    Blu

Just came back from an amazing meal with my friend at BLU.... What a great place.. We shared two appetizers, and they were very kind and split the dishes for us. We started with seafood dumplings in a spicy cocnut sauce.. Excellent had a hint of curry. Next was probobly the best mushroom risotto I have ever had. Big, juicy pieces of portabello mushroom over a creamy risiotto. Very well presented and tasted great! For entrees my friend had the Mahi crusted with seasme over a bed of BokChoy.. Knock you out good. my Pallete was so happy with all the flavors. I had the monk fish served with a green sauce and cannellioni beans. There was two very nice sized pieces of monk fish, very well proportioned. Ok we had to have dessert and we fought over what to share. We decided on the pumpkin panna cotta. Well I have never had anything like that in my life. YUM YUM YUm... A pumpkin/ carmel flavored flan is the best way to explain it. Dinner was 34$ each and that was with tip...... GREAT FOOD GREAT PRICES. service was top notch Bravo Blu , you are now on my top 5 list!

He will eat the cooked japenese food ( tempura etc) but hasnt aquired the taste for anything I have tried yet. Anyone interested in doing an " educating Tracey" dinner???? SInce Mr. Sushi is so close I will go there and check things out. The one nice thing is I also work in Monclair so I am near a great culinary town. Thanks again Tracey The worse thing so far is I crave this stuff all the time..
  9. HI, I have just acquired taste for sushi rolls. ALthough I have not been brave with everything. I enjoy the rolls spicy shrimp and anything with crab and lobster. I havent ventured to the raw fish yet. Can I have some suggestions to mild fish. Also some good sushi resturants. I live in Lincoln Park. There is a place called Mr. Sushi, any comments about this place. My problem is they list the names of rolls but not whats in them. Feel like a dork that I dont know what is in them I need a class. Thanks Tracey

  11. Sorry The address is 206 Rt 46 Elmwood Park Phone: 201-797-7552 Hope you get to enjoy this place Tracey
  12. Maybe I am letting the cat out of the bag but this is a must hit! This place has the most extensive menu I have ever seen. You name it it has it! It has something for everyone, even the picky eaters. If you are a stuffed artichoke peson like me WELL, you must, must, must go and try theirs. TO DIE for. Moist and garlicy! you are licking your fingers at the end of it hoping to gather one more drip. And don't forget to dunk your bread! Almost as good as the Artichoke. The fried Calamari is fried crisp. A nice size portion won't bust your belly. My favorite meal is the chicken arriabits ( spelling). Chicken smothered in mushrooms and hot peppers YUMMY. I have also had their farafelle pasta with crab meat and shrimp. Hubby's favorite is a veal dish with lump crab meat smothered on top. They have a variety of specials at least 4 app, and 4 main dishes... What is not to like here... The place is small but a great wait staff. Oh hold on havent even told you about the best dessert...... Fesh strawberries with canoli cream in a wine glass...... Ok making reservations for Saturday I am craving this place again! It is NOT a byob , but a nice place.. off rt 46 in Elmwood Park Love to hear if anyone else has gone Cheers Tracey
  13. Yes that is the one. I had the Italian wedding soup and it was very yummy. I have had a couple of sandwiches there and enjoyed them. It is new, guess they need to work out things. will have to go and try their sausage. He said he will be making chicken sausage soon. There is a deli by me in Lincoln Park called A&A.. now that is the best Italian deli I have ever been too. There food is amazing! I could find something there 7 days a week. They make sandwiches and he an asortment of precooked food. they even have a whole dessert section, If you have never been you must go by. They are on Main street in Lincoln Park. Tracey

  16. We are certinly not looking for too fancy! We are a fun group and care more about having a good time with GREAT food! I care more about the food actually. I could care less what the place looks like. We cetainly dont need a romantic place.. we are way too much into being social and inviting all for a drink or two! I dont mean to say that we would not go to a fancy place but it is not the criteria. The upperline seems like a great place with a wonderful menu. I am defiantly liking that. I want to leave saying "WOW, that was so much fun and amazing food" I look for everyone's experience with these places. I did call Dick and Jenny's and they do not take reservations, they kinda laughed when I said for a group of 12 as in GOOD LUCK. we dont need a seperate room. maybe Clancy's will give us the main room! Though the idea of emerils sounds good.. how is his other place NOLA??? What about Herbsaint? I will check out some of your recommedations, but keep them coming, want to make reservation now, as we are there the week before madri gras. Cheers to all Tracey

    FASCINO

Finally after all the talk my hubby and I went. Iw was an amazing meal. After anguishing over whether to order straight from ther menu or try the tasting menu we opted to order off the menu to see if we liked the food first. Started with mussels in a white wine garlic sauce. The mussels were large and extermly tasty. Hubby had the fried Calamari. This was breaded with corn meal and had a tomoato/fennel compote. This calamari was the best I have had in awhile. Finely sliced and the breading gave it a nice flavor. A must try. For our main meal I had the sea scallops, 6 large breaded scallops accompanied by this mashed artichoke concoction. Really nice. Huby had the chicken breast with garlic and sage. Nice size and very moist. We shared a strawberry cheesecake for desert. ( wasnt thrilled about desert menu) All in all ,can't wait to go back and do the tasting menu. Sounds fun with a group of people. Cheers Tracey
  20. It is Located on Midland Ave in Montclair. Very easy to get to, right off Bloomfield Ave.
  21. Had dinner here on Monday for our Anniv. I surprised my hubby and had flowers waiting for us when we got there.. I am sooo cute. Anyway, we just visited St. Martin and brought back some amazing wine which came with us to dinner. Service, nice quick, and eager to tell us the specials. We chose to split the mussels and clams in a garlic and wine sauce. One wor... YUMMY. For salads, I had the Mista salad in a lemon vinegarette. Very mild, but nice to the palette. Hubby had the Ceaser. It was well prpared, nice touch of garlic in the dressing. Scores pretty high from someone who ate french food for 2 weeks. Main Course: I had the special tortielli ( sorry for spelling) This was made with white truffles and the accompaning sauce was made with a veal base and black truffles.. There had to be at least 8 of them all sprinkled with cheese. Now that was a delight for all who like truffles to be had. Spouse had Chicken in a wine sauce cover with proscuitto and mushrooms. This was a huge piece of chicken. It was also accompained by mashed potatoes and escerole. Took a couple of bits and enjoyed that too. For dessert we had the creme' Brulee. It was prefectly made. Hot on top but cold in the center... If you havent gone , put it on your Must Go list... We went on a Monday and the place was packed by 7:30-8.
  22. Thank you for all your suggestions. The Ill bar is a definate must as I love wines.
