    Breakfast 2024

I call this Dutch breakfast not sure why. I think I once had something like it when visiting Holland ages ago. Anyway it’s just a fried egg on toast and a slice of cheddar cheese on the other half.

    Dinner 2024

Really good looking food posted above… lots of “I must try to cook that” Dinner for us was porterhouse steak and chips / fries, mushroom sauce. The chips / fries are bought frozen, cooked in the oven, we quite like them this way, too many of course.

    Lunch 2024

Doctored up some ratatouille to make it more like caponata, meaning I added olives and a little red wine vinegar (didn’t have any capers) Some recipes say to add raisins to caponata for a touch of sweetness but I have never done this. Added a sprinkle of dried chillies and a jammy egg. And that was lunch

    Dinner 2024

Plenty of summer vegetables either growing or at the shops so I made ratatouille. Hubby cooked a pork chop on the BBQ and we also had mashed potato and broccolini as sides.

    Lunch 2024

Had husband’s daughter over for Sunday lunch. I used the side burner on our new BBQ and burnt the fish cakes. Still we ate them with an Asian salad. I used mashed potato and tinned crab for the fish cakes, added lemon grass, coriander and fish sauce.

    Breakfast 2024

Hi smithy, Yes I’ve got tomatoes growing in the garden and lots of basil that lasts till the first cold weather of winter. Many other herbs as well. I like to go out into our small garden and pick herbs to add into the meal or as a garnish.

    Breakfast 2024

Because it’s summer down here we have tomatoes and basil growing. So breakfast was egg, tomato and a couple of little slices of Speck as opposed to bacon.

    Dinner 2024

Dinner was beef stir fry with snow peas and silver beet from the garden. Served with rice noodles. I made this Thai style with lemon grass and a little coconut milk.

    Dinner 2024

Hi everyone… new to this forum and just finding my way around. I very much admire the ambience with which people treat each other, gained from long time posting here I understand. I usually cook dinner for my husband and I from scratch although sometimes I will add a shopped short cut and sometimes we get take out. Tonight’s dinner was a simple spaghetti bolognaise with fresh grated Parmesan.

    Breakfast 2024

This morning I added chilli to left over spaghetti sauce plus an egg to make shashouka So here I go again attempting to put on a photo. Seems to be OK.
  11. Thanks for the welcome Darienne, TropicalSenior, ElsieD, TdeV, AAQuesada and Smithy. LOL AAQuesada…I was thinking more about the “and he gave me a Vegemite sandwich” line in that song, but all good. Smithy, I will have questions about posting photos and thanks for mentioning that I can ask you about this. You may have noticed I messed up my 1st posting of photos on the breakfast topic… still baffled how that happened, but I guess I’ll get better at it. I do like to take photos of food almost as much as eating and cooking (wink). I’m from Melbourne and live there currently, although I have lived in other places in Europe and have travelled in Asia and been to USA quite a few times. It’s just hubby and I living at home. He’s from the UK so you may notice English food like a Sunday roast popping up quite regularly. I have 3 sons, two of which live in other cities of Australia… Perth and Sydney. The third lives around the corner from us. I also have 2 gorgeous grandsons 4 & 2 and a 3rd due any week. Thanks for letting me join in here and I hope I can soon become one of the regulars and I do take my hat off to the members who have been here for a long time and who have formed bonds of friendship.

    Breakfast 2024

New here and love a good breakfast. I quite often make these, what I call an Asian omelette.
