc etc etc ad nauseam i`m have nothing to do with the ordinary cafe apart from having had my dinner there twice and for legal reasons i dont want to fight you or anybody ( yet )

afternoon all having very recently enjoyed a plate of both neil`s gingerbread pudding and a pre- DOV sample of parkside`s sticky toffee pudding. i think that these two specimens of gustatory pleasure are the best in the city. i for one would not want the task of trying to seperate them. a nod of respect should also go to pastis for their creme caramel too. any other stand out desserts egulleters ?

yah sinister , very sinister

Great video! He sounds Norwegian or something. Yup. Like a bald, Norwegian kitchen designer. ← So, TFA, that's what you sing after gingerbread pudding, eh? I get it. ← something along those lines , yes . nice moves don`t ya think ?

first let me share my yaletownphobia with you all. and its real, egulleters , very real. i avoid the place like the plague. having said that, and after reading the posts on this forum from nwyles and learning more about the hamilton street grill. i found myself tonight wondering where mrs transfattyacid and i could have some dinner this evening. hmmm the HSG was ringing in my head hmm . but it in yaletown arrrrrrrr , needless to say i got to grips with my issues and faced my fears head on. i booked a table under mrs fattyacids maiden name which, funnily enough sounds like i`m jonesing for the now famous HSG dessert. for she was born a gingerich ginger itch gimme the fix maaaaaan !, i`ll sell my pc to fund it maaaan . we snagged a booth , got some liquids and checked out the menu , firstly this is why DOV is good , we could not normally afford to eat here, the prices arn`t steep its me i`m poor , i`m a cook and not on the big $$$ yet. great menus , both of them . and this place is so down to earth, i was actually enjoying being in yaletown . we had the $35 choice . salad , pear pecan stilton number tuna . two steaks, with a brandy - peppercorn butter. and two plates of the dessert of the moment .and bloody good it is too . it really ,really pleased us to see tastey, mindfully cooked, good food being served without pretension. after dinner we took a walk round yaletown. no rashes yet but i`m still waiting . for curiousity`s sake we ambled , arm in arm past glowbal and at that time i wish i had a fluorescent testicle, to show the patrons of chichi places exactly what they are buying in to . thank you to you neil and your staff and for your entertainment http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/lyle_24/myhero.swf ]a fat guy singing

I have been waiting to see how long it would take someone in this group to comment on how sweet the food in Vancouver is. It seems that so many of the chefs both over use sweet to enhance their food, or they are failing to use salt correctly. Is it the Asian influence in so much of the food? A palate trained by eating pop tarts for breakfast as youngsters? I run in to this over and over again. I agree with the Bins, especially the Granville St location, especially their reductions. Wild Rice as well and West for sure! Lumiere seems to really get seasoning, not sure if that carries through to Feenies, and Chambar seems to get it when they should (though I find the Tagine, which I know is supposed to be sweet, just a little too....) ← hi i think the problem is cocaine ( the customers or the restaurants i`m not sure yet ) or maybe too much ketchup , coca cola , maple syrup , and cocaine sounds like the breakfast of champions .( not mine fellow forumites, rest assured of that ). but as a generalisation of the food in our fair city. the sweet thing is a real problem for those amongst us who enjoy their food savoury. any one else share this opinion ? or am i barking up the wrong sugar cane here ?

hi all some kind of time travelling device would come in very handy for me , so i could get every thing done and still have the day off
