Greater Phoenix Dining: Where To Eat?

This is a great start! Thank you all for the input. Last October it was Seattle and Union, Salumi and Le Pichet. I am getting prematurely anxious. Raoul -
Greater Phoenix Dining: Where To Eat?
Raoul Duke replied to a topic in Southwest & Western States: Dining
This is my pre-emptive strike to line up dining spots for a meeting (5 days) I'll be attending at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass in October. Any recommendations would be appreciated, dining guests welcome and since I'm traveling from Paso Robles I might bring some of the local vintages for consumption. Love to eat so I'm open to all categories. Your guidance is sincerely appreciated. Raoul -
My SO and I may have an interest in this and we are located in the Paso area, as well. Let me know what you have in mind, ie; frequency, number of participants, expectations, locations, etc... Look forward to a reply. Raoul

The lable says "Vodka Marinara". The ingredients list: tomato puree, cream cheese, vodka, salt, sugar, garlic, onions, citric acid, basil, parsley, oregano and black pepper. ← How bad can it be, Vodka is the 3rd ingredient by volume.

Why doesn't Marv stick to reviewing cigars. Raoul

So then, if Zin's are Jimi exactly what are Syrah's? Raoul

I have an advantage, I produce EVOO from 400 Lucca and 800 Arbequina trees and freely use my oil for cooking, everything. I can attest to the fact that it does render flavor to the foods it is combined with, to a limit. Eggs, most fish, vegetables all gain from the oils with a strong peppery finish, milder fish does well with the lesser pungent oils. Your use is dependent on economics and/or availability.

How did you poach the salmon, ie temperature, oil depth, time, etc.. Try using up the oil to cook some seafood fettuccini, crab cakes or shrimp scampi.

If you read all the literature on disease processes, you'll realize that living causes cancer. Certainly some habits accelerate the process, but understanding that anything in moderation is OK. I'd be looking closer at the family gene pool than articles that tend to scare us. But if you believe those articles I'll take your excess wine, cigars, BBQ steak and that whiskey over there, pack up them eggs, and jes' that pork isn't very good either.

Please don't attempt to speak for men. I have on any number of occasions questioned the relativity of my age and it's impact on my choices, for myself, and my family. I promise I won't speak for women, but would offer up the male perspective. Raoul "I may be old, but I ain't dead"

I must admit this conversation is titillating. Raoul "I may be old, but I ain't dead".

A Tip! You left a tip? The waiter is in the back 2 minutes after you leave counting his sucker money. Well respected tips for well respecting staff.

In '98 on a visit to North Vietnam we had some home brewed shine with a dried lizard floating in it. The locals thought of it as a cure all. Wasn't as bad tasting as it looked or sounds, actually did two shots and bottle of Hanoi beer chaser. Still ended up with dysentry for 11 days. Raoul

I happened to be in Seattle in October for a meeting and sampled a taste of the King Estate Pinot Gris. Double wow's there! Looking forward to the ups and downs, ins and outs of your current venture.

A bowl of peel and eat shrimp, in season, works for me. Off season galic and/or chile shrimp are good too. Here's to your success. Raoul

C'mon now. You've seen the individuals who advocate these lists. Anorexic, pale and drinking non-alcoholic cider at the "fun" holiday party. And don't get them started talking about what wonders fiber has done for them.

Placing the value of grapes, any grapes, over that of the wildlife that provides checks and balances in nature is a sad indictment of our society to make a buck. We have welcomed the occasional fox, mountain lions, coyotes passing through and even the stinky "kitty" with white stripes as I'm sure a number of environmentally conscious farmers do. There are sound, non violent methods of discouraging intrusive wildlife behavior. Where does it end? Raoul

Supply side economics. They teach this at Wharton not Columbia.

Been a few years but Japantown had a nice little sushi bar with sushi boats that floated by, for you to choose.

Actually they're going to brick up the east/west access route.

Costco here, San Luis Obispo, CA has veal for scaloppine, no other cuts. I believe they look at the market place residents for direction on what to stock. I have never seen veal at the Santa Maria, CA Costco, plus the SLO wine selection is much larger. Raoul

I'd like to get a deep fryer again, 20 year hiatus since my last, but this time I want to be more selective. Any help in answering these questions would be appreciated. I don't deep fry that often, but when I get the urge I want to do it NOW and minimize cleanup or dealing with the oil. Is there a better size 4 quart vs 6 qt. etc..? What can be done with the oil for storage? Is the oil filtered by the unit or is there some way to do this prior to storage? Just how long are oils good for, if stored under optimal conditions? I noticed that your (Marlene) unit is 1500 watts vs. 1800. Is it adjustable? Comments are appreciated. Raoul
