  1. Please accept this sincere apology.I am guilty of at least two of the most controversial infractions mentioned thus far. 1: I have used the "horrifyingly unbecoming " term sammitch . 2: I have also used ellipses . Now,I suspect I have overindulged in my use of smilies . Sadly, I cannot even claim the excuse of english as my second language.Sorry everyone.
  2. The pumpkin ravioli sounds good,or butternut squash. To address the protein...maybe add some walnuts to the filling and sauce.A browned butter, walnuts, sage kind of sauce.Ooo,now I'm getting an inspiration for what to serve my own veg daughter!

    Grilled Cheese

Jarlsburg Cheese Shiloh Farms SPROUTED FIVE GRAIN BREAD Sliced Tomato (or the ketchup if no good tomatoes are available) Cooked in a well seasoned cast iron pan...both sides spread *lightly* with unsalted butter. Tomato soup on the side...1/ 2 sour or garlic dill pickles too. {SHILOH FARMS SPROUTED FIVE GRAIN BREAD } A very tasty bread - perfect for toasting. Ingredients: whole sprouted wheat, barley, rye, oats, brown rice, pure water, stone ground whole wheat flour, vital wheat gluten, molasses, yeast, sea salt and malt. *note: I don't work @ or have stock in Shiloh Farms...I just like their bread.*
  4. None of my friends or family understand my addiction to cookbooks...so I don't have to worry about lending them out, or saying no . I told my sister that I just ordered 8 cookbooks from my cookbook club...she said "8 cookbooks! That's more than I have total !"
  5. WOW! Those sammitches look delicious. Another kitchen item I never knew I needed, but now I simply must have.
  6. I 've been using a Presto 6 qt. cooker for the past 10 or so years. While it certainly isn't upscale...it has been dependable.I've never had an explosion.I only recently had to replace the gasket and pressure lock gizmo. Most often I use it for cooking dried beans...makes them almost "fast food". Corn on the cob only takes 2-3 minutes in a PC and I make a great tasting chicken w/veggie gravy in 10 minutes.I'd like to read of other peoples experiences pro or con too.
  7. Last week I used the excess oatmeal from a too zealous batch of overnight oatmeal made in a crock pot to make deliciously fragrant, nutty, slightly sweet bread(well 2 loaves actually). While wonderful on it's own...my husband decided that freshly ground into bread crumbs,it would make a nice/different addition to the meatloaf he was concocting.Skeptical at first...it really was good and savory. In fact...I am making more of the same bread right now so that we can use some this weekend...possibly in some other dish.
