  1. I also saw fresh eggs at my local farmer's market today. It's in Brookline, off Beacon St. a block west of Harvard Street in a parking lot. They looked good!
  2. He's a real-deal Italian and gives EXCELLENT service!
  3. It's been a longtime favorite of my family's and has happily lasted a while in a shopping complex where restaurants are not known for their longevity. Glad you enjoyed it - next time request Kosmo as your waiter - he's a trip.
  4. grilled cheese with havarti and apples from more than just ice cream - not really a "philly food" but boy is it good!

It is definitely more casual than Clio and great food. Enjoy!

I went almost a year ago and really enjoyed it. They have a great open kitchen which I like and a very casual atmosphere with great service. I can't remember what we ate, but remember it being delicious!
  7. It's the Philadelphia Soft Pretzel Company. They have 3 small pretzels for a dollar and long ones for $1 each. Not as hot off the ovens as Fisher's but still pretty yummy.
  8. Redbones is a good bet for yummy bbq - here is their website. http://redbonesbbq.com/ Dali is great, but much further from Davis Square, closer to Harvard/Inman Square. Their website is http://www.dalirestaurant.com/.
  9. Lourdas in Bryn Mawr was supposed to be good, but I never made it there. And I second the recommendation for Effie's - always great, affordable food, good service and dining in the courtyard is fun and romantic.
  10. I recommend The Elephant Walk - they have a special celiac menu with two locations - one in Cambridge and one in Boston. It's French-Cambodian.
  11. I actually wrote a review of Shiao Lan Kung when I lived in Philly and wrote for Citysearch if any of you want more info about it.
  12. I am traveling to Ireland for the first time and my boyfriend's birthday falls while we are there. I am looking for a nice, upscale restaurant in either Dublin or Galway. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (as would recommendations for cheaper restaurants as well).
  13. I used to get my sushi grade tuna at Reading Terminal Market. Don't remember where the stand was, but it was somewhere in the middle and there were mostly Asian women working there. It wasn't too expensive and very tasty!
  14. What about Cibucan at 20th and Sansom? I have not lived in Philadelphia for a few years, but I think it is still open. They have an upstairs area they may be able to reserve for you and pretty good food. I have been browsing this section of egullet to reminisce about my time in Philadelphia and find it a much better forum than my current location (Boston) and my future location (NYC). So thanks for being such a great place to visit!
  15. Boston Rare Books on Beacon St. (at the intersection of Park) has a small but good selection.
