  2. Yes that is the one I am talking about. There "concept" is healthier and more creative alternatives to normal pizza chains with better ingredients. Just thought I would give it a try one night. The pestato head was the one that caught my eye, thanks for the fyi. I still wish that some place tasted like the pizza of Flatbush in my youth, but ny is ny not seattle. Will not start that conversation.
  3. Hey, I was just wondering if anyone had had the extreme pizza pizza (had, had, pizza, pizza). I saw it advertised and I know people in California et al. seem to like it. They have there menu online and it looks really quite reasonable. www.extremepizza.com. Any fyi's?
  4. I thought Vivoli was the best of the best. The dark chocolate with orange liquor was phenomenal! I also have to mention that I ate the BEST frozen yogurt I have ever had in my life. It was from this weird probiotic place that toutes the benefits of probiotics. I was just three blocks from the duomo. It was amazing.
  5. I think this idea is fantastic. They don't sell it in the u.s. But I went on the website and there are trans fatty acids in the cereal. Not the way I like to start my morning unfortunately.

    Dinner! 2005

Would you be willing to share the recipe?
  7. I found the article that Penelope Cocoran wrote in response to the readers inappropriate. It is one thing to justify the reasons for reviewing restaurants in such a manner and blantantly treating reader response's to her style as ignorant and more or less treating them (by repeating things 3 times.) as children, and stupid ones at that. I thing P.C. wrote this piece in response to the fact that next week is her last week and she wanted to go out on her own terms. However, her terms seem to involve treating the rest of her audience to her opinion of them, which unfortunately seems to be along the lines of the restaurants she has been eating at, substandard and lousy. I have worked at my fair share of restaurants in this city and the only thing I had learned about her is that she holds grudges and if she does not like the chef/owner then she in turn also does not like the restaurant regardless of whether or not the food is excellent. Etta's may be her go to, but she has a LONG standing grudge against a certain chef and reviews that follow are consistent with that. I don't know, I just have a real problem with authors that make it their job to begin to judge the people involved in the organization of the restaurant or ownership in this case, because whether or not the owner is a schmuck, which in this case I do not believe is, the food and service is what makes a restaurant and should be the determinant. I know that as human beings it is hard not to let feelings and drama enter into the workplace, but taking offense to genuine questions posted by less educated or knowledge seeking readers is just ridiculous. While, P I think you have made your opinion heard loud and clear and am glad that you will be saying ciao.
  8. I am pretty sure Whole foods has it. Call them 2069851500.
  9. Since I was about 12 I have regulated my asthma with caffeine, primarily GOOD HOT COFFEE or espresso. Does the trick everytime! Same with apples. I know for sure that caffeine is a bronchodialator.
  10. Has anyone been into the Black Cat Cafe? It is just down the street from the University Zoka's on Blakely Avenue in the University/Montlake area?
  11. olivina: i'm guessing you'll get plenty courteous service, doubly so if you feel like revealing who you are. they both seem to be very happy when fellow industry folk pay them a visit. if not, your input to them will no doubt be invaluable. (you being an incredibly gracious host yourself, that is.) ← aw shucks jon, thank you for the compliment. But I really would like to experience the abuse. Sounds kind of fun. A sort of theatre maybe. I can be a sick puppy at times. Just so I am hip to the scene, do you think the treatment is part of the business plan? Intriguing, if so. ← I think the treatment is truly a reflection of Phred. In many ways what he provides is a gift simply because he is so well educated in wine and wine pairings. If you are interested as was mentioned above this can be a bit of an education. This is the way Phred has always been even if he was working in a restaurant that was not his. That is the sole purpose of why he opened the restaurant, he wanted everything his way and truly believe he knows what is best. Do I think this is correct 100% of the time? No way. But it is not going to change his mind or his ways. He has always had a fairly significant bite to him as an employee I experienced it first hand. But as a customer he is extremely gracious UNLESS he deems you an ignoramous. It is definitely his judgement call.
  12. I worked for and with Phred and Laurie for a period of two years over at the Union Bay Cafe. This is definitely just the way they work. They are working this restaurant all on their own (which is an intentional choice.) because they believe they will provide you the best service you can get (which they will if you can get passed the fact that Phred can be a little difficult in the initial meeting for some people.). All I know if Phred and Laurie will give you the best service that you will ever have if you will just work with Phred and let him cater to you. He has a certain way of giving service, which I found out oh to well, and as a consumer that is a gift. They actually are wonderul people that are working way too hard.
