  1. I don't know MacDoherty but Bilboquet is still going strong even though the owners changed. (1311 Bernard) But if you want the very best in ice cream and sorbet, you must try Le Havre-Aux-Glaces. They're a new addition to the Jean-Talon market. Their Masala chai sorbet is my favorite. The staff and owners are also very nice and useful.
  2. I think it is quite sad to see so many people have been recently disappointed with what used to be one of the great montreal restaurants. On the other side, though, I'd like to know if any of you have passed your comments directly to the staff or, even better to Mr. Picard. It might be nice for them to be aware of your dissapointment before reading such a thread on a public space. What do you think? Patrice
  3. The fruit sorbets are amazing! They're my saturday breakfast. The lemon and the "clementine" ones are especially good. They tried a Macha ice cream and a masala sorbet which I appreciated a lot too.

    Blue marlin

I bought it in Montreal (NDG neighbourhood to be more precise).
  5. Hi! I just bought some blue marlin and I'm wondering if it's safe to cook it the tuna way (almost raw, just seared) or if it needs to be close to well done. Thanks for your help!
  6. How much can I expect to pay for dinner at Firefly? Thanks!
  7. Hi! I will be in DC for 5 days in about a week and a half. I'm looking for great places to eat on a budget (5-15$) and maybe one upscale restaurant. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  8. If you like it, you might want to try the Equinoxe du printemps at Dieu du Ciel (a Montreal brewpub). It's an amazing maple scotch ale available only when spring comes around. If you're coming from out of town, you'd better check the menu on www.dieuduciel.com to make sure it's available.
  9. My new favorite is Amedei Chuao. For those from Montreal, you have to try the truffles Geneviève Granbois (there's a kiosk at the Atwater market) makes with this chocolate (the Montecristo is especially good.) And while you're there, pick up a bar of Chuao. Yummy!!!!
