  1. Check out the delicious organic prosciutto, pancetta, culaccia and speck made by Herb and Kathy Eckhouse in Iowa at La Quercia
  2. Thanks, Mark! Our tentative (and incomplete) list: Bissaleh Cafe Timo Hanna's Gourmet Diner Hiro's Yakko San Michy's We'll check back soon for comments and additions. We do have a place to stay, but suggestions are always welcome.
  3. We'd be very grateful for restaurant suggestions in the North Miami Beach/Sunny Isles Beach neighborhoods. This five-day trip -- beginning 1/17 -- came as a surprise, and I couldn't find suggestions already posted here. We like good food of any kind and almost any price. Many thanks! Tom

    Guelaguetza

We've not found Oaxacan food here in Philadelphia, so we're excited to be coming to LA next week, staying near family in Marina del Rey. Guelaguetza has been highly recommended, but I don't know which one is better (and, ideally, closer to where we're staying.) Would you suggest the Olympic Blvd location, the W. 8th Street location or the Huntington Park location? Or even a Palms Blvd location that appears online, but not on the website Restaurante Guelaguetza Do you recommend making reservations? Or is there an equally good Oaxacan or other Mexican restaurant near Marina del Rey? Thanks!
  5. Try Downtown Cheese in the RTM. Jack often has items also available at Zingerman's
  6. I see that the Chapoutier Ermitage is available at the Wayne store, but the last time I was there the place was overheated and the sun shining brightly on otherwise attractive wines. Is there any assurance that the wines -- especially the expensive ones -- haven't been (or aren't being) roasted?
  7. Sonny D'Angelo in Philadelphia makes cotechino for New Year's, but I don't know if he ships it. Try D'Angelo Bros
  8. I miss Holly's . . . especially the chili (but I keep hoping for the recipe).
