  1. Almost all dogs (working and other) I have seen in outdoor dining areas or bars were extremely well behaved and totally below the radar. In fact things like loud cars/trucks, sirens and screaming kids are much more noticeable!!!
  2. Correct. Her taste buds are too refined. Even dogfood would be better.
  3. The answer is no!!!! and I concur with my pooch.
  4. Jaleo is always good. For a fun Saturday night place, you should also consider Firefly. Check out the thread in this forum.
  5. Worse food than Chef Geoff's? Wow -- now that's really scraping the bottom of the barrel (no pun intended).
  6. Hi. I will be in Williamsburg this weekend & was told to go to the Blue Talon Bistro on Prince George Street. Has anyone heard of/been to this establishment???
  7. Good to know -- I can't wait. Like I said, I live a 10 minute walk from Michael's bovine Shangri-La. That mean's when I get home from work, I'll walk there with my dog, smash out a glass or two (dog tethered & waiting outide of course), and return home. It was my business associate who noticed the hard-top -- now the Reindeer in the window has some company in the decorations/art department!!!!!
  8. Just returned from RTS after having dinner with a business associate. Another superb dining experience -- a perfected medium rare Filet Mignon au Poivre. With Michael & company just around the corner, I don't think I'll ever cook another steak on the Weber at the ministry again. There are some nice changes..... an addition of what looks to be a wine bar up front. Would be really cool if the plan is to put chairs there and let people smash out more wines by the glass. Also new (near the kitchen) is a more segregated (by another one of those old wooden government cabinets now filled with wine bottles) private party/group table. This looks really nice and intimate for groups of friends, business dinners, or if you just want to discuss clipping someone with your letharious underworld contacts. Needless to say, I will be back soon!!!!!!!!
  9. Given the time many people spend in airports due to delays, security, etc..., drinking there is where it's at, save for Crapuel Adams of course. Cheers and safe travels!
  10. Sorry you had to go through that. It was much better 5 years ago when John W. and yours truly needed a beer at 8:00 am prior to boarding (yes, they were open!). Instead of Samuel Adams, you should try a Samuel Jackson: http://www.comedycentral.com/tv_shows/chap...l?startIndex=25
  11. I liiiiiike!!! Ate at at the bar tonight accompanied by some other perpetrators. Among us, most of the bar menu was smashed out, including that dope fresh soup. I love the simplicity... I mean a hearty chicken broth base with the tomato and bread added... then that perfectly poached egg!!! Supersize me on my next visit which will be soon. Other highlights included some exceptional wines -- but I'll defer to some of the other peeps there tonight! A big "chen-cui" to Derek and the gang!!!!
  12. No. Don't think you are being mean. The Chef Geoffs empire needs to be wrapped in tin foil and shot to the sun for posterity. The place (s) SUCK!
  13. As explained to me a long time ago whilst in the Middle East, the garlic paste is crushed garlic that is blended/whipped into a frothy paste. During the blending process, they hold ice cubes (that melt drop by drop) over the paste. It takes about 45 minutes to make about a pint. Good idea for Sunday and the game! Now just to select the booze.
  14. JennyUptown: If you ever do make it out to VA, don't go to LT. You should try Layalana Restaurant in Arlington -- truly authentic, delicious Lebanese/Syrian food with impeccable, friendly service. Somewhere there is a thread on EG.
  15. Booyaka! Rezpek. Tonight was da best yet at RTS. Unforntunately, the lot of us took an oath not to reveal certain yummies!~!!!!!!!! So just go and put in your time and you will see, or taste!
  16. That's exactly what has been on my mind (and the minds of some others in the EG community) for the last week or so. As such, this Sunday's gorging and imbibing will take place at Michael's house, not mine!
  17. I couldn't agree more: "daSto" in and of itself really has nothing to do with food and restaurants! According to the first post on this thread, daSTO will sell "classic replica aprons, cards, gifts, vintage cook books and appliances, unique and hard to find packaged food, specialty baked goods by Polly Style...a whole assortment of kitchen kitsch." Apart from the baked goods, this sounds like a classic small retail store. The only link here is that the owner just happens to own a restaurant -- one that I can't wait to visit. Other retail enterprises such as gas stations for example, sell packaged food and even baked goods -- I don't see them on EG??? As for the name, we should just let it be! If enough people are really put off by it, they simply will not shop at daSto and then it will die a natural death based on supply and demand (of customers). However, somehow I think that this will not happen I certainly hope not!!! If I am missing something please tell me!
  18. I'll chime in as well .... Nectar, Nectar, Nectar!!!!! Bon appétit!
  19. In my opinion, Chincoteague is not a place for true fine dining. You can get good food (especially Oysters, crab cakes and stuffed flounder -- but most establishments tend to be quite touristy. One thing your should try is tea at the Channel Bass Inn. Bomb-like with excellent service. For other information on Chincoteague eats I refer you to: http://www.chincoteague.com/ Decide for yourself. MoD
  20. John, Several times over the last few weeks I have seen you indulging at Teasim on R street (honestly, I am not stalking you--but I go to Teasim everyday and have been to Firefly many times--so you are recognizable). Since you seem to love tea, I was just wondering if you plan on offering a bigger selection of teabags at Firelfy?????
  21. Tood, I found your post hard to get though (sort of like your columns [alert: JOKE]). But you make ALOT of assumptions. Are you projecting? Amen brutha! I needed a drink to relax my mind after reading that. In fact I need to bust out a case of Bull after reading this entire thread!!!! People, loosen up!!! (I'd should really say "lighten" up but that would be adding fuel to the fire).
  22. I like riff-raff. All I was saying is that the service is sucking and the food has gone from good to just OK in my experience. I'll still go there though, I think. For now. Maybe the service at the table is shoddy -- although the last time I dined tableside in was too liquored up (in my capacity as Minister of Drink) to remember the quality of service. In any case, I suggest you try sitting at the bar, order a bottle and smash out a pizza. My favourite Serbian bartendress never disappoints! Cheers!
  23. Having been to Sette many times now (although a mere piddle in the sea compared to John W.), I don't think I've ever seen the Eurotrash or Persian Mafia types that frequent Milano. The people who frequent Sette seem much more down to earth.
  24. Uh, I just think it is unimaginative and dumb. Never said anything about it being offensive, buddy. Be dair some thraid on da Colorado Kitchen? As fah' as "dasto" be concerned, I could care less about da damn name. Howeva', I haid-scratch (down low, from some business puh'spective) if it be wise t' jimmey anotha' "foodie" shop wit' all da Fresh Fields, Sutton Place an' Dain &Deluca alraidy in da house. Jus a thought so slap ma fro if I be wrong.
  25. Right. Thanks Bill, I forgot. Gives me enough time to purchase firearms. Edited.. clarification: Before everyone here takes this personally, the Tools I refer to are those that usually never go out during the other 51 weeks in the year--whether they can afford to or not. Oh Boy!!! Looks like the tools have been let out of the shed this week. Firearms? I disagree -- too quick and painless!
