  1. I'm in!!! Elyse, are you going to bring a burger pie?
  2. OK, apparently ofoto doesn't want to cooperate and show the images. Suggestions, anyone? Maybe I can email the pics to someone who knows how to get them to show up? PM me. Thanks.
  3. The burger was OK. I ordered mine medium-rare and it arrived medium-well, but was still yummy. The fries were spectacular! The pickles were sliced! But the best part was definitely the company. EDIT: OK, I can't get the pics to work. I'll email them to someone more capable.
  4. What great timing! I was in our company 'library' and picked up a copy of the October 6, 2003 edition of People magazine. On page 144, there is a story about J. Seward Johnson and his life-sized sculpture of this very painting in Hamilton, NJ. See it here.
  5. See, I told you, William. The carpet does match the curtains. Now gimme a grape.
  6. I'll be in London on March 16 (and perhaps the 15th as well). So if there's a burger club meeting then, we could do the exchange student program both ways!
  7. Here's the info for tomorrow. I'm bringing my camera. Still gotta find a suitable hat for elyse.
  8. OK, raise your hand if you're heading to a store within the next 12 hours to buy some Pringles so you can light them on fire. *raises hand*
  9. Oh my! I had no idea such a thing even existed. For $120 though, I think I'm better off running around the city to get my own artisan bacon once a month for a year.
  10. Ever since I introduced them to it, my coworkers have been anxious for another trip to Chipotle, so we made the 12 block hike -- what a great excuse to go out and enjoy the lovely weather. I had the carnitas burrito with black beans, cheese, tomatillo-red chili and roasted chili-corn salsas. It was yummy. Brought it all back to the office and dined in one of the meeting rooms. I'm about ready to hit the Coke machine for a quick sugar fix. Speaking of corporate cafeterias, I used to work at the Marriott HQ in Bethesda, MD and they had an enormous cafeteria which was always open for breakfast and lunch. Nearly every employee ate there. Surprisingly, the food wasn't that good (you'd think one of the world's largest food service companies would get it right, but no...) and they charged an arm and a leg for the food (easy to blindly spend the money though, as you just swiped your ID card and the money was deducted from your paycheck). Sadly, there weren't many other options nearby unless you felt like getting in a car and driving to some chain-type place or walking over to the food court at the mall down the road.
  11. We can order those as a side dish. Along with a plateful of bacon. Perhaps we should have an off-shoot of Burger Club...Bacon Club! And maybe we could have a Fry Auxiliary to the Burger Club.
  12. To a certain extent, yes. I mean, they fit together nicely so one can easily cram 9 of them in the mouth at one time, without creating any crumbage. Can you do that with any regular chip? And, just for the record, I like the Pringles cans. Modern packaging all looks the same to me. Makes me want to yawn. I like the distinctive plain-ness of the Pringles can. And it brings back memories of making crafts in grade school. Anyone else ever cover a Pringles can with wallpaper scraps and call it a pencil holder??
  13. There is a rice pudding place in Manhattan Rice to Riches. It's quite popular. Oh, and the Soy Luck Club.
  14. Yeah. Burgers or nothing!
  15. OK, now that just sounds dirty.
  16. Yes! I'm annoyed with pickle spears too (in place of sliced pickles). And it seems as though most pickle spears served are a sad version of sour pickles. Not even close to anything worth eating. Gimme a garlicky dill spear and I'd bee happy. Gimme garlicky dill slices and I'll be really happy!
  17. I'd like to withdraw my earlier recommendation for Jackson Hole. Went to the one which I thought was better than the others on Friday and was sorely disappointed. The burger was way too greasy (my bottom bun was soaked through) and completely lacking in flavor. The bun was borderline stale, and even if it were fresh, it still would've been less than appealing.
  18. I'm in. I'll leave Brooklyn by 9 AM just in case the subways are shut down that day. I'll bring the camera and maybe a fine hat for Elyse to wear.
  19. Where do you stand on sweetie and hon? Unless I'm in a diner in the south, where it's part of the whole feel of the place, I loathe being called sweetie, hon, sugar, darlin', or whatever the endearing term du jour happens to be. I had a former coworker constantly refer to me as honey in semi-social situations (client dinners, company happy hours, etc.) One day I decided to refer to him as gramps. He got the idea. I should do the same with servers. Gramps, kiddo, old hag, whatever term fits the bill. Edit: typos, lots of 'em.
  20. Can't it also be made with an "i" ? iYes! Indeed it could be! I was just being technical. I love my key-stroked symbols.
  21. ¡Yes! And the upside-down exclamation point is made by hitting alt+0161

and why is that descriptor different than a million others that restaurants use? It's not, really. I just find it odd when restaurants try to describe the overall 'taste' of their food. Delicious. Yummy. Appetizing. Flavorsome. Palatable. As if they somehow feel the need to differentiate themselves from those restaurants that might be inclined to describe their food as sickening, nauseating, repulsive or tasteless.
  23. Yeah! I love those emoticons too, but it's such a pain to go to the site, find the emoticon, copy the info and paste it into here.
  24. Shouldn't this be obvious? Are there people out there who actually enjoy being asked every 5 minutes if everything is "OK"? A good server will stop by shortly after delivering the food (allowing customer enough time to taste everything), and ask if everything is to his liking and if he needs anything. Then the server should simply remain visible to the customer (stopping by periodically if drinks are empty to refill them without interrupting), so if the customer needs anything, he can easily find and alert the server.
  25. I doubt anyone with little interest in politics would be inclined to even watch K Street. I'm not in the political biz, but I'm a fairly informed citizen and haven't had any problems knowing who is who on that show. OK, Back on topic...
