Hello All First I would like to apologize for the lack of updates. A VERY close friend of mine (like a brother) passed away. He did not leave his family much money...so I sold alot of my assets...including my Airstream...in order to lay him to rest properly. Needless to say this took alot out of me both emotionaly and financialy...I have no regrets in doing so. So I am getting back on my horse now and plotting my next steps. Im kinda back to square one. I will keep you all posted. Again...from the bottom of my heart...thank you all for your interest and input. and I WILL keep in touch.

Hello All Sorry for the slow updates. Well...some things happened. Its a bit overwelming. I may end up in Detroit. I found a location a block away fom Comerica Park (Tigers baseball stadium) and Ford Field (Lions stadium). Although I will be doing business as usual in Ann Arbor. This has been the focus of my attention for the past month. Right now...it is a vacant lot within the city of Detriot...3,000sqfoot. So the landscape of this project has changed a bit. Introducing alot of other variables...The owner has had the land for years and just never came around to doing anything with it. So...I am going to see if I can make a go at this location...then when I am comfortable with the numbers I will let him know when I am ready then he will build the building. Right now...using the land is free so thats a good thing. So now I have to think about being 30-40 min away from my business, hiring the right people etc. The great news is that it is right down the block form Johnny Rockets...I so look forward to competing with them So now...I have my business plan solid, I have to form an idea of if I have a building...how would I want it to look on the outside and inside...also to make it so that I can duplicate it to other parts of the state and country if need be. Will keep you posted.

New Location Now...keep in mind that this is unwashed, unpolished and I am doing work inside...its just too cold outside right now. So this is the new location...under an overhang. Lots of posibilities with this. I can either go sit under, or drive through.... What you are looking at is the cooking side...I am going to turn it around. These windows will be covered over and equipment goes there. The inside is totally gutted.

Happy New Year to Everyone. Update. I am now doing the following. Installing new floor. Updating the electric Ordering Equipment. Looking for employees. Target open month is the end of March...beginning of April. I am now getting alot of attention from would be customers...asking when I am going to be open for business. The issue is...I am working on this project...in broad daylight...with alot of traffic. It is hard to get work done sometimes...People can hear what I am doning and come over to investigate...then I stop to explain what I am doing and when we will be open. I guess the new location is an eyecatcher The crazy thing is...I dont even have a "comming soon" sign up yet. I thought I would not draw attention to myself tooo early.

Well...I dont think thats a problem...well...maybe.... The only bad thing that happened today was the fight that happened between customers when I let everyone know how many I had left. All I saw was someone that threw a punch and then it was broken up...Boy was I glad that there were alot of police around...I think they "drank" their breakfast before getting to my stand. Oh...and the student that said he would hang himself if I did not have a burger for him...He must have been a drama student

One thing that I know is food equipment...how to fix my own..etc. I take things apart to see how they work, then put them back toghether...I can stand when someone tells me...oh you can do that!....sHeeeeeeet. I will take anything apart. Most of the time when Ive done this...I did not like what I found. Alot of that commercial equipment is kinda flimsy if you ask me. I like doing this so if I do choose to have someone else fix it...they can't jerk me! BUT Stuff that the Health Department would come down on me for...like kitchen stuff. I buy all NSF approved stuff. Things like service counters, that stuff can be fabricated...as long as its made of foodgrade approved products.

I'm pretty sure it would be less expensive to have them print your logo on the cups than use stickers. The parent company is Georgia Pacific. You can make an inquiry. If I understand small batches, like 8,000 cups are not a problem for them. ← 8,000 cups ..hey...Im not one of the big three 8000 is small...you have to remember not to shock me like that...Im still a little guy. But I will check.

Funny you should say that. Being from the NYC, I contacted a cart maker. I asked for him to send me the schematics to a $10k cart. Well...instead he sent me the cut sheet....that was a big Oops on their part. What they sent me is what they used to manufacture the cart itself...measurements and all...so....I have quickly taught myself how to weld. The only thing I am playing with is aluminum thickness and what not....that is in the works. I even invested in a nice Mig welder with gas. I figured I would needed it anyway to make counters and tables and such. My mind is allways going...its a wonder I get any sleep at all

Magus you're nothing but trouble. They don't say paper in the description but on that site they are under the paper category. Somebody must sell them in Michigan. ← THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! YOU ARE THA MAN!!! I jus did not want to have to serv drinks out of thoes gawd awful cups with thoes wacked designs on them. Every time I see them they turn my stomach.. Plain white cups, Plain white bags, with burgers in plain white butcher paper!! At least I can put my own logo sticker on these!!!

did he just say Ball Parks and Microwave.... ← Yeah, kind makes ya sick to think about it... but if it is obeying the law... besides, at $100/each I doubt many people would take him up on it... ← and I thought $100 was a typo...

O.K...I know you want to serve hotdogs but....and there is always a but...The first place to research is the Health Dept. Find out what the rules are for what you want to do...then go from there. Most Health departments will let you get away with an electric griddle because they dont have fumes from gass and no open flames. You can even use a panini grill if you really wanted to with no ventelation system needed. You will still need a three bay sink and mechanical refrigeration. This also depends on how many "servings" you plan on selling. If there is a will there is a way. Also, Check this place out...http://www.griddleworld.com Cadco PCG-10C Griddle Griddle, elec., 21" x 12" cast grill area, charcoal grey non-stick cooking surface, even heat up to 425°F, cool-touch s/s handles, removable s/s splash guard & grease tray, 3-prong SJTO cordset, 120v, 1500w, 12.5A, UL Cost $108.49 Also Most HD's will allow a stove..in which you can put a griddle top on it. Hotdogs. Sabrett Hotdogs are good for either steaming or griddle. Papaya King in new york serves these....dont be fooled...I have researched them for three years and I have seen the boxes in the back. They also serve the Saabrett brown mustard...this is big on the East coast. Sabrett is out of N.J. Serving a "dirty water" dog does take alot of watching over them. When you are grilling them...If the temp is low enough...they can be held and served at the prop temp. Grilling them gives the a snap when you bite into them, this is because the skin tightens around the hotdog themselves. I dont work for Sabrett...there are other good dogs out there as well. I think BoarsHead makes one as well as some other companies out in N.J. Hope this helps. Also...If you are thinking of expanding your menu...no doubt...you will have to make the investiment. If you are planning on steaming them...I would get something like a used two or three bay steam table. This way you can heat the dogs as well as the condiments...i.e Kraut Magus.

No Actually 20 somthings....I do get a great number of more mature customers though. I want to say so much about my idea of the decor but I dont want to let too much out too fast. ← O.K im gonna explode...I'll give just a little. First, the idea of being retro is false...we are not retro...we just never caught up Second...The pictures that I have...are all done in Sepia tone or technicolor or B&W...cant decide right now. ..dont want the focus to be on the color...just the image. During the day...WW ll era jazz and big band...stuff like that...in the evening...the music changes. So you will have a totally different feeling from the afternoon than you will 1 or 2 in the morning! The mood changes, the music changes, the people have changed....yet the quality of food and customer service has stayed the same. Thats all I can let out at this time.
