  1. I am responsible for providing the cake at my future sister-in-law's bridal shower and of course I want to make it myself. I've never really made a layer cake with a different filling than what was used as the icing, so am in the search for some recipes. The shower is in late March. The bride-to-be is not a chocolate fanatic and I just don't feel like doing lemon curd. So ideas I am looking for are fillings with berries perhaps, marscapone, etc. Normally I might wing it, but I don't want 35 crazy women getting upset! All recipes are welcome! Thanks in advance!
  2. I'm with you JennyUptown, the take-out scene around MetroCenter stinks. You should try Port of Piraeus. Teaism on 8th & D isn't too far in good weather. Or Red Sage carryout - the chili or tortilla soup is a change of pace sometimes. You'd think with all the law firms around here we'd have a better selection!
  3. I went last night and all I can say is "thank GOD we finally have a very good restaurant on 17th Street!" We went with a couple who live two doors down and we were all quite excited. They do have a few improvements to make but all in all, a great place. The staff was excellent and very enthusiastic about the menu. And the cheese course!! Hurrah!
  4. I am so glad to hear this. 17th street is pathetic! Although I do love Skewers and Cafe Luna for no-fuss cheap breakfast and lunch in addition to Sushi Taro. Does one need a reservation for Komi at this point? actually, having a great restaurant across the street could also be a bad thing! (ok hold on, i mean for the wallet and waistline)
