  1. As if some shyster lawyer hasn't had the exact same "epiphany"!! It all falls under the heading of " but Mommy made me eat this!" ... we are all "victims", whether it be of a culinary appetite or narcissistic appetite or nicotine or sexual appetite ... we lack resolve and self control ... and the legal predators out there are more than pleased to make "use" of this concept ... kind of an "aha!" moment!! so if there is cash to be gained by suing our supposed "tormentors", you better be damned sure that you have a significantly "appealing" case!! "Make that one Big Mac and supersize my retainer, ya hear??" drive around please ....
  2. Urban myth, I honestly believe ...
  3. Might this be the one to which you are referring? The Rock Creek Testicle Festival. Clinton Montana. Me and I5,000 bikers .......
  4. That is what I discovered upon Googling it ... and was shocked to find it entirely legit ... thought it was a Bourdainesque conception (poor choice of vocab .. apologies all around!)
  5. As with some of the "male persuasion", harder is often better ... and lasts longer .... Seriously, there are entire schools of thought on the firmness of the matzo ball, with a schism between just how to accomplish this miracle ....
  6. and then on to the Cherry Festival? Or have I gotten the order backward here?? and might you be more specific about which is better? Bottlescrew Bill's Testicle Festival - Calgary, Alberta, Canada Byron, Ill. Annual Turkey Testicle Festival Fromberg Festival of Testicles (near Billings) Mission Mountain Testicle Festival: First Saturday in June at Branding Iron in Charlo (50 miles from Missoula). Nut and Gut Feed, 90 miles from Havre Rock Creek Lodge Testicle Festival, just east of Missoula, Montana Ryegate Testicle Festival. Second Saturday in June in Ryegate (60 miles from Billings). Vinita, Oklahoma Calf Fry Festival - first Saturday after Labor Day, featuring "prairie oysters" and fries. York Bar's Go Nuts Testicle Festival. Third Friday in May. In York, about 20 miles from Helena. Or which one would one go nuts over? Is one Testicle Festival better than the rest?
  7. Sounds as if he has made a complete recovery after all!! It is the soup and the love you bring to it that works every time, Rachel!! The picture was delightful .. almost like actually being there! Virtual recovery by digital camera! Take two snapshots and call me in the morning ....
  8. http://www.jewish-food.org/recipes/pmaindex.htm choose whatever turns you on ingredient-wise!! I have made those entitled: Fluffy and The Absolutely Best Ever ... with excellent light, fluffy results .. "floaters" not "sinkers", to be sure!!
  9. You will shortly read about Portland from some of its best spokespeople, namely one "extra MSG" who posts here frequently ... his personal website has some detail about the local restaurants as well ... or you can look through the eGullet threads which mention Portland specifically .. but it is a long thread: oooops, slight edit .. use Portland, Oregon as your search words ... sorry!! http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?act=Se...tland%2C+oregon
  10. Closest to me here in Atlanta, and closest in time as well, is the annual Vidalia Onion Festival .... held in May .... check out their schedule of events if you are somewhere in the general vicinity ... http://www.vidaliaonionfestival.com/
  11. Anything with fewer calories, but without that horrific artificial aftertaste, would indeed have my blessing!! Although I still love the taste of Coke Classic .. and in Atlanta we fully genuflect at the high altar of this beverage ... and truly venerate the logo .... I am fully aware of the "toll" it takes on the human body over years of consuming it ...
  12. You got that right!! Shall I hie myself hence to ye olde "Blockbuster film and comestibles" and check out an often viewed copy??
  13. I suppose orange soda is the only appropriate drink with that kind of matzo ball? Would have thought something by Dr. Brown's more appropriate ....
  14. I have always boiled my matzo balls in salted water for some twenty minutes and then added them to the soup prior to serving .... they tend to cloud any liquid into which they are placed, so this method seems to works best .... although some have success with adding them directly to the soup, I am not one of these fortunate people.
  15. Nobody puts the essence of matzoh ball soup more poetically, more visually appealing, more emotionally charged than you just have ... nobody! May I use this as an epitaph on my matzoh ball's metzaveh (tombstone)?? Takkeh, a proper eulogy to these "little guys" as they float ever so gently into my mouth!!
  16. Having had the exact same reaction to the thread with pictures of French pastry posted here today ... agony indeed!! The matzoh ball soup is a cinch .. elaborately decadent and decorated desserts are something else!!
  17. Lukshen is an absolute mitzvah all of us must fulfill!! says it in the Torah if you read the (Hebrew) fine print!
  18. So you have a "thing" about women who resemble matzo balls .... hmmm ... do you like them with little parsley flecks and bobbing around wildly and covered with pepper? Should they "float" or "sink"? But perhaps more interestingly, does Rachel know??
  19. I have to go with your grandmother on this one! Tonight we are finishing our Passover chicken soup as well and since we downed those "sinkers" and "floaters" (the matzoh balls) last week, I have added egg noodles for tonight .... thick and curly ones at that! Are there any diehards out there who will attest to the pure pleasures of quaffing a steaming bowl of chicken soup with all of the attendant "trimmings"??
  20. and it doesn't appear that Theresa is going to divulge anything secret about either ketchup or finances if today's NY Daily News is on target: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/s...8p-159770c.html
  21. All the more reason to be even more highly selective in one's choice of guests and/or topics ... why is there no smiley emoticon for nauseous??
  22. This is hysterical!! Might she be one of my relatives in disguise??
  23. Carolyn, my favorite cannibal humor went like this: Two cannibals were eating dinner. One said:"I really hate my sister." The other said:"Well, just eat the noodles." Thanks for your additions to my meagre supply of such material!!
  24. Sounds like my family gatherings! Unfortunately I can't divorce them ... so I try to cook accordingly ... reminds me of the Buddy Hackett line: "My mother had two choices of meals she offered: take it or leave it!" I do love that line!!
  25. Probably just as well .. why do we all automatically assume that our parents have nothing to add to our personal wealth of knowledge on this subject? and it is almost universal, I'll wager ... to a person!!
