  1. Family is heading to Ocean City tomorrow for the weekend. I read all of the listings & we know all the great boardwalk eats, but we need a "nicer" type place for Sat night dinner. There will be 6 adults & 3 kids. Hoping for some good seafood. We are staying at 9th Street & Ocean Ave, so something close would be great. Last year we ate at a small place between the hotel & the boardwalk - I dont recall the name but it was very nice. Any ideas?
  2. I am heading to Ocean City, NJ this weekend with my family: myself, wife, 3 year old daughter & my parents. I used to go there as a kid - its been 25+ years. Any good family places to eat? Weather doesnt sound too great for the weekend - anyone know of anything to do in that area if we get rained out for the beach / boardwalk? Thanks
  3. Just wanted to put in my review..... Myself, wife, daughter (3 years old) & in laws all met at Stickeys Friday night around 6:15 pm. Place was almost empty when we got there. Me & inlaws shared 2 1/2 racks pork ribs. They were perfect..... really well prepared. We had a few ribs left over we couldnt finish. Also has a few cole slaw sides - very good slaw. Daughter had mac & cheese - her favorite & loved it - good for me - now I have another place I like that she will also eat something at. She also had the deep fried oreo's for desert & was in heaven - I tasted one & it was pretty great.... kind of like an oreo stuffed inside a zepole or funnel cake, with the powdered sugar on top.... whats not to like. My wife - very resticted diet - just had some mashed potatoes & corn bread - she seemed happy enough. Owner or mgr, a nice woman, came over & asked how we heard about it - I told her egullet - she was really nice & made sure we were happy. Crowd had picked up by the time we left - but still not very crowded. Service was very good & attentive. I will definitely be back.
  4. Just thought I would update everyone..... I emailed Fairway asking about a NJ, Route 17, in Paramus location & they confirmed they are doing it.
  5. I assume we are talking about the Fairway Market from NYC, and not the one already in Fort Lee? I am from NYC & loved the Fairway Market there- now live in Bergen County & I frequent the Fairway in Fort Lee (no affiliation I think) & while it is a good store, especially since the new renovation / addition I would still love to have the NYC version nearby. Fort Lee version just doesnt compare. Where did this news of Route 17 in Paramus come from?
  6. I live in Englewood Cliffs & can tell you Grissini is not as above described. It is a high end place - very nice - great food. Little pricey, but I think worth it. The lot is always packed with expensive cars - not Lincoln's as mentioned above. Wonderful fresh pasta & great fish dishes. Another favorite of mine in this price range, just down the hill in Englewood, is 90 Grand Grille - everything wonderful - also pricey but worth it - I love the duck.
  7. In my area - Bergen - I like: Fort lee Pizza - best regular pies Donnas Pizza in Leonia - best sicilian Kincheleys - best thin crust Burks - in Westwood - same as Kincheleys - I think someone from Kincheleys makes the pies for them.
  8. I have been to the Bicycle Club & although I eat dinner there pretty often, as I live near, I dont love the brunch. Just next door & owned by the same "HAT LADY" is Assembly Steakhouse - very nice brunch - I used to like it a little better when it wasn't buffet, but the buffet is nice & you can still order off the menu as long as you pay the buffet price. Little less fancy, but good is Moon Street in Englewood. Not buffet, but very nice & more reasonably priced.
  9. Re: Fort Lee area I never go to Al's anymore... it is dirty, old, & most usually empty. Each time I hesitantly go there - just because it is close, it looks like they are about to go out of business any minute. They always get your order wrong & one time, they had no corned beef or pastrami - I just walked out. Sol & Sol in Englewood is very good. Nice place, clean, great food & people. Also, we recently started getting food from Tenafly Kosher.... very good food, but take out only.
  10. I just last nite had my 2nd visit here & I think it is wonderful. It is indeed pricey. I had caeser salad & duck & my wife had shrimp app & steak & we shared a desert & had no alchohol & we were at $110 with the tip. I cant afford to go often but it is definitely worth it. We live nearby & used to go to Grisini as our once in a while splurge but I think 90 grand is much better for about the same money. Any one else have any opinions about this place - I never saw a mention here.
  11. I live in this area, right near Cafe Italiano & I dont think it is very good. Here is where we go: Cheap & great, especially w/ my 2 year old daughter = PIZZA KING Little nicer & decent food - nicer but not as good as PIZZA KING = Armondos Grisini - very good & very pricey Amarone - in Teaneck - very good, not pricey & nice atmosphere - they will make you anything you want - on the menu or not - we eat there often

    Cosi

Anyone know of this place? I saw it opening next to Baumgarts. I think it is same as in NYC. Anyone have info?
  13. I have only been to th Edgewater location because I live in Englewood Cliffs & that is closest. Also, everyone I know says it is the best. Re: Sizzlin Steaks - I had the same problem first time with the wait & numbers, etc, Now, we just never go at very busy times. Usually we will go at 6:00 or so & get in no problem & service is decent. Re: Smoke - the entire downstairs is smoke free - & very nice room
  14. I definitely agree River Palm in Edgewater is the best around - I am there at least once a month & it is always consistantly great. They just doubled the sixe of the restaurant. Some other good places: Steves Sizzlin Steaks in Rutherford on Rt 17 South - very good - pretty cheap - not a fancy place - as there menu says it all, steak, steak or chopeed steak, no chicken, no fish & no pasta Smoke Chophouse in Englewood is also very good.

    Amarones

I eat there often - at least once every few weeks. Great food - nice atmosphere - very reasonably priced. Robert the mgr or owner is great - treats people like family. His standard line is that if you dont see what you want on menu "we can talk" & he'll make you virtually anything you want. I highly recommend it.
  16. Assembly SteakHouse in Englewood Cliffs (Route 9W) has an awsome brunch. It is not a buffet, except on holidays. It is great & very reasonably priced... if not cheap.
