  1. In Westminster: http://www.gypsystearoom.com/
  2. There's a ton of restaurants on each side of Connecticut Ave. from where you are. I haven't been in the area for a while, but I've heard good things about the Zoo Bar across from the entrance to the zoo.
  3. If you take the North exit out of the airport, onto rt. 436 (Semoran Blvd.), there are a lot of choices nearby. There's a Denny's at the first light, but if you drive 2-3 miles you will have lots of choices.
  4. There are menus here: Disney menus Are you looking for a buffet or a sit down meal? Inside the parks or at a hotel or downtown disney. If you're looking for something quick and fairly good, there is a good fish and chips place at Downtown Disney. They have both table service and counter service (with outdoor seating, nice for people watching) and a decent selecton of British beers. it's called Ragland Road. If you are looking for something nicer, try Boma and Jiko. The restaurants at Epcot are overpriced, IMO, although the counter service at Morroco is not too bad. There is also more info here: Disney Dining
  5. Will you have a car? What kind of food?
  6. Where in Orlando will you be staying? Will you have a car? a budget? I just moved to Oviedo (NE of Orlando) and am trying out new places.
  7. You could grind the pepper first into a plate, mix with whatever seasonings you want, then rub the meat on both sides from the stuff on the plate.
  8. We were there in 2000, and had a lovely lunch in one of the open area sit downs.
  9. Luisita Grill in Cloverly. Nice new Mexican/Latin place. We went because of a coupon in the Gazette, and were very pleasantly surprised. The banana strawberry pie was heavenly. Everyone was very happy with their dish (group of 4), and service was very attentive, although there was a bit of a language problem (I speak Spanish, so played translator). I had the fried fish (tilapia, whole), DH had the shrimp skewers (2 with 5 large shrimp each), and our friend had the beef fajitas ("This is STEAK!" he said happily). They were doing some carry-out business, but we were the only dine-ins. We promised to come back and spread the word. Luisita Grill 15535 New Hampshire Ave. Silver Spring 301-879-0723 This is on the back L-bend of a strip mall and a little hard to find, but worth it!
  10. i work at LC and I'm kind of tired of the places around here, but if you don't mind a little walk, on Pennsylvania and 6th, there's a Turkish place with a fairly good lunch buffet. I think it's called Aatish. Also, across from the Eastern Market, there's an inexpensive Mexican/Salvadoran mostly carryout, but with a few tables, Tortilla Cafe. Their quesadillas and flautas (which are fat, like egg rolls) are pretty good.
  11. There's a fairly new Cuban place, Cuba de Ayer, in Burtonsville, MD; but it'll be quite a drive for you. It's on 198, just west of rt. 29, in a perpendicular strip mall. I only went for lunch, but the food was good and it wasn't too expensive.
  12. I'll second Pasta Plus, but it is a bit far from I-95. What kind of food are you looking for?
  13. This may be of some help Washingtonian's Cheap Eats
  14. Me! Five Guys is opening at 13th & F Five Guys I have not eaten there, but they keep getting awards. Let me see if I can think of anything else. I'm kind of jaded on places around Capitol Hill, except for Bulgogy on Mondays ($4.95, includes rice, kimchee and a little salad) from Pete's Diner (2nd st. SE, just south of Independence). What areas will you be visiting?
  15. We had a lovely dinner at La Tasca on 7th Street during Restaurant week. La Tasca
  16. La Tasca (on 7th st) has a set menu lunch, $9.95 for a choice of 3 tapas. We went there for restaurant week (when they had all-you-can-eat) and had a wonderful meal. La Tasca
  17. I used to work at the CCF and would snack on the oatmeal bread dipped into the plum dressing. I once sneaked into the kitchen and looked at the recipe, but did not have a chance to write it down. I would love a copy cat recipe!
  18. Beef rice chocolate
  19. You mean the Old Hickory Grill? They used to be good, but have been going downhill. I don't think I've been there since Isabel left us without electricity and a roach crawled on the table next to us. If there is another BBQ place, please let me know! BTW, has the Cuban place openened where Pepino's used to be?
  20. I love their potstickers! I'm there about everyother Sunday reading the newspaper and eating them. DH loves the scallion pancake. And check another vote for the Amish market, although I'd avoid in on a Saturday, when it's is horribly crowded.
  21. I live in Burtonsville and go there a bit. I love the pizza and the bread (in fact, we always break Passover there). The pastas are just okay, the main dishes are usually very good, but over our budget for a regular night out. The house wine comes in ceramic carafes, you get a bottle of water with lemon, freshly grated parmesan, and olive oil. Very few tables, though. Mondays are half price pizza nights. The white pizza comes already cut, in irregular sized pieces.

    Passover 2005 wines

It's written by Alan Richman an he recommends: Golan 2003 Moscato (Galilee) ($10) Carmel Winery 2002 Ben Zimra Cab. Sauv., Upper Galilee ($28) Kiddush Hashem Cellars 2002 Syrah (Calif.) ($30) and more expensive: Capcanes Peraj Ha'abib 2000 Flor de Primavera (Spain)($50) Segals 2002 unfiltered Cab. Sauv., (Galil) ($60) He also says that the Schapiro's naturally sweet American concord ($4) is 'noticeably drier and fruitier' than the usual sweet ones. I remember finding some very nice Kosher Malbecs in Chile. I haven't seen them imported, though.

    Passover 2005 wines

The last issue of Bon Appetit had an article on 'real' wines that are kosher (not the sweet stuff). It's at home, though, I can look it up tonight if nobody else answers.
  24. Dairy dinner tonight, for a change. Pasta shells in olive oil, garlic, anchovies & broccoli sauce. Garlic Bread.
  25. I got some of this at the Green Dragon market in Ephrata (PA). We go 2-3 times a year and I load up then.
