  1. Sorry Spaghetti, I was mistaken it is a crab meat & pork mix XLB at New Green bo , Goody's on 1 east broadway , Joe's shanghai , and Shanghai Gourmet in Chinatown.
  2. Do you eat seafood? There's crab xiao long bao. -Pat
  3. I'm thinking about taking the family for dinner at North American Lobster Company on Rt. 17 in Carlstadt. Any feedback or reviews of this place? I know this restaurant has been around for a while.
  4. Can't wait to go back to San Francisco to try out some more Dim Sum eateries especially Y Ben. I just went to the farmers market here in New York City (union square). Damn, do I miss the market there at the Ferry Building.
  5. I gotta have the hot dog all the way at the Hot Grill with the fries and gravy. Another one of my favorites in college was Dickie Dee's in Newark , tasty fried dogs on a pita bread with peppers, onions, & potato.
  6. Traditional Dim Sum at China Garden in Clifton on Main Ave. off rt. 3 is pretty good. It is a few blocks away from Costco , across the street from a cemetery. They don't have the waitresses rolling the cart with dim sum. You have to order it on the dim sum menu. For hong kong style entrees & noodles are good there too. If we have big family get togethers, we usually go with to China Garden & order their preset banquet style dishes. China Chef in Secaucus serves good dim sum on the weekends as well.
  7. Where is Lou's restaurant located?
  8. I wished I would of seen some more of these reviews after I posted it cause I would have liked to have tried Ton Kiang & Y Ben. I went instead to a Grand Palace , I think that was the name. It was on Grant Ave. I thought it was OK , nothing special. The service there seems to more friendlier than some of the other chinatown restaurants. Although, I have to say the service in San Francisco Chinatown seems to more tourist friendly than New York's. I was also surprised that I didn't run into more chinese style bakeries in chinatown. Here in New york, everywhere you look there is pastry shops popping up. I guess I'll have more dim sum shops to try out next time. Any good wonton noodle shops to recommend in San Francisco for my next trip? I tried a noodle shop on Kearny bet. commerical & clay. I forgot the name but the wontons and beef tendons were pretty good.
  9. I'll be in San Francisco this upcoming weekend. Can anyone recommend any good dim sum places in downtown San Francisco? Last time I was in town a few years back I tried Lichee Garden & Golden Dragon restaurant. I liked lichee garden but Golden Dragon was so-so. Any more suggestions? Pat

    China 46

Count me in babyluck. I've lived in that area almost all my life and I've never tried C46. Next Tuesday or Thursday are good nights for me. Pat
  12. I second Congee Village. Yummy Noodle in C town is good too. Try their claypot rice dishes. Dim Sum at Oriental Seafood Palace on Mott St. is excellent , it's across from Harmony Palace.
  13. Yes, it was right across from the Malaysia restaurant. It's probably around 10 years since they moved out. My initial impression was that after the move, the price went up and the quality down. More recently, there have been a number of positive reviews making me think that its worth another try. Wow, I didn't realize they moved to midtown. I thought phoenix garden in C Town just bit the dust. I remember really enjoying the food there when i was younger at c Town prices. I'm curious to revisit the place again. Does anyone know what the main clientele at Phoenix Garden is ? (Business types, asian,Gwe Lo) Just curious to see why they decided to move out of chinatown and attract a different type of clientele. Maybe there's just too much competition in chinatown.
  14. Is this the same Phoenix Garden that used to be in chinatown in the alleyway by the police station on Elizabeth St. ? Same alley that houses some thai restaurant and Yummy Noodle. Sounds like a great place to get cantonese food away from the hustle of chinatown.
  15. Thanks Phaelon for the tip. I actually live about 5 blocks away from the Crows Nest and go shopping at the produce place every once in a while for veggies but never tried there fresh fish. We eat fish on a regular basis so it's great to know another place. We usually shop at the Chinese Market in River Edge off kinderkamack Rd.. Pat
  16. I have tried Gone with the Wings in Nutley several times but I have been dissapointed. The wings are dry and the sauce leaves little to be desired. The blue cheese even tastes a little gluey. The wings at fuddruckers are even better which isn't saying much. The wings at Crows Nest in Hackensack are decent if they cook the wings crispy.
  17. Any of the clay casserole rice dishes at Yummy Noodle on the bowery. Congee with pork and preserved duck egg, beef tendon noodle and wonton soup at Wing Wong on Mott. Pepper and salt squid at Congee Village Any of the Dim Sum at oriental seafood palace on elizabeth st. Pat
  18. I agree , if you want good shanghai noodles, Little Soo Chow on Rt.46 in Saddle brook is good. I love there beef tendon noodle soup and their juicy steamed dumplings (siu loong biu) and the crabmeat version is good too. Another similiar place to try that is good too is " Lotus Cafe" in hackensack. It's close to Riverside Square mall and in the same shopping center as the Brazilian BBQ place and home depot. Pat
  19. So far I like the Pluck U wings for consistency and taste. I tried aiello's and thought it was good but the sauce was a bit thin I thought. I still need to try atomic wings and backpage.
  20. I tried a BBQ joint in Newark the other day callled Brothers on South orange Ave. I wasn't to impressed with their pork ribs but the sauce was decent. The ribs seemed a bit overcooked. The place was a hole in the wall but I was hoping to run into a gem. The menu wasn't extensive but included rib sandwich, short ribs, mac& cheese, greens and Chicken. I'm willing to give it another shot. The place was recommended on Digital City Best of North Jersey. Anyone else tried this place? http://www.digitalcity.com/northjersey/best/ -Pat
