  1. @Shelby You're making it more difficult for me to pick my favorite however I'll go with the goose. That skin looks nice and crispy.
  2. Soft scrambled eggs with red Thai chilis, green onion, cilantro and Thai basil. Half of a toasted naan, cherry tomatoes and a mix of blood orange and blackberries.
  3. I still do although I can't get a lot of the ingredients here. His duck hearts on toast I do with chicken hearts which are readily available. Roast bone marrow and parsley (or even better with bitter greens) salad. I'd love to be able to get pig tails for his crispy pig tail recipe. All I can think of off the top of my head.
  4. Egg, tomato, green onion and cheddar on a toasted WW English muffin with a small bowl of yellow split pea soup and a tangerine.
  5. Beef, mushroom and stout stew with herbed dumplings (or dough boys for those who know what that means) and tomatoes. With a St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.
  6. Soft scrambled eggs with red Thai chilis, Thai basil, cilantro and green onions with a small sole fillet sauteed in butter with green onions. Toasted baguette with orange marmalade, orange and cherries, V8 and coffee. Will keep me going until I get home sometime this afternoon.
  7. @Maison Rustique I like the idea of roasting alongside the meatloaf. @Dejah When I moved to Toronto in 1980 as a graduate student one of my go to places to buy meat was the now gone European Meats in Kensington Market. They were almost giving away, compared to more popular cuts, oxtails, beef shanks, flank steaks and others which now just elicit a WTF response.
  8. Plattsburgh NY? If so when our family lived in Montreal that was our 'southern vacation' (although in retrospect they most likely went there to shop) 😇
  9. Easy quick breakfast of basted/steamed eggs with cherry tomatoes, arugula, green onions a few dashes of green Cholula and a liberal grinding of black pepper. Toasted baguette, oranges and coffee to accompany.
  10. The McBEACH (although it's unlikely you'll find one at your local Mickey D's): Blood sausage, Egg, Arugula, Cheddar and Habanero sauce on a toasted WW english muffin. V8, coffee and oranges and cherries on the side.
  11. Sliced poached chicken breast, aged cheddar, arugula and Habanero sauce on a toasted baguette with herbed oven fries. Enjoyed with a Keith's Coffee and Cacao Stout which is a keeper (up to par with local craft brewers).
  12. @Shelby Everything looks good however my vote goes to that cornbread. Green chili and cheese 😋
  13. Yesterday's breakfast: shakshuka with toasted baguette. Today's: a large bowl of homemade chicken noodle vegetable soup finished with green onion tops.
  14. Roasted dry rub chicken legs eventually served with mushroom cous cous and a green salad (which I neglected to get a photo of). I also made chicken noodle and vegetable soup with the breast meat. All trim to the freezer and a small ramekin of chicken fat and fond to roast some potatoes tomorrow.
  15. Appears they're taking unedited writing submissions from drunk or stoned university students. I'd pass.
  16. Looks great. I've made pork, rabbit or duck rillettes in the past and I'm certain I'd enjoy goose. Envious 😇
  17. @Steve Irby There is a sausage making topic and I, for one, would be interested in what you're making.
  18. Egg scrambled with chorizo, shrimp, green onion and green Thai chilis with aged cheddar and mixed lettuces on a toasted WW bagel. The trick with a sandwich like this is not to let any component dominate. The sandwich was delicious albeit messy to eat. Navel and blood oranges and V8 and coffee on the side.
  19. I never tried SPAM until about twenty years ago on the Big Island Hawaii. Never really noticed it in grocery stores at home. Spam musubi and fried as part of a plate lunch. Interesting to try but not a fan.
  20. Egg, chorizo, aged cheddar, tomato and lettuces with a touch of sriracha on a toasted WW bagel. Enjoyed with a mix of navel and blood oranges, V8 and coffee. We're in for some 'interesting' weather today so reading and garden planning on the agenda.
  21. Out of my first aid kit.
  22. @gulfporter Not about the food but is the background an inlaid tiled counter? If so nice.
  23. Made spanakopita (using a mix of chard, spinach, beet, bok choy, radish and mustard greens from the freezer) along with a shrimp salad and lettuce on a toasted croissant. Enjoyed with a Keith's IPA while watching 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure'. A movie I haven't seen in over thirty years. So silly it's fun to watch. With the late and great George Carlin and Keanu Reeves long before he became John Wick. FYI: butter for the spanakopita was melted on the stovetop.
  24. I couldn't help laughing at this because it brings to mind an incident. Christmas Day 2019: I went over to my brother's house early for that evening's turkey dinner. He was cooking the turkey in a counter top rotisserie oven. It was just the two of us as his wife was out and the rest of the family was scheduled to arrive later. We were watching some Jim Gaffigan and Sebastian Maniscalco stand up when there was this BANG from the kitchen. We looked at each other with a 'what was that' expression and we went to investigate. The look on my brother's face when he opened the oven door was priceless. He had stuffed and trussed the turkey to roast and had trussed it so tightly that the steam from the cavity couldn't escape and finally blew out through both ends of the bird and covered the interior of the oven with stuffing. The bird went in the regular oven to finish but was pretty sad looking. My niece had the best reaction when she arrived 'Dad! What happened to the turkey?'. As you can imagine my brother has never lived this down and the story is retold and retold.
  25. First seed purchase of the season. The new thing to attempt this year is the red shiso so we'll see how it goes. I was happy to get chervil seeds as it's easy to grow, which I plan to continue indoors, and unavailable locally. The Roma bush beans I've grown in the past and will be happy to do so this season. It's unlikely I'll be buying any more seeds, excepting the freebies from the library, as I saved a lot of seed from last season including tomato, bean, snow and sugar snap pea, purslane and various herbs. None of my lettuces bolted, due to the wet and cool summer, so I had to order seeds for those. The indoor herb garden is keeping up with consumption however my tomato plant, which was a 60 day determinate, is on it's decline and I'll trash it once the three tomatoes on it ripen. It was a bit of fun to see how it turned out.
