  1. scientists speak! http://www.rsc.org/AboutUs/News/PressRelea...ctYorkshire.asp
  2. 2 sainsburys and a waitrose I've been to in the last week have had franks hot sauce. Look near the worcestershire sauce and ketchups.
  3. re flat white. Think google maps mixed up Broadwick and Berwick Streets. Fair Grounds is not good. Flat White is very good, and the opposite of everything you had in Fair Grounds. Happy kiwis who will talk cofee, or anything, for as long as you want. if you try again, keep walking past Fair Grounds on your left until you reach the Blue Posts Pub on Berwick St (100 meters'ish). Turn right, you're there.
  4. just to warn that it could be the start of a run of poor meals. Bodeans has not been up to the original standards for at least 18 months. The Soho branch is 2 minutes walk from my office. After falling in love with the meaty goodness on opening day, and eating there with a group from work a few times a month, every month, we very rarely visit. As a group, we probably give them "one last try" every 3 or 4 months. It never comes close to the original. The burnt ends are never as unctuous, the ribs never as tender, and the portions never as large.
  5. I was sat on the table next to him. He also had 2 starters...most impressive. My girlfriend usually moans at me for ordering an extra cheese course. I can now use the "but that bloke in wild honey had 2 starters and 2 mains, I'm not that bad"
  6. she owns the crown and Castle in Orford, Suffolk. Very nice hotel and restaurant, a regular retreat when i need to get out of London for a few days. there are a fair few posts about the hotel on this site.
  7. don't let it get you down bakerestates. I've eaten at his place and yours recently. Your pub is the place I'm looking forward to returning.
  8. ah, Naebody, I was sat next to you, well the other side of the 2 guys who dashed off. I too was impressed by your impression of a Portugese bottle of wine. Think I almost took out The Masch in my dash out of the restaurant in time to catch the 2nd half of the football. The food was very good. Like everybody else, I ordered the rabbit. My other half ordered the lamb, had a taste of my rabbit, declared the pie component the best thing she has ever eaten. She then made puppy eyes at me for the rest of the meal so that she could steal as much as possible. Only comment would be that the cabbage was very salty. Nothing much to add on the rest of the meal that hasn't already been said. Had the mango, enjoyed it. They've dropped the chocolate from the rice now, or at least they had with mine. The tables are very close together. I'm not the smallest, but not that big. Manouvering my way out of my seat to visit the toilet I nearly tipped over my table, and the one nextdoor. They aren't the most stable, and there isn;t a lot of room between them.
  9. you also have Khaoi in Crouch End. Think it is something do do with the school in Dalston. Authentic vietnamese, great Pho, a Vietnamese friend rates it. Also regularly see them making the summer rolls etc. from scratch in the kitchen, not frozen, pre-assembled elsewhere.
  10. It's true. I was in there last week for an early dinner (7 ish) and quite a few people came in, ordered drinks only, and were told they couldn't drink without ordering a substantial meal. They all left.
  11. just returned from long weekend away so; The Fox Inn Corscombe (thank you Bapi for the rec.) Which was good, but not as good as... Percys in Virginstow Percys again (and if you cannot count it twice)... Angel Mangal Upper St
  12. thank you very much for your help. I thinkI may have eaten in the Odyssey cafe last time I visited. I do remember very good chicken. I need to speak to the family to get things organised, I will be in touch. thank you again, Lee
  13. Hi Mary, this is a timely post. My parents live near Paso Robles (in Hanford, very hot, so more raisin country). I live in the UK, and am planning a visit in the next few weeks. I have a cousin that lives in Paso Robles, and remembered driving through some glorious vineyards on previous visits. So, I had been looking for a vineyard that I could visit for a pleasant day out with family. Wine tasting and good food (if possible to combine the 2) are what I'm looking for. We are all very amatuerish, but very keen wine consumers. Could you reccommend a suitable winery. Oh, and no need to be shy if you think yours would be ideal, it sounds as though it could be perfect. thank you, Lee
  14. Its an Australian thing, called a Tim-Tam slam, using inferior Australian Penguins. Lived there for 2 years and was constantly disgusted. It turns a perfectly decent biscuit dunking oppurtunity into the equivalent of sucking hot mud through a straw.
  15. Yes, it is on Swallow St. The Destino in Putney is a tapas bar I think. Just grabbed a taco for lunch, with a Guacamole side. BBQ pork with coleslaw taco. Not bad, but seemed expensive for what it was. Not as good as a takeaway Soho Sandwich from Bodeans which is same distance from my office, and same price. Had a quick stroll round, restaurant looked tempting so may head back for a proper lunch.
