  1. I actually didn't end up taking care of it. the cop shop told me via email that I had to get 12 bottles to get an order of my favorite sake :( I will look into your leads, thanks KatieLoeb!
  2. A while back, I ordered something by visiting one of the stores. I didn't need the ID#. They looked it up for me. ← Nice, I just took care of it via their website. Thanks so much. Now I just have to wait 4 weeks. I ordered 4 bottles ;)
  3. Bigbear, I found one of the Sake I was looking for! Thanks for your help. It was a SLO product, does that mean I can have it ordered from any pa liquor store with the ID#?
  4. I am actually in Newark, so I know state line. They have an awesome wine selection there, and I go often. While they do have some sake, they did not have what I am looking for. Thanks for the tips! I'll check out the other leads! about the asian market: I know, it's such a bummer, because any japanese owned market will always stock the two brands that I am looking for. I might just have to have friends in california send me a care package, but thats just a short term solution. :)
  5. I have just transplanted from San Francisco to Delaware (right outside Philadelphia) and I can't find my favorite sake any longer. I thought that they were both fairly mainstream brands (Tousetsuka and Karatamba) but I have had no luck here. I was wondering if anyone knew any Asian markets that carried them in Delaware or a state shop in South Jersey or PA that had a good sake selection, or even an online store with them I would be very grateful. I can only find Gekkaikan here :( Thanks so much, John
  6. Yay! I have not been on e-gullet for a while, and I was checking in today to get some ideas for Hanami... I am going this saturday and sunday, and I am sneaking a bottle of my favorite sake, Tousetsuka, into a state park with the bentos. Wish me luck for not getting arrested with alcohol in public! Thanks for all the suggestions!
  7. I cant speak for everyone, but the girl who taught me how to cook a Japanese curry made it a lot thicker and a bit more mild then any indian curry I have ever had.
  8. what kind of vegetables were in it? If you ate it at someone's house it may have been a specialtiy of that house rather than a well known dish.... I can't quite remember... It was some time ago. There was a small mirepoix of several vegetables; carrots and onions for sure. I'm going to feel so stupid if kewpie was the only ingredient to the sauce, because it was incredible. thanks for the recipe link Hiroyuki
  9. Does anyone know the name of, or a recipe for a cold spaghetti pasta with mayonaise dressing and chopped vegetables japanese stlye? I had it once at someone's house and I was unlucky at finding exactly what I was looking for online.
  10. Natto! Natto! Natto! Natto! Natto! It has to be in my top five favorite Japanese foods. The more you eat it the more you will love it. my favorite way to eat it is natto gohan (over rice) with diced takuan and negi and topped with uzura tamago yolk (with a little soy sauce, karashi and a dab of vinegar) eat that every day for breakfast and you will never get sick! The takuan's crunchyness is such a good balance. I have a friend who swears by putting apple chunks in it, but I have yet to give it a try!
  11. my favorite to do at home is: Natto no Nigiri (cant get the full natto flavor with maki) with chopped takuan and negi topped with uzura tamago yolk! I could eat 20 of them in one sitting!
  12. was the Ozeki a nigori sake? I find all of them a bit too sweet myself, and about the ozeki: There are some that are made here in the US which are a little sub par, but I have had some from japan that are not bad at all. Tell your friend to look for a Junmai Diaginjo! They are the best.
