  1. Depends on the mood but usually Dunkin' Donuts would be first choice.
  2. Annoying? I'm voting for the continual mentioning of Kenmore.
  3. This from Eater.com .......... SPOILER ALERT Eater has learned that Keith Greene, the favorite to win Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen, will take a dive on the the show's two-hour finale next week (airs Monday). This, so that he can stay in New York and take over Non-Frenchman Ed Kleefield's UWS canteen, Jean Luc (previously announced as closed for summer renovations). Greene will turn the venue into a Cajun-themed restaurant, ostensibly in the style of Kleefield's Mumbo Gumbo, just opened in Sag Harbor. The opening of the new restaurant is slated for September.

    Top Chef

I thought on the commercial I saw one or two folks from TC... but maybe we're both seeing wrong! It was about the CIA in NY I think? I forget - I try NOT to watch commercials. ← I believe it was for The French Culinary Institute. I saw it too. You can also see LeeAnn in the background of one.
  5. Born and raised in metropolitan Boston allows me to point out one staple of New England "Cuisine" ... Dunkin Donuts!!!
  6. From todays Seattle Post Intelligencer..... Already four shows into the first 13-part season (he has been signed for a second), Bourdain has ingested unimaginable local dishes as he has traveled through Iceland, Paris, Vietnam, Malaysia and ... New Jersey, eating as the natives do. The rest of the season will take viewers to China, Peru, New Zealand and Uzbekistan, among other places.
  7. "The publication is devoid of any pretense or nuance, so if you consider yourself worldly and sophisticated, don't waste your precious time on it." Boy, you ain't kidding. Boring and i don't consider myself worldly or sophisticated. Seemed like a high school home ec project.
  8. A tie in last night's "battle"? No decimal point scoring? Odd.
  9. Todd English in today's Seattle Post-Intelligencer talking about Autumn ... But, reached yesterday after landing in Seattle to attend an event at his restaurant, Fish Club, English sounded softer. "It was a tough decision at the end of the day. The last three were really great. I shouldn't say she (Autumn) wasn't the best pick. In the limited time that we had, her experience didn't maybe lend itself best to the position we were filling."
  10. I think the magic of television protrayed her as gruff. ANd why is it when a female is being assertive she is seen as being a b**ch and when a man is assertive he is seen as confident? You must remember it is a male dominated industry. ← Nowhere did I say or intimate she is a bitch. I know the male vs female breakdown in the industry. And I do not equate grandstanding for the judges as being assertive. She would be a very disruptive figure in a kitchen with her attitude.
  11. You'll have to excuse me if I do not define Katie's grandstanding as "leadership". IMHO leadership is more than gruffly ordering people about.
  12. You people are killing this transplanted MA/NH boy. Can't get the right hot dog rolls out here and Maine lobster is scarce.
  13. From the Food Network web site..... July 10th ... Mario Batali v Todd English (Pizza Dough) July 17th ... Cat Cora v Kerry Simon (Hamburger) July 24th ... Bobby Flay v Adam Perry Lang July 31st ... Morimoto v Aaron Sanchez
  14. Olivina ... Originally Boston and you described what I was looking for exactly!!!
  15. There has to be more, especially offering greater retail selections, i.e. oils, pastas, etc...
  16. Please help this transplant find the best Italian Deli in Seattle!!!
  17. No, who knows when the newly filmed episoides will be aired.

    Bar Americain

From Flay's website..... I am putting all that I’ve learned about the regional cuisines of this amazing country throughout my travels into Bar Americain’s menu. How does a Pacific Northwest “Cioppino” with Dungeness Crab, West Coast Oysters, Puget Sound Mussels & Sour Dough Croutons sound? Or perhaps a Southern style Slow Smoked Pork Chop with Mustard-Bourbon BBQ Sauce & Creamy Green Onion Grits? This country has so many fabulous regional specialties that I want to highlight, and Bar Americain will be the place to catch it all.

    Bar Americain

"Bar Americain"...supposed to be opening right about now. His web site says it will specialize in regional U.S. cuisines. It's on 52nd Street but I know that doesn't help you New Yorkers at all! Phone 212-265-9700.

    Mesa Grill

Have eaten at both Mesa Grill and BOLO. Superb meals w/excellent service both places. Anxiously awaiting reviews of his new NYC restaurant.
  21. Someone needs to call the police...Alex Lee was robbed. There have been several "battles" during the season that I felt could have gone either way but the final scoring didn't make me react as I did last night...I am with those who say the outcome of the CORA v LEE competition was predetermined. Absolutely ridiculous!
  22. Attn: Flay haters.....break out a new bottle of Rolaids.....on his web site he says he will be taping five new episodes in a few months!
  23. Say what you want but in 2004 I ate everywhere from Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix to Citronelle in Washington, DC, to Bobby Flay's BOLO and Mesa Grille in NYC and Flay's product was superb.
