Referring to the talk about liver, I like lambs liver and bacon but don’t eat chicken livers except in pate… they look so little!!! Love that you include some citrus with your breakfasts. @blue_dolphin not just juice I mean. Bubble and squeak for breakfast, has potato, Brussel sprouts, onion, tomatoes and little pork bits and egg.

Hot again and didn’t feel like cooking so a light dinner of smoked salmon and salad… those are little pieces of preserved lemon which I like but husband does not For dessert we had figs and slices of a mild Gorgonzola

Bought crumbed chicken schnitzel, I sometimes crumb them myself but not today. Salad included fennel.

It’s Pancake Tuesday here already. Some call it Shrove Tuesday, anyway pancakes for breakfast with home made quince jam and some yoghurt.

Still have avocado on toast for breakfast sometimes. This time with fried egg and sprinkled with Laoganma chilli crisp.

That hazelnut cake with chocolate sauce looks delicious Olyveoly We had Salmon with broccolini and orzo cooked with garlic butter and parsley. Little bits of home preserved lemon.

There’s a certain comfort in having similar breakfasts according to the season. Same Same but different. Grilled cheese over tomatoes on toast.

I had this Chicken Marbella marinating over night in the fridge. I missed the invention of this dish in the 70’s and only heard about it from some US friends about 12 years ago. Served with plain sweet potato.

Absolutely, we like lamb and we also like the other proteins. I like lamb probably more towards medium than the rare that is popular these days. Certainly not well done, it has to have a little pink to it… We call these cutlets and they are really just a mouthful or two. These were particularly tender and we enjoyed them.

Very ordinary but iconic Australian dinner… lamb cutlets, peas and mashed potatoes. Comfort food for ( older) Aussies.

Tagliatellini (that’s what the packet says although looks like fettuccini to me) and 3 large meatballs, sauce and a few fresh tomatoes. Oregano sprig. Small side salad. I made the sauce from a jar of passata, which is unusual for me as I usually use a tin of crushed tomatoes to make my own. This sauce was too thick and I was going to thin it with some pasta water except my husband drained the pasta so no water was left. Hah! Love a helping hand in the kitchen, seriously, I do.

A very hot day so dinner was salad with a dressing of lime juice, fish sauce, a little sugar, a little peanut oil and a little water. A very quickly BBQ grilled half chicken breast. Plenty of coriander, Vietnamese mint and vermicelli rice noodles in the salad.

Oh sorry for the confusion, I wrote ‘shrimp’ when I meant to say ‘squid’. I’ve edited to say ‘squid’ now. I was actually expecting the round calamari shape but strips is the way they sell them.

So many delicious dishes… what wonderful food is being cooked and eaten. Our dinner was home breaded ‘squid’ strips bought very fresh from the fisherman source, so very tender. These were on top of zucchini, onion, fennel and garlic with a little wheat pasta ‘Gnocchietti’ imported from Italy. This dessert was from the previous night’s dinner and which got me into trouble trying to add the photo via an edit in a previous post. Anyway, berries have been great this year and good prices. This is the serving bowl not just my bowl, although I am tempted to eat the lot.

Dinner tonight was marinated chicken fillet strips, stir fried eggplant and beans plus a few tomatoes all served over fine rice noodles. A sauce was missing but I didn’t know what kind. Perhaps should have been a simple soy with chicken stock and thickened slightly with cornflour/ cornstarch

Thanks pastameshugana, while there are home grown tomatoes yes they cause me to eat them everyday… on bread!!!

Such delicious breakfasts blue_dolphin. Fresh tomatoes with grilled cheese on top. Possibly my all time fav breakfast. I don’t mind the burnt bits.

I didn’t know whether to post here or in the Pizza thread but decided here. This was a few weeks ago. We have a small country holiday home and don’t leave the freezer stocked with food because we often get electricity blackouts due to branches falling on the lines. We arrived at country home in the evening and I fancied Pizza…We had brought cheese with us so made a quick one rise dough added sauce, capers and canned sardines provided the protein. Go on have a laugh…. Jumped the ( pizza ) shark perhaps.
-
It was a holiday today so I made burgers and our ubiquitous oven fries. The packet of fries is finished now so we won’t revisit them for a while.

I call this Dutch breakfast not sure why. I think I once had something like it when visiting Holland ages ago. Anyway it’s just a fried egg on toast and a slice of cheddar cheese on the other half.
