  1. I was thinking about that when I answered the question as there are only so many proteins I prepare but what I noticed is I don't have a stock meal ie every time I have pork chops I have to have baked spuds and roasted carrots with it. I tend to change up how I prepare the chops and the sides that go with it. Cooking is one of my creative outlets and a huge stress reliever and I don't have little ones that can suck the life out of creative cooking

    Costco

I will go to Costco just for their jar of garlic stuffed olives...and of course come out with a $300.00 total purchase True story!
  3. The powder reminds me of any gravy mix you can get in Canada , now the granules...they are magic
  4. I discovered I'm a one of by scrolling through my dinner pictures on facebook and noticed I don't have that many repeats. I turned to the Man and said you are damn lucky I hardly repeat a meal! Whats funny though is I'd be fine eating my favourite thing for a few days, the M likes diversity and is very open to experiments and is brutally honest when it comes to his belly! I think I repeat by missing something and starting the cycle again or changing it up somewhat. For company I believe in tried and true and when I don't follow my basic rule I serve as an app baked avocado slices wrapped in bacon...terribly disappointing baby food sort of appetizer.
  5. It appears to be the instant part that really impressed me with the granules!
  6. I wonder if this is the same as the granules? .....

I LOVE the cat swat!!! Great idea for the spuds! How did they come out?
  11. Somehow they have also captured the essence/memory of good highschool gravy from the 80's! I have a question about gravy...who saves it in the fridge? My Aunt actually tosses any leftover gravy on the day of making as she believes it can make you potentially deathly ill! I confess I save gravy but I may have tossed the bit of Bisto gravy out ....just in case

  13. Then bisto kds Here is what I'm using: https://www.amazon.ca/Bisto-5010024101381-Gravy-Granules-170g/dp/B000KEJQ9C/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1520819468&sr=8-4&keywords=bisto+gravy+granules
  14. When a friend at my Aunt's house asked her son if he wanted gravy then proceeded to boil water and go to the cupboard and add a few tablespoons of powder..quick stir and served it. I was a bit stuck up about it..like we could have made REAL gravy if you wanted....well I changed my tune fast I found out amazon.ca sells it for a reasonable price!
  15. Host's note: this discussion was split from the Instant Pot. Multi-function cooker (Part 5) topic. I do make good gravy if I don't say so m'self but I brought back Ahh Bisto gravy mix from England...just add granules to boiling water and some of the meat juices, stir and crazy delicious gravy in about 30 seconds!
  16. All veggies done in the IP...sliced spuds, a splash of chicken stock, add cream and butter, 2 green onions, 4 cloves garlic, butter, salt and pepper. Manual high for 4 minutes...let sit as long as you like, mash the curdled looking mess and keep on warm. Broc and carrots 1/4 cup of salted water 4 minutes, leave to warm as long as you need. Roast piggy from our 1/2 pig we get from a friend each year. Cracklin' omg cracklin!

  18. These are roasted spuds my Aunt in England showed me how to make: Preheat oven to 425 to 450.Peel whole potatoes, boil in salted water 4 to7 minutes until the outside is softened to about 1 cm in. Drain in the pot and with lid on shake the bejeebus out of the spuds to rough them up. Use a heavy pan..cast iron is great and pour VEGETABLE OIL *this is the secret to the crispiness* You can preheat the oil in the oven if you want. Then toss spuds in and coat them in the oil and salt aggressively. Cook 30 to 45 minutes until crispy brown, turning once. Roast was on sale last week wasTop Sirloin. The texture is good, I carve it thin. Its not melt in your mouth but its not tough. I've done this method three times now and was happy with the results each time. What is missing is the end crust from oven roasting.
  19. Back home from England and brought a few cooking tricks home with me..these roasted spuds O M G ! 4 minute medium rare roast beast again...season, saute on both sides in oil , manual high pressure for 4 minutes and leave in pot 1 hour. Slice thinly. Broc and cheese sauce, honey roasted parsnips and Ahhh Bisto gravy mix! My nieces birthday dinner.
  20. I wish he had said I like to enjoy food to the fullest on Sundays or Mondays or Fridays but the rest of the time I am just fueling my body. I feel we are here to discuss the enjoyment of food times in general. Myself I like the 'diet' threads too but my mainstay is the pleasure of food. Even if we came to the point of a 'pill' for food because we are so busy in life..I'd like to believe there are egullet rebels that would spit the pill out and make a chicken soup
  21. I'm still in England ...my Mom is still in CCU with pneumonia. I'm staying with my Aunt and Uncle and they LOVE homemade soup! I'm in heaven Canja, lemony chicken soup as per my Portuguese brother in law, clam chowder and homemade focaccia, Thai mussel soup, corn chowder with lardon and garlic toastie. mmmm mmmm good
  22. Gawd I HATE green peppers in my western. My Grumps (Grandfather owned a greasy spoon before I was born but he did NOT put green peppers in toasted westerns) Blasphemy I say! Edit to add a toasted western in my life consists of: 2 eggs beaten with diced white onion , diced raw bacon, a splash of water, a splooge of worstershire, salt and pepper. That is all, no green peppers were allowed
  23. Wait a minute! You sit in the other seat when Ms. HungryChris is there? I see your breakfast posts and always put her to the right hand side...
  24. I ordered the mini....I see yogurt in my future When I checked out at Amazon.ca I received $5.00 off.
  25. The Man brought home a huge roast I just cut it up...so this was a little guy , I didn't weigh it : /
