  1. When I read this topic from the top, It's clear, once again, for me that pleasure should be the only criterion.
  2. La Chronique is in the top classic I think. No bullshit, call it a restaurant. L'express is simply getting old (or vintage), the food to my point of view is always stable and totally standardize, you know the chef is the same for 24 years, the sous chef 20 years, and the 2 principal night cooks, Carlos a.k.a Papa 25 years and Phom a.k.a the master 18 years, i cannot imagine how the food could have change. But for sure our taste changed a lot, we are really lucky in Montreal these days...(I worked 3 years there as a waiter and Barman and trust me it's groundhoung day every day.........) Ô chalet: just cant wait the moment he will open is own restaurant Spaghetatta: mm under 'sous la protection de la loi de la faillite'in december a failed restart. CCP, raza, juni really have to go soon.......really soon My favorite tried and re-tried this year. -Jolifou -Miyako sushi -Chonique -Bu for the wines and the staff. should have more piatto del giorno -Ô chalet
  3. I've worked In a restaurant after the same award (AREA) with I.Perreault and the positive effect is really concentrated during the high touristic events or vacations...Black and blue, Jazz fest, summer vacations or long weekends, montrealers dont give a (*??*%%$(&*?* about En Route Magazine...apparently, since it's no longer a new restaurant for us! The disfferent job adds in La presse and The Gazette seems to me that something is going wrong, or she (the owner) tries to reach the expectations of the award, a chance for a new start....
  4. Vinfidel, I Love You. You are a major entertainer on this forum.
  5. Never went to Garcon! dont know if I will, Madame La Patronne, former partner of Nicolas Jongleux... I like to encourage respect in my own profession. No more comments.
  6. Baldwin Barmacy on Laurier, the place is turning in a incredible wild party on 5 a7....and than the fun goes to the the late night 20$ Lemeac special for the munchies!
  7. mmmmm....what a dangerous topic...lol
  8. I think we should define what we expect from a cappuccino or a Latte, 'cause the Italian way is totally different then the North American way. Personally a cappuccino is a strong half cup of coffee topped by a creamy sweet expertly foamed milk. Nothing like a solid Iceberg on the top of my cup... Traditionally, the cocoa powder is suppose to be inexistant or under the foamy milk, so that you see a cappucine look on the top, you know like the monks...
  9. The guys of Bu made it once again, the place is amazing, the setup and the targetting is a real success, loved the place, I thought i was in Napoli with half of the people on the sidewalk, lots of place, great bar, an all day long pleasure!
  10. The point of wine tasting is to DISCOVER good wines at EVERY price, not to rediscover expensive wines whit A reputation... I respect your point but I dont agree. I still think there is no point for a business to risk that kind of move everyday!
  11. name dropping or wine tasting?
  12. So now you need 8 costumers to sell your bottle in 1 night, it s worst, and hey 2,5 oz for a glass is only good on a flight... j'ai soif monsieur! And trust me, the day it will be ineresting with some profits to do it, you'll see it, but obviously...
  13. And also, add gas to a wine, is a half solution, you cannot convince me that you save the wine of any oxydation at all !
  14. Of course it's posible , but you dont make a living with possibility, you need facts... Sell 5 glasses of a 80 $ cost bottle means that you have to sell to at least at 35$ the glass, I am in the restaurant business for 20 years and trust me you 40 big spenders are not in the same place at the same time.....lol.... in a special event, yes for sure, but in a day to day logic IT IS NOT POSSIBLE in montreal.
  15. the problem is that you need 5 costumers in the same night ready to pay that price for a bomb and personally in montreal it's not possible...(by the glass). I wont pay for a wine open for several days...
  16. The food's still good and fatty, but the place is as greassy as their purée. Avoid the bar-open-kitchen-we -dress-dirty-and-we-love-it, you'll throw up!
  17. yeah for sure, the only reliable source! La Chronique, give them 'carte blanche..
  18. Bring your own glasses, I do, some friends does... start something
  19. Bu are opening a tourist trap downtown, nothing like a wine bar... but seems to be a wise moove, those guys no how to count$$, the cost on the wines at bu by the glass is not that bad, dont forget they serve 3oz and 4oz on the 3 glasses flight.... gives beetween 6-8 glasses a bottle, and it leaves 1 oz for the staff to taste...instead of 5 oz in other places... The food got to change a bit, or add other daily piatto del giorno
  20. exactly and totally 'assumé'.
  21. wine lovers who spend more precisly!?
  22. Bu, Pullman, and now Pop, is there enough wine lovers in montreal?
  23. The rumor turns to be a fact...
  24. How can you expect to be a good foodies site if you're way behind guys like us? You need help, profits with advertising come along with up to dates infos! I checked and you are missing at least 10 hot spots in montreal!?!?!?!?!
